Tensions escalated outside a restaurant in Connaught Place, New Delhi, as a clash broke out between Congress and BJP workers ahead of a scheduled opposition meeting. The scuffle reportedly occurred when a supporter raised pro-BJP slogans near the venue where opposition leaders were gathering for lunch. National Students' Union of India and Youth Congress workers gathered at the site, staging protests and raising slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi while opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Chief Election Commissioner. In response to the unrest, Delhi Police personnel, equipped with body cameras, alongside the Rapid Action Force and Central Armed Police Forces, were deployed in large numbers to secure the perimeter and monitor crowd movement. While several opposition Members of Parliament, including Manickam Tagore and Imran Pratapgarhi, arrived at the venue, senior leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were expected. Security forces established barricades in anticipation of a planned march by opposition leaders following the meeting.

00:00We are getting some news updates, we are getting some breaking news.
00:04We're learning that there has been a clash between the BJP and the Congress workers
00:08just outside the venue, which is more its restaurant.
00:11We're learning that there has been a clash between the BJP and Congress workers.
00:15A Muslim BJP supporter was beaten up by the Congress workers
00:19for raising pro-BJP slogans over here at Cannot Place,
00:23at the Outer Circle, just outside the venue.
00:26Remember, the opposition MPs are yet to reach.
00:28Some of them have already arrived, but some of the main leaders are yet to arrive.
00:33But before that, there has been a clash between the BJP workers
00:36and the Congress workers.
00:38We're learning that there was a BJP worker who was raising some pro-BJP slogans
00:42who has now been beaten up by the Congress workers.
00:45My colleague Amit Bhadwaj continues to stay with us.
00:47Amit, what more details are we getting on this?
00:53Well, the police certainly is in active mode.
00:57Once I'll ask Manish to show the visuals that is coming from the location where all of us are standing,
01:05you know, and we're trying to get frame-by-frame picture of the developments here.
01:09But there are reports of confrontation.
01:13We'll have to see as to what Delhi police has to say.
01:16And Delhi police is better equipped, certainly.
01:18Today, we can say that because if you look at, you know, the installations on Delhi police's uniform as well,
01:25many of them have body cameras on.
01:27So, that has been done in order to, you know, spot any activity in the crowd,
01:33if that happens, untoward activity, if that unfolds in the crowd.
01:38But we can certainly show to our viewers that NSUIE workers are here standing,
01:43raising slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi and against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and against Bharatiya Janta Party, obviously.
01:50So, there's a possibility of if BJP workers come here, there's a, obviously, in situation of that sort,
01:56there is always possibility of confrontation between the workers of the political parties.
02:00And that is why we are to assume that the police and RAF seems to be in really alert mode
02:06right now.
02:07And the movement of the police forces is, the RAF personnel is also happening.
02:12So, this is a major, you know, alert mode kind of situation that we can see.
02:17Yes, we are given to understand that there was a Muslim BJP supporter who was raising pro-BJP slogans
02:25because of which this confrontation possibly unfolded.
02:29But right now, the Delhi police and RAF...
02:32All right, Amit. All right. Thank you for those details.
02:35Do stay with us. Let's take a look at some political reactions.
02:38We are doing it.
02:38When there is something in defense, there is no offense to it.
02:43So, this offense and the FIR, this is how it's done with the badness.
02:48We are doing it. We are doing it. We are doing it.
02:52We are doing it.
02:54I don't know this. It's happening on television.
03:23So, we are getting you...
03:26All the updates right from the ground, right from Moets, which is the lunch venue.
03:31But what seems to be different today as compared to yesterday is that yesterday there was no action before the
03:38lunch meeting happened.
03:39The workers were not there. Some workers had gathered, but there was no action or no drama that was taking
03:44place.
03:44But today, as we can see, there's already drama that's taking place.
03:48There's already chaos that's unfolding over here.
03:50There are protests, there's sloganeering that's happening by the youth congress workers.
03:54If we could show you around how there's also movement of the cops, the RAF, and it seems like the
04:04leaders are now arriving.
04:06And there's heavy sloganeering by the NSCI workers, the youth congress workers.
04:11We also learned about a clash between the congress and the BJP workers.
04:15There were some BJP workers who were raising pro-BJP slogans who were allegedly beaten up by the youth congress
04:22and the NSCI workers
04:23who are now staging protests.
04:24So they have already started staging protests today. That was not the case yesterday.
04:29So in all likelihood, as soon as the lunch wraps up, as soon as the opposition MPs are done with
04:35the lunch,
04:36they will be marching towards. We still don't have any clarity where they will be marching towards.
04:41What we're learning, that it could be Rajgat also. It could be Jantar Mantar also.
04:45So there's no confirmation that we've got from any of the MPs. The MPs still want to keep it a
04:53secret.
04:53They are saying that they will be deciding where they will be marching towards while they're having lunch.
04:59But Rajgat seems to be one of the options. They could once again board the buses and move towards Jantar
05:05Mantar also.
05:05Remember, viewers, the same buses, the same three buses can be seen even today.
05:10They are already parked. So the opposition MPs will today also be boarding these buses like yesterday.
05:17And after which there's heavy cop deployment also. The cops are absolutely ready today.
05:23They know that there is going to be a protest. There is going to be a march.
05:27So the cops are already deployed. There's heavy RAF deployment.
05:30CAPF have also been deployed.
05:32And the numbers are only increasing with each passing minute.
05:36We're seeing the police deployment is only increasing. There's heavy barricading.
05:41And the crowd is also surging.
05:44More and more Congress workers, youth Congress workers are now reaching the location.
05:48They have already started staging protests.
05:51What remains to be seen, when do the top leaders arrive?
05:55Because so far Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Wadra, Malikarjan, Kargit, they have not arrived.
05:59Although other MPs, including Manikam Tagaur, Imran, Patapkadi, they have arrived.
06:03Menu, a mantra. Lunch ke baad launch.
06:07Sir, ya launch konee jara.
06:08Kal jaysa launch hua kuch waisa hi.
06:11Kaha pa?
06:12Dekha jaya.
