00:00But a couple of headlines, really, five big headlines that come to me and my mind when we speak of
00:06these bipolar results.
00:07First, the beginning of the end for the AIA DMK.
00:11The two-leaf symbol, red teller, which was very famous in Tamil Nadu,
00:15it would mean that huge, in fact, crowds would gather just by a look of that symbol.
00:21That symbol has weakened and how this was the legacy of MGR, of Jail Alita.
00:26It's been finished.
00:28They haven't been able to hold on to a seat even in the Kongu region.
00:32I'm referring to Darapuram.
00:34That's their stronghold.
00:35They're in third place in that seat.
00:38And so the legacy of MGR Amma is up for grabs.
00:41Vijay will claim that position.
00:43He's made it clear in his campaign too.
00:45The candidates who won were previously with AIA DMK.
00:48This will mean he's going to swallow more of AIA DMK's vote bank.
00:51Third, there's no anti-incumbency whatsoever against Vijay.
00:56Issues are there to be addressed.
00:57Yes, challenges are there.
00:59Yes, but the Vijay factor is still the number one game changer in Tamil Nadu politics.
01:03And for the DMK to actually stand a chance against Vijay, they'll need to really reinvent themselves.
01:09Do something drastic like what?
01:11I honestly don't have the answer myself because right now, Vijay is a force that seems unstoppable in Tamil Nadu.
01:18Fourth, DMK still, yes, the main opposition to TVK, but their narrative of anti-incumbency hasn't worked.
01:25Their personal attacks haven't worked.
01:27Even Stalin personally campaigning hasn't helped.
01:31Fifth, a mandate from the people on the issue of horse trading.
01:34You hear this a lot, the political back and forth suggesting that MLAs have switched over because of money,
01:39because of greed, because of being offered ministerial births in the TVK government.
01:45The voters have sent across a message.
01:47They don't care about loyalty switch, about who the candidate is.
01:50This is a vote for Vijay, clearly.
01:54And expect now more leaders from the AIA-DMK to switch over to the TVK,
01:59which is why I started off by saying this is the beginning of the end for the AIA-DMK.
02:12It's a rerun of the Tamil Nadu assembly post when newcomer TVK emerged the biggest party.
02:23The party is taking the twin constituencies of Madhurantakam and Dharampuram from the AIA-DMK after bipoles held this week.
02:37So, last four months, definitely, under the leadership of NCCC, the government has performed very well.
02:45And in all departments, definitely, like, you could see everywhere, corruption has been eroded today.
02:49And there's still, like, all the leakages have been controlled.
02:52And definitely, the government is performing very well in Comforto also, our last country.
02:56The DMK refused to take the setback lying down,
03:00blaming the bipole results on SIR and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
03:06The voters' lists were manipulated in such a way that many voters' names were removed from the list
03:12on the booths where the DMK had got more number of votes.
03:17So, there is a planned action by the Election Commission, by Jyanesh Kumar.
03:26Independent candidate from Madhurantakam alleged machine malfunctioned at a counting centre.
03:31However, he was removed from the counting centre later.
03:38The EVM, that is, control unit.
03:40The EVM unit, control unit, no unit, and the unit, it is not functioning.
03:4714 polling booths has to be counted completely as per ECA knobs.
03:54Defections triggered the bipoles in both constituencies,
03:58making the outcome particularly significant for the AIADMK.
04:09The voter turnout figures also point to a notable decline compared with the previous Assembly elections.
04:17But the verdict opens up new opportunities for TVK to expand its footprint.
04:22It also raises questions about the opposition's standing in Tamil Nadu.
04:28With Pramod Madhav, Ananga Keshav and Apoorva Jai Chandran, Bureau Report, India Today.
