00:15It's time for...
00:17Tanks Cooks.
00:19Bonja, monja, bon appetit, let's eat.
00:22It's time for Tanks Cooks.
00:25It's time, it's time, it's time once again for Tanks Cooks.
00:31Alright, fall has arrived, but you know, we're gonna try to hold on to that grilling season just a little
00:38bit longer.
00:38You know, soon we'll be making soups, and great roast, and different things.
00:43So, of course, always send me good recipes, njtank99gmail.com
00:47But, before grilling season ends, this one I saw and I had to do it.
00:54It's called Grilled Cola Chicken.
00:57And we're gonna be making a glaze with some cola.
01:05I'm gonna use Pepsi, but...
01:08First we have to do a dry spice rub for the chicken.
01:13So we're gonna be using chicken thighs.
01:16And, uh, start with that.
01:18So let's do that.
01:20And, of course, we'll be using our regular spices, our garlic powder.
01:26Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da!
01:28We'll toss the accent in, of course.
01:33Lee-lee-lee-lee-lee-lee-lee!
01:36Do a little lemon pepper.
01:41Lemon pepper.
01:43We got this thing that's, uh, for, uh, chicken rub.
01:47So let's put some of this chicken rub on as well.
01:50All right.
01:52Next up, we're gonna put in, uh, some ground kosher salt.
02:00Easy.
02:02Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo!
02:08Also, gonna put in some ground fresh pepper.
02:26then we're going to add in
02:28some paprika
02:40and a little bit of
02:41cayenne pepper
02:50all right let's mix these spices up
02:59and we'll get our chicken thighs
03:04chicken thighs with no lies
03:14there it is our chicken thighs
03:16now we're going to mix this up in the bowl
03:21shake it around
03:39make sure they're all nicely coated there it is all right now we're going to stick this in the fridge
03:46for
03:48uh it's supposed to be at least 30 minutes let the uh dry ingredients mix into our chicken thighs
03:57and uh get ready to make our glaze before we head outside in for one last grilling session
04:05just baby up
04:08come on baby light my fire
04:13time to set this grill on fire
04:18all right
04:20now we got to make our little glaze we're going to start it right here
04:24and uh we're going to pour in a uh um 12 ounces of uh pepsi now it says uh i'm
04:38supposed to use uh
04:39about two cups i believe or how many it is let's see six cups even more but i'm reducing it
04:46because
04:46i'm only making it for myself i'm actually even using the mexican pepsi cola because you know
04:55no fructose uh high uh corn syrup so i don't know if this is how it's going to affect the
05:01recipe but
05:02let me pour it into a little pot here
05:09and we have to let this pepsi get to a boil
05:16let's see how our pepsi's doing okay we have to continue to stir this every now and then and we
05:24need this uh
05:28cola to uh thicken
05:32as it reaches a boil hasn't quite reached the boil yet
05:40okay we're starting to get close to a boil
05:43once it starts to boil and reduce in uh
05:46size and starts to boil off we'll be adding in our other ingredients
05:51all right now we have our next step and we're going to add in some uh
05:57soy sauce
06:03a little bit of soy to bring some joy and it'll whisk it in sauce isn't thickening up that much
06:11maybe it's because we should have used a high fructose
06:13high fructose corn syrup version but i think the national sugar is actually probably a little bit better
06:21next up we're going to put in some worcestershire sauce
06:37here it is a little bit of worcestershire sauce
06:43i'm going to whisk it in all together
06:51then it calls for some ketchup i don't put ketchup in anything i
06:55can't ketchup sucks so i'm going to put in some barbecue sauce
07:06here it is
07:11just going to whisk it around
07:18sauce thickening oh it's got a real good smell to it
07:25next up we're going to put in a little bit of brown sugar
07:32brown sugar
07:37of course it always clumps up like that on me so i'll just
07:43damn won't even crush on me
07:45what the fuck all right let's get the brown sugar ready to go in there
07:49these things are supposed to prevent that clump from happening
07:57they don't do
07:58all right we don't need that much brown sugar but we'll just pour some brown sugar in
08:07and let it continue to thicken up and i can feel the sauce thickening up really nice
08:15all right once again we'll be putting on some corn
08:20and potatoes to serve alongside of it and this is really boiling up really nice now all right
08:39all right now it's time to put on that chicken
09:02and then we'll take our uh little sauce that we've been making with our nice little natural brush of
09:08tine and rosemary and brush it all on here
09:16yep we'll brush in that sauce
09:25so feel feel feel feel feel feel that heat as i brush on
09:33the cola glaze sauce here
09:38all right close this up and then we'll be uh flipping it in about five minutes
09:44let's go all right time to uh flip the bird here
09:52all right we've got a little flare up on this one
09:57so let's rotate them and flip them that's right turn the bird around
10:04cook on other side now turn the bird around oh yeah there it is
10:13yep got a little flare up but that's no problem
10:17all right there it is that's right i am flipping the bird and right now we got to get our
10:22natural uh
10:24mixture again continue to brush this
10:30coke uh pepsi cola mix on there
10:37yep basically with our natural ingredients of tine and rosemary oh wee i can feel that heat
10:47all right in fact we can take this off now i think put this to the side
10:55okay
10:56okay this is looking pretty good
11:00and oh man the corn charred up
11:03might as well get these potatoes off too before they char up
11:09all right well i got a little plate here i have another lime that i sliced up got some lime
11:13that i'm gonna
11:14put down as a like a kind of a garnish for our chicken which is time to take off the
11:21heat
11:21yes boy i tell you it's it's charring up a little bit but oops there we go i don't want
11:26to have my
11:27recipe go flying away we got a nor'easter on the way all right uh there it is we'll take
11:33the chicken
11:34off put it on top of the lime slices yes indeed yes indeed all right we're gonna let this rest
11:45for about
11:45five minutes we'll put our uh tine and uh rosemary on top of it as kind of like another garnish
11:55and then you know it's still a little hot we'll pour on our little sauce here here it is
12:04all right we'll let this rest for five minutes and there'll be time then it'll be time time to plate
12:12the meal our cola grilled chicken doesn't this look great it looks solid of course we use pepsi
12:20and uh well let's see how this came out is it's time to plate the meal time to plate the
12:27meal
12:30time to plate the meal all right here we go we'll get rid of our garnish put our garnish to
12:39the
12:41varnish all right
12:52all right here it is our chicken doesn't this i mean it looks really good oh it's leaking
12:57leaking on the table a little bit but let's see how our cola grilled chicken came out of course we've
13:06got
13:14you know blackened corn can be a delicacy
13:18we still have to black blackened
13:23and of course our potatoes always come out good
13:27you know using less oil my spices stick better i i'm actually surprised at that
13:36and well let's see how this came out get a nice little piece of this chicken
