Washington's matchup with the first place Giants on Sunday is extremely winnable, especially if Jayden Daniels plays.

00:00I got this information from Roto-Wire yesterday,
00:03and certainly it's tough to just judge overall injuries
00:07with injuries to starters and more significant players.
00:10But I was blown away by this.
00:12Based on the most injured teams through four games around the NFL,
00:17commanders aren't even in the top 20.
00:19When you look at man games lost, injury reports,
00:23like think about the Niners who are 4-0
00:25and have injuries seemingly every year all over the place
00:29to some of their most important players.
00:31That team right there, though, is in a different situation
00:35than Washington is at this point.
00:36For sure.
00:37And when you look at Washington injuries, starting quarterbacks,
00:42backup quarterback hurt, that's different than having Joe Blow
00:45from the other team that may be hurt down the line.
00:47Totally.
00:48So I understand the amount of injuries.
00:49Marcus, do you feel I think if Marcus stays healthy, they win that game.
00:54Yeah, I agree.
00:55I agree because he came out cooking, man.
00:57Yeah.
00:57And I was thoroughly impressed with the way things were going,
01:01and then boom, all of a sudden.
01:03But as we say, most guys that play pro ball,
01:08most guys that really covered it a long time like you,
01:11the big guys make a difference.
01:13The big guys up front on offense did not make a difference.
01:17They made a difference in a negative manner for Washington.
01:20Yeah.
01:20They got to get that right.
01:21I still don't understand the decision to go to Goulbin from Allegretti.
01:25That's one that we asked DQ about it Sunday and kind of Monday.
01:30I'm curious.
01:31Basically, his answer is, well, we think we're getting Sam back,
01:34so we're not going to worry about that.
01:36If you get – I do think this is a fundamentally different team,
01:41at least offensively, if you have Jaden, Cosme, and McLaurin back on the field.
01:45Yeah.
01:45And I think here there is some level of expectation of that's what's going to happen.
01:51Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:52And so that – like I wrote an article Monday morning from the airport just like
01:58the season still isn't over, and people get in such a hurry to react to everything.
02:03I think if you just look at the numbers, you look at how they've started this year
02:07and last year, like there's real questions for Quinn.
02:09There's real questions for Peters.
02:11But, like, it's week five.
02:13Any conversation about overhauling or blowing things up is just asinine.
02:18They have –
02:19That's the size of these days, bro.
02:21Sure.
02:21There's an opportunity Sunday to beat the Giants.
02:25You've got Jameis Winston coming to town.
02:27The Giants – dude, you are what your record is.
02:30They're 3-1, and they're in first place in the NFC East.
02:34Yeah.
02:34And the way the injuries are stacking up for Philly, I don't know.
02:37It's interesting what's going to happen.
02:39I think Dallas plays tomorrow night with an opportunity with a bad Tampa team at home.
02:45It seems like the Cowboys offense is starting to heat up.
02:48Then the Eagles are in London, so they have the morning game Sunday morning.
02:52So, like, we'll already know the results of two other NFC East games.
02:56I think – I don't know if you agree with this, B.
02:58I very much think it's silly to call a season over through four games.
03:04Yeah, I'm with that.
03:05But I also think because of the nature of the NFC East, where Philly has a ton of injuries
03:09and their offense looks bad, period, Dallas could get hot.
03:14The Giants are 3-1, but they're now doing it with the backup quarterback for the season
03:18that's going to give you good games, like the one he just had against Arizona.
03:22But he's going to give you terrible games, too.
03:25And I don't know if Washington was in the NFC West, where you have a 4-0 Niners team,
03:32a 3-1 Seahawks team, the Rams that people really like that are 2-2.
03:36Like, the Cardinals are sitting at 1-3, right?
03:40Yeah.
03:40I think their season's about over.
03:42Now, they might surprise people.
03:44They've been plucky.
03:45They've been fun to watch.
03:46But I don't think there's a playoff shot there.
03:48I think the NFC East, even with Washington at 1-3, remains wide over.
03:53It does.
03:53It does.
03:54But they have to get to a point where they have sustained health.
04:00Because their biggest issue now, I think when you've got everybody in play,
04:05they're better offensively, they're better defensively.
04:08I think when you start losing people, you are now, you drop back.
04:14They have to be healthy.
04:16They have that sustained health.
04:18And if they do that, then things can change.
04:20I certainly agree with you defensively.
04:22I think you just watch them play defense, and they're better.
04:25I think Amik Robertson's giving them a real presence.
04:28Sonny Stiles is a difference maker.
04:30Odafa always been quite good.
04:33I fear, and I think it's too small of a sample size,
04:36and I think you've got to get Cosme back on the field.
04:40Their run game has really, really struggled.
04:43And I don't know definitively that offensively they're better when you can't run the ball.
04:47I think they've run the ball effectively.
04:50That game the other day, you get into the situations they got into as the game went down.
04:56If Marcus is still in the game, they're going to run that ball effectively
04:58because they're worried about Marcus' run too.
05:01Once Cadillac Manus came in the game, they weren't letting you run.
05:04They wanted to see if that kid could beat them with his own.
05:06And he damn near was throwing some perfect balls.
05:10When you're in a game, in a situation where they know you can't really just beat them throwing
05:16because they couldn't block nobody in the passing game, they pile it up,
05:19and they say, we're going to stop the run on the way to the quarterback.
05:24And that's what they did.
05:25You know, they were sitting at 4.7 yards of carry in the run game.
05:29Marcus had a 35-yard run.
05:31The game when they had a build touchdown callback,
05:34I look at that and say the penalty had nothing to do with that actual run.
05:39So I see that as an effective run.
05:42The pre-snap penalties, man.
05:44Yeah, the pre-snap penalties are killing them.
05:45I don't know if you've watched the Antonio Williams.
05:49As soon as it was called, I said they're going to call it back.
05:52All three receivers are just moving.
05:54It's one guy on the line, two on the line.
05:57And so if you notice, Patrick was snapping the ball a little early.
06:03And high.
06:04When Kelly Acmanis came in the game, it was being snapped a little early
06:06because I think his cadence is a little different than Marcus's is.
06:11Yeah, I'm sure.
06:11That kid was so amped up.
06:13You don't think he's –
06:14But as soon as he – as soon as you could see it
06:17and you saw the receiver begin to move, the ball came out.
06:21Right.
06:21And the center sometimes has to look down the line to figure that out.
06:26But I think there was so much going on, they couldn't get it.
06:29But I think it was a little ticky-tack, and I think the refs called every ticky-tack thing
06:33they could in this game against Washington.
06:35The Steph Diggs OPI at the absolute top of the list.
06:37That was some straight BS to me.
06:39But, like, for the people that are like, there was no movement, that's a BS call.
06:42No, it was movement.
06:43Dude, it was like the three receivers on the right side in that bunch.
06:46It was like they were on a boat that was kind of moving.
06:49You had a bunch with one person was back.
06:51The outside guy was back.
06:52The two inside guys were lined up equal.
06:55Right.
06:56Which means one guy has to be off, another guy has to be off that ball.
06:59As soon as the guy begins to move while the outside guy was trying to adjust a little bit,
07:05ball was snapped.
07:06It was a fantastic play.
07:08Antonio showed you something in that play.
07:10Made a hell of a play, yeah.
07:10But it was a penalty.
07:11Now I'll go to the next one.
07:13The Iman block, it didn't hold nobody.
07:15No.
07:15I don't know where that came from.
07:17Now, B, it's early.
07:20It's Wednesday.
07:21I don't want to get ahead of myself.
07:24I, I'll say it, I 100% believe Jaden Daniels is playing.
07:28Right.
07:28I'm not even providing wiggle room.
07:30He's playing.
07:30I believe that too.
07:32I will find out a lot more today with Cosme and McLaurin, but my, my, my JP health index
07:39leans towards those guys playing.
07:42But here's what I can tell you with certainty.
07:46Giants are three and one.
07:48Commanders are one and three.
07:50It makes no sense for the Commanders to open as three and a half point favorites.
07:54It makes no sense that all of the money, 83% of the bets, 88% of the money are
08:00on the
08:00Giants right now.
08:01You've, you've heard me say this and hell, we had dinner Saturday night before the game
08:05in London.
08:06And I just said repeatedly, I don't like the spot for Washington.
08:09Once Marcus went down, it was kind of game over.
08:11Yeah.
08:12But going into Philly, I really liked the spot for Washington.
08:15I really liked the spot this weekend.
08:17The, the, this makes no sense.
08:19And I think if you look at the Giants schedule thus far, like I think they've beaten the Titans
08:26and the Cardinals.
08:28Meanwhile, Washington has played that, that Colts team really lacked skill position power.
08:35Like they, they, they didn't scare you, but they had a monster in the middle of DeForest
08:39Buckner who wrecked the game.
08:41He did.
08:41And they, and they have a really good running back.
08:43And once Caliak-Manus went down, they just kept it simple enough.
08:47They kept getting short fields and they took advantage.
08:49Right.
08:50I think for this Giants team to be coming in, you are what your record is.
08:54They deserve credit.
08:55They beat the Titans 12 to seven and they needed a goal line stand to do so.
09:00They barely squeaked by a Cardinals team.
09:02They gave up, I want to say like 400 yards of offense.
09:06So less than that.
09:07I'm sorry.
09:07I had my numbers backwards there, but I think this is a real opportunity.
09:12Commanders have to be better on third down.
09:13They're 30th in the NFL at converting third downs.
09:16And you know, what's been a real problem for them as, as much as we've liked their defense
09:21and they've been in situations where they've given up short fields, where they're forced
09:25to defend short fields rather, but you always say you can still hold them to a field goal.
09:29Yeah, there you go.
09:30The numbers are staggering defensively.
09:33Washington, I believe the second to last in the league in red zone efficiency.
09:37Yeah, they've given up touchdowns on 80% of the opponent's trips into the red zone.
09:4112 out of 15 trips.
09:43That's not going to get it done.
09:44Wow.
09:46It's not, but like the whole thing is you get a quick turnover.
09:50If you may hold them to three, that's a win, but we haven't held them to three.
09:55Yeah.
09:56And I think for the most part, for, for all the talk about going for it, fourth and two
10:01from the 46, getting stuffed, complete momentum changer.
10:04When they got the early turnover, when Odapa Owe gets the ball from Daniel Jones and Washington
10:09takes over at like the 19, if you're ever going for one, fourth and two from the Indy 11,
10:16where you just got a turnover and you're going to show, we believe in it.
10:19We, we, we know our defense can stop them again.
10:22Like, I wonder if that's not the death punch right off the top, rather than kicking there.
10:26The two field goals off short fields killed them.
10:29And he took the lead on one play.
10:31I think you get one touchdown out of those two situations right there.
10:35The, the, the flow of the game changes a little bit.
10:38Entirely.
10:38You know, I don't, I, both Tanner and I said when they got two, we were like, it's going
10:43to come back.
10:44Dude, the second one, I don't blame them for kicking.
10:47They had first and goal from the seven.
10:49Then Marcus gets sacked on third down.
10:50It's fourth and goal from the 11.
10:52That's a kick.
10:53You're not, the odds are against you.
10:55I just, I just, I just, I just look at first and goal from the seven.
10:58You got to get six.
10:59I look at some different, some different, uh, attempts.
11:02Some different approaches.
11:03I just, listen, it's just when you get two turnovers like that and you leave with six
11:10points.
11:11I've always said this.
11:12You got, you had two drives.
11:14You got six points.
11:15They score one touchdown.
11:16They're right back in it.
11:17They take, they take the lead.
11:19It was a fourth down conversion.
11:20Fails.
11:21They have a short field.
11:22They get the touchdown.
11:23They never trailed again.
11:24Because the, the, the most functional that offense looked was the field goal drive just
11:29before halftime.
11:31Yeah.
11:31That was the one time Danny don't, Danny Dimes was kind of calling the spots and Tyler Warren
11:35was just seeing the soft spots in the zone, sitting down.
11:38They were able to go whatever they needed, like 50 yards in a minute and kicked a field
11:42goal.
11:43Now, real quick, we have a lot to discuss, including the commanders bringing a quarterback
11:47in for a workout.
11:49But one question I get all the time, what's it like working with B-Mitch?
11:53And it's not the easiest thing to explain because B, you are a hard charging human.
11:58You want the best from people all the time and your expectations are high and that's cool.
12:05That's who you are, but I've said it before and you get mad at me.
12:08People have no idea the generosity side of Brian and the kindness side of Brian.
12:15They're not supposed to know that.
12:16Well, I'm about to tell them.
12:17So I brought breakfast in this morning and I'll be honest, that was two pronged.
12:22One, I figured you'd been scrambling, running around, traveling.
12:25I didn't know if you'd eaten.
12:26I wanted to just get you some breakfast.
12:27Two, it was also so Jeff couldn't have any because Jeff loves just getting breakfast
12:31for himself because we're in Ashburn.
12:33But I want the world to know.
12:34So as we were getting closer to London, we were trying to figure out our travel plans.
12:38There was some conversation of not having both of us off on the same day.
12:42And before I even knew this had happened, B-Mitch had told our boss, I'll just stay an extra day.
12:48I know JP wants to get home to his family.
12:50You got young kids, man.
12:51It's different.
12:52Like, you getting back to your kids is different than me getting back to mine.
12:56My baby is 24 years old.
12:59I get it.
13:00Now, sometimes she wants to act like she's selling a 10 to get whatever she wants, but she's 24.
13:06I get it.
13:06You know?
13:07I get it.
13:07I just want to know.
13:08I want people to know that there was never a hesitation.
13:10It was never even a question.
13:11You just did it.
13:12And I want you to know I appreciate it.
13:14Oh, yeah.
13:14Seriously.
13:15Appreciate that, brother.
13:15It meant a lot.
13:16Gotcha, man.
