US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is facing a leadership crisis, saying that several senior Iranian leaders have been killed and that it is unclear who is currently running the country.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said the conflict had been continuing for around eight months and claimed that Iran had lost multiple members of its leadership. According to Trump, the uncertainty over Iran's leadership is now one of the biggest issues facing the country.

Trump Claims Iranian Leaders Have Been Killed

Trump said Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was assassinated on February 28, the first day of the reported US and Israeli attacks. He further claimed that Khamenei's son, Mojtaba Khamenei, subsequently assumed the position of Supreme Leader.

However, Trump said Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since reportedly being injured in an attack. The US president suggested that the absence of Iran's top leadership has created uncertainty about who is currently making key decisions in the country.

Trump Talks About Iran's Oil Exports

Earlier, while speaking to reporters before departing for Maryland, Trump also discussed Iran's oil exports. He claimed that oil shipments from Iran are continuing at levels comparable to those seen before the war.

Trump also referred to comments attributed to an Iranian minister, saying that Iran was facing serious economic problems and did not have sufficient oil.

The latest remarks come amid continued tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel, with developments surrounding Iran's leadership, economy and oil exports remaining closely watched internationally.
