00:00In this video I will show you how to change DNS server in Windows 11. To get started with this
00:06the first thing you're going to want to make sure is that you have the DNS server address
00:10that you want to change to. So you can find a ton of different DNS providers by using Google. For
00:17example I've just googled best DNS servers for gaming and you can see it's given me a list of
00:22DNS servers for gaming. So what I'm going to do is use Google's public DNS and we've got the two
00:27numbers here which we're going to use to change our DNS server. Now to actually change your DNS server
00:33what you want to do is come back to your desktop come down to your search box in the task
00:36at the
00:37bottom and in here you want to type network connections. Underneath best match you should
00:42see view network connections come up just give that a click and that's going to open a window like this.
00:47Now from here find your current wi-fi connection so you can see mine's here with the green bars.
00:52What you want to do is click to highlight your connection right click onto this and on this
00:57menu that comes up you want to click onto properties. Now once you do this you're going to get the
01:01wi-fi
01:01properties window come up. From here you want to look for internet protocol version 4 so that's this
01:07one here. Once you've done that and you've given it a click what you want to do is click onto
01:11properties.
01:12So what that's going to do is open this window and you can see it says obtain an IP address
01:18automatically
01:18but what you want to do is come down to the DNS server section here and click the button here
01:23to use
01:23the following DNS server addresses. Now you can see we've got a preferred DNS server and an alternative
01:29DNS server so if we come back to Google the first set of numbers is going to be your preferred
01:36DNS
01:36server so in that case it's 8.8.8.8 for the Google public DNS and for the alternative DNS
01:42server this is
01:43going to be the second sequence of numbers which in this example is going to be 8.8.4.4.
01:49So what we're
01:49going to do is come back to this window here and we're going to enter that into the boxes here
01:55so
01:55for preferred it was 8.8.8.8.8 and in alternative it was 8.8.4.4. Once we've
02:04done that all you need to
02:05do is click onto ok and then you can close this all down and that's going to change your DNS
02:10server
02:10on Windows 11. So that is how to change the DNS server on Windows 11. Make sure to like comment
