04:21Tonight's episode, if things in wrestling just seem to change up so fast, only a couple weeks ago, we touched
04:29on a story where Tessa Blanchard was supposed to wrestle for MLW, and I guess there was some confusion.
04:35She was a CMLL, who is her parent company.
04:37They own her rights.
04:39She's under contract with them.
04:40They were under the impression this was a one-off, that she was going to go to MLW, have one
04:44match, and then be done with it.
04:46The way MLW built it, it was basically going to be a championship match, and word came out that maybe,
04:51just maybe, she was going to win that championship.
04:54And if she does, then that puts pressure on CMLL to allow her to wrestle more dates.
04:58Well, it ended up falling through.
05:00She didn't show up to MLW.
05:02Instead, Masha Slamovich, another highly controversial talent, showed up instead and basically took her place.
05:08Now, we are a month later, and word came out today that Tessa Blanchard is now officially joining MLW more
05:15than one date with the okay and approval of CMLL.
05:20I'm curious to see how they weave this into their storylines now that Masha Slamovich is there.
05:25Obviously, there's a natural heat that we could build between the two of them if you want to go that
05:29route, or they have a host of other talents in the company.
05:31I'm just glad to see her get an opportunity to wrestle on a U.S.-based company show, because I really
05:38do believe, look, I'm not justifying anything that Tessa has done in the past.
05:41It's well documented.
05:43She's said some heinous things, said some things that she will never be able to take back, and I'm not
05:48justifying any of that.
05:51But I also believe that we are a society of flawed human beings, and we need to give people an
05:57opportunity to earn a living and bring us the enjoyment that we really get into.
06:03And look, I'm not in her personal circle.
06:05I don't know if she genuinely feels remorse for the things she's done, but there are a lot of female
06:09talents in locker rooms who have said that she is genuinely sorry.
06:13There are others who are not willing to accept her apologies, like Chelsea Green and people like that, and they
06:17are perfectly within their rights to feel that way as well.
06:20I won't knock anybody for how they feel, but if she's going to be a wrestler anyways, and she is
06:26a premium talent, I think she, at this point in her career, it's been long enough that maybe we have
06:31her dip her toes into the American water.
06:34Maybe she gets a better appreciation for what's going on here.
06:37Maybe she can really start generating some of those genuine sentiments about regretting her past actions and maybe give herself
06:44a path to being a bigger presence in American television.
06:47Don't know if that's ever going to happen.
06:48I don't know what's going on inside her head.
06:50If she feels like she still owes anybody anything, I think at the bare minimum, every locker room she goes
06:57into, she should go up to anybody that represents those individuals who she has offended in the past.
07:02And she should make the olive branch at every show and make it clear that that's not her.
07:08It's not what she feels.
07:09It's not how she wants to portray herself any further and that she's regretful for anything that's happened.
07:14If you do that enough times and you're genuine and sincere about it, people will actually start to believe you.
07:18When you have to pull it out of somebody like, you know, pulling teeth, it doesn't come across as genuine.
07:23I hope she is being genuine.
07:25I hope this works out for her.
07:26I hope she's rethought her perspective on things and can be a contributing member to any great locker room.
07:33That being said, there is some exciting to news.
07:36Speaking of new people joining locker rooms, the Chris Jericho Rock and Rager at Sea.
07:41This is the seventh time they're doing this cruise and typically it's AEW talent that is on the cruise.
07:48Well, that is an interesting statement to make when we find out today that one of the superstars on the
07:54cruise will be none other than former WWE superstar, current free agent, Kairi Sane.
08:00We've been waiting to see what Kairi's next move is going to be.
08:03I don't know if it's officially going to be AEW, if she's going to do a dual contract with Stardom
08:08in New Japan.
08:08I'm not sure, but we do know that she will be at the Rock and Rager at Sea.
08:13What a huge, huge get for Chris Jericho.
08:16I hope he finds a way to use her in a very meaningful way on the show.
08:19I do know that they are supposed to broadcast Dynamite that week from the cruise for television purposes.
08:26If she's there, you would imagine they would love to get her on television for that.
08:30But at this point, we don't know who she'll be wrestling.
08:32We don't know what her role would be, but she is going to be in the Rock and Rager.
08:35That's awesome. Congratulations, Chris Jericho, for being the guy to get this incredible talent on your show.
08:41Got to touch on two more things.
08:43One thing very frustrating, one thing very interesting.
08:45Which one do I go with first?
08:46I wish you were here to give me your thoughts.
08:48Let's go with this. Let's go with NXT versus Dynamite.
08:53I don't like the tribalism in pro wrestling.
08:55I think it doesn't help.
08:56I'm just a wrestling fan. I like all wrestling.
08:59But certain things need to be said and need to be covered and discussed,
09:02especially when you're doing a news reaction channel like I am.
09:05NXT this week drew 532,000 viewers, which is down from 670,000 a week prior.
09:13However, that 532 may not seem like a big number,
09:17but it was a big enough number to outdraw Dynamite by 40,000 almost people.
09:22495,000 viewers for Dynamite, which is down from 899,000 a week prior when they did the tribute show
09:29to PAC.
09:29This week, NXT was a relatively conventional episode, whereas Dynamite was Grand Slam France with the headline match of Will
09:38Ospreay versus Kazuchika Okada, one of the best wrestlers in the world.
09:42There were other killer matches on the card.
09:45Clockwork Carnage matches were taking place.
09:47All this stuff.
09:48And somehow, NXT still outdrew Dynamite Grand Slam France.
09:53Now, there's some nuance to it, and I don't know how much this matters anymore.
09:56I really don't.
09:57But in the demographic of 18 to 49, NXT drew a .1 versus a .11 for Dynamite, slightly better technically
10:05in that demographic.
10:06In the 25 to 54 class, a .14 for NXT versus a .15 for Dynamite.
10:13Those are nominal differences between them in terms of those demos, which tells me there must be a whole lot
10:19of people either older than 54 or younger than 18 who tuned into the show for WWE NXT to have
10:26higher overall viewership but lower numbers in those demographs.
10:29And the reason that matters for corporate America is those demographic ratings are what determine the costs associated with advertising
10:37revenue and the kind of money that networks are going to pay for your programming.
10:41I get it.
10:42But if I'm a company, I care about total eyes on the product.
10:46Now, let's be honest.
10:47These ratings aren't accurate anyways.
10:48I mean, heck, they haven't counted me watching the show in forever because I don't watch the show at home.
10:52I go to the gym.
10:53I work out and watch the show while I'm on a treadmill.
10:56And then I shift it to my phone.
10:58Maybe they're counting me there.
11:00And then I go back to another cardio piece and I watch more of it there.
11:03Like, they're not paying attention to how I'm getting it.
11:05So how accurate are the numbers?
11:07I don't know.
11:07Does this .14 to .15 or .10 to .11 really matter?
11:11I don't know.
11:12I care about the overall number.
11:14And the fact that NXT beat Dynamite by close to 40,000 viewers is somewhat scary to me with the
11:20hoopla over Grand Slam France.
11:23And obviously, the $8.99 pre-prior for Dynamite, purely driven on the compassion of the fans for the loss
11:30of Pac.
11:31So this is a more realistic number.
11:34Hopefully, there's a lot more views on streaming platforms for AEW because I really want to see them do well.
11:39But this is great news for NXT, going head-to-head with AEW and coming out on top.
11:44Very, very interesting.
11:45And let's get into the last thing we have to talk about.
11:48This is the more frustrating one because I can't even believe I have to report on this.
11:51In Mexico, the piledriver is banned.
11:54Let's start there.
11:55The piledriver is banned.
11:58This weekend at a show, 75-year-old referee El Bujo is in the ring officiating a match between El
12:06Jijo del Fishman and Mascarad Sagrada.
12:10And the match is interesting for a couple reasons because way back in 2000, Mascarad Sagrada unmasked Fishman Sr., El
12:19Jijo del Fishman's relative.
12:21In this match, while things are taking place, this match was held in Hidalgo.
12:26It was put on by Lucha Libre Vanguardia from Producciones IRC and El Patron Espectaculas.
12:35I hate that my notes are so hard to read on my own handwriting, but these three companies come together
12:40to put the show on.
12:41And they've worked with other people before.
12:43Some have worked with AAA.
12:44Some have worked with CMLL.
12:45Some have worked with other companies, AEW, that kind of thing.
12:48This show in particular, El Jijo del Fishman was represented by El Patron Espectaculas.
12:56I can't wrap my tongue around that.
12:58And in this match, he grabs the 75-year-old referee and gives him a pile driver.
13:03And then he's laying motionless in the ring.
13:06Now, a lot of people thought maybe he was just selling the move or whatnot, but in Mexico, that is
13:10a banned move.
13:11And then it come to find out that the reason he's not moving is he's dead.
13:16The man passed away in the ring.
13:19That's horrible.
13:20Well, then the authorities show up, Fishman gets arrested, and this is a very serious crime because that move is
13:29banned in Mexico.
13:31I'm assuming, because I don't know enough about El Patron Espectaculas, but they are the ones who apparently represent him.
13:39And I don't know how much El Patron is associated with it.
13:43It has his name on it.
13:44I would imagine he's some way linked to it.
13:45But word is that they are cooperating fully with the investigation, that they are offering some legal counsel for Fishman.
13:54But this is a bad situation.
13:55Why you would grab a 75-year-old referee, I don't understand in the first place.
14:00Certainly not to do a pile driver in a place where it's well known, it's documented that you can't do
14:05a pile driver.
14:05I can't imagine what they would do with some of the AEW movesets that I see out there.
14:09They're far more dangerous than the pile driver, but whatever.
14:12It is what it is.
14:13This is a sad situation.
14:14It's been a bad month and a half, man.
14:16There is so much loss in the world of professional wrestling.
14:19So many independent stars this week.
14:21And I'm not going to go into all their names because, frankly, I don't know them well enough to be
14:24respectful to do that.
14:26But we've seen a lot of that.
14:27Cannonball passed away today.
14:29Several others have recently.
14:31One thing we don't need is to see people getting injured in the ring leading to their untimely passing for
14:35whatever reason.
14:36So not a good look.
14:39Bad situation all the way around.
14:40And hopefully, you know, I don't know how I feel about the legal aspect of this and what they should
14:46do with Fishman.
14:47If you know the law, you broke the law, you broke the law.
14:50I mean, I don't know.
14:51I know it's sports entertainment and the moves are supposed to be works and not shoots and all that kind
14:56of stuff.
14:56But obviously, whatever he did, he did wrong because he hurt this man so bad that he didn't make it
15:01out of the ring.
15:02That's terrible.
15:03So I hate leaving on such a negative note, but it is what it is.
15:07That's all the time we have for this episode.
15:09Check back with us next episode.
15:10We'll run down the latest wrestling news and rumors.
15:12Special thanks, as always, goes out to Suno for creating the music and sound effects we use in our show.
15:16If you want to bring a new friend to family game night, I got three options for you.
15:19So one, Beezle Games presents sketchy people, which is like a cross between Chutes and Ladders and Pictionary.
15:25But perhaps you're better off in the shopping world.
15:29You could grab your shopping list and see who in your group is the fastest to get in and out
15:33of the supermarket with Banani Market by Danny Doodle Games.
15:36And you could grab a copy of that today.
15:38Or if you'd rather cruise the cosmos grabbing relics and artifacts from all over the universe on your way to
15:45the final challenge,
15:46you could do that with Legendary Elements by Freddy Fu Creations.
15:49All three of these games I have a copy of.
15:51They're wonderful.
15:52You could get a copy of each or one of them at thegamecrafter.com, where you, too, can support independent
15:59game creation.
16:00And let's be honest, you've been playing with the same board games your whole life.
16:04The Chess, Checkers, Monopoly, playing cards, pop a lot of trouble on a Pop-O-Matic bubble.
16:08You've been doing Trivial Pursuit and Life and Clue and, you know, all these things.
16:13Having family brawls over Monopoly or Risk.
16:17Instead of doing any of that, give a new game an opportunity.
16:20Bring some smiles to the household.
16:22Check these out at thegamecrafter.com.
16:24These or hundreds of other titles, but my big suggestions are Sketchy People, Banani Market, and Legendary Elements.
16:30If you're looking for your next career move, you're considering college, university life,
16:33maybe you just need some formal training for your next opportunity,
16:35go to my website at frolifeplanning.com for all your higher education needs,
16:39as FroLife Educational Planning is for today, for tomorrow, and for life with FroLife.
16:44I'm Fred Froelich, better known as Dr. Fro.
16:46I want to thank you for taking some time with us today.
16:48Until next time, take care, everybody.
16:49Have a great night.
