00:04hutch we appreciate you being with us uh i'm sure you guys didn't get back till late so thanks for
00:09uh thanks for joining us and look uh tough day uh yesterday at carolina i know you're not going
00:14to throw anybody under the bus but can you help us out and what do you think is is most
00:18wrong defensively right now um you know man i'm not i'm not sure right now i'm kind of uh still
00:29still analyzing and still uh you know just just trying to figure out you know what's what's been
00:37going wrong and you know obviously it's not the standard at all i mean this is um this is not
00:43not not where we want to be defensively but um i'm gonna stay in it i know that it's it's
00:51early in
00:51the year um i'm gonna stay in i'm gonna keep improving uh individually and just trying to
00:58do anything i can do to to you know help our team win did it catch you guys by surprise
01:04at all that
01:05bryce young was getting the ball out so quickly i mean you guys got pressure on him but it just
01:10seemed like he was delivering that football within two seconds of the snap yeah i mean a lot of their
01:16that was a lot of their game plan was those kind of quick rpos you know their o-line was
01:22a little bit
01:22beat up so it's understandable but um yeah i mean he also has got a real quick release not even
01:29not even how not even uh like from the time it snaps when he throws the ball just when he
01:35makes
01:35a decision and he wants to throw it that ball is out in like a half second and real quick
01:41release so
01:41it's um yeah it's uh i think we definitely knew that coming in are the things that are happening
01:48in practice monday through saturday that aren't translating to the field on sundays is that maybe
01:55something that's going on you know man we had a great week of practice i felt um and i think
02:02everybody
02:03will say that uh you know that's why it's it's uh it gets frustrating you know i mean we feel
02:10like
02:10we're prepared well and um yeah it's just we're not getting the result we're looking for on sundays
02:19and so yeah it's uh it's very frustrating extremely but um but still gotta fight man we're gonna fight
02:29that's for sure how do you deal personally with that frustration both during the in the game and
02:35then outside the game how do you kind of keep that under under wraps yeah you know um games like
02:44that
02:44you just got to find ways to kind of create your own energy and create your own juice man because
02:49it's
02:49um you know we didn't get a lot of stops last night and uh man i was just trying to
02:54use anything i could
02:55during that game to give myself just keep going keep fighting and i think we got two two good
03:01stops at the end that um that that i was proud of those for sure yeah uh crisis management how
03:09is
03:09dan campbell in these situations after a game like this how would you what does he do as a leader
03:14and
03:15a coach with with you guys when when things are down like this yeah honestly dan is in these moments
03:23i feel like he's the best you know because he's never one to panic he's never one to um you
03:31know
03:31uh get to get anxious about the situation he'll just attack it with preparation and attack it with
03:38practice um and man make sure that we're doing everything in our power to get this thing right
03:44and um you know it's it's been a little up and down on defense man and but we gotta uh
03:50we gotta just
03:51find a way to bounce back you know and and uh give our offense some help man because um i
03:56i know if
03:57we can get this thing together when we get this thing together we're gonna um we're gonna be a
04:02dangerous team but until then we gotta we gotta we gotta find a way to to make it right man
04:07hutch after
04:09the game uh coach campbell said something which i thought he sounded like he said it with conviction
04:13hey there's stuff we can change and do better defensively as a defensive player do you see it that
04:19way that hey maybe it's scheme maybe it's more of this guy more of that guy do you do you
04:24believe
04:25that the answers are right there you gotta you just gotta make the changes necessary absolutely dude i
04:31mean it's sometimes i i don't know what it what it would be but it's just sometimes it could be
04:37the
04:38smallest of things that you change and um and then i think it's kind of catch fire man and um
04:45yeah it's just i don't i don't know what that is i i'm not uh that's that's why that's why
04:51i'm a
04:52player um but yeah i uh i got a lot of faith in in um and this coaching staff and
05:00everybody in our
05:02management so i i trust that we're gonna we're gonna write the shit man throughout your career is
05:07is there one thing you can point to where it was something that was very small which is a small
05:11adjustment but it made the biggest difference whether that was high school college pro
05:19let me think i mean my rookie year we were one and five and it was it was pretty dark
05:26around here
05:27and uh and then we rattled off like eight in a row or something we won like eight of the
05:33last
05:33nine or ten games whatever that was so um and and to be i i'm not even sure what the
05:40adjustment was
05:41back then but it was like the switch of energy and um and then we just defensively we start playing
05:49good ball we start playing a real good complimentary football i couldn't really pinpoint what that was
05:53but sometimes it's just an energy flip and but i can't give you a concrete answer right on what
05:59exactly that was i just uh i just know that you know we didn't make any big changes when we
06:04were
06:04205 but like it was something i dan and all those dudes ag at the time they did something and
06:11then we
06:12started playing high level defense and yeah um i don't know i don't know what that what that is
06:19though right so uh how about in the locker room after a game like that does anybody did anybody say
06:25anything that was particularly meaningful i mean you're a captain did you did you say anything to the
06:29rest of the team did coach campbell say something that you guys can take and and try and rally around
06:34anybody say anything after that game last night you know man i'm so tired of talk that i don't even
06:42uh in those moments man you know you feel like defensively we let the team down and um
06:50yeah it's just like to me talk is cheap man like look if you really want to do something let's
06:57go win
06:57the damn game and and uh and and make the plays we got to make you know and um because
07:03you can talk
07:04all you want but if you're not making the plays and you're not playing good defense you're playing
07:09good uh ball as a team it's like that that stuff is cheap so yeah speaking of talk this is
07:16more about
07:16a conversation that i mean it seemed like you were constantly taking bryce young down to the ground
07:23and one time the cameras caught uh you guys having a little bit of a of a talk a conversation
07:28it seemed
07:28like it was light-hearted can you take us into to what was going on between you and bryce young
07:35yeah you know sometimes it's when you're tackling someone i lose all my vision because i'm you know
07:40not my face mask is like in their back or whatever and um and i i remember i thought i
07:46sacked him in
07:47first and it was like one of the first couple drives so i'm like an inside spin move and then
07:53i got up and like i saw chubba or chubba hubbard had the ball i was like hold on did
07:59he did it die
07:59did i strip the ball out and so um i got up and we're both kind of getting up i'm
08:06like did you did
08:06you toss that to the running net he's like oh yeah i did i did okay i was like all
08:10right cool um
08:12so yeah that was a that was a fun moment but do you ever get dizzy from all the spinning
08:18that you
08:18do i mean your spin move was on full display last night that the commentators were talking about it
08:23i mean we've seen it for years but you do it so often do you ever get dizzy doing it
08:27all the time
08:29you know what i'll tell you i get dizzy when that when the guard is coming to help and he
08:34tries to clean my just absolutely destroying me that's when that's when i do get a little dizzy if
08:39if i have the slide with the spin move but for the most part no i'm pretty good all right
08:44hutch well
08:45look uh we've obviously been talking to fans all day they're frustrated do you have any message for
08:49the fans out there that are having a having a tough time today processing last night yeah look man um
08:57all the fans out there like i'm i think we're all pissed off and frustrated just like you guys and
09:05i think um we're going to channel all that into into next week into arizona we're going to find a
09:12way to get that freaking win and um i'll tell you what personally i this season's far from over for
09:18me and i'm i'm going to keep fighting and i know i know we're going to figure it out and
09:24when we do
09:25and when we're click on all cylinders we're going to be then uh we're going to be such a such
09:30a
09:30dangerous team but like i said talk is cheap so we gotta we gotta just get better and uh put
09:36it
09:36on tape great hey we have a listener question we go to kang behind the glass hey hutch speaking of
09:43spin moves this one's from david and romeo and he brought up like he sees you using that spin move
09:47often he wants to know do you talk to your other defensive lineman about what move you're going to
09:52do next like so they know or do you just do it on your own do you tell them hey
09:56i'm about to do a
09:57spin move here or i'm going i'm bull rushing or or is that like you kind of just on your
10:01own island
10:01i guess you know it's a great question um there are times when i'll tell them like hey i'm gonna
10:09stay on the edge here or hey i'm gonna counter or um whatever but i think for the most part
10:15um what
10:16makes a real good d-line is like when you rush together so much you almost don't even need to
10:21say
10:21anything and you know i've gotten to that point with aleem sometimes i mean me and sky gill howard
10:27are working on that as he's uh just being in his first year but like me and aleem are always
10:33such on the same page like on some telepathic stuff so um yeah that's uh sometimes it's communicated but
10:41i'd say for the most part it's more feeling the rush lanes and just playing off each other
10:46hutch we appreciate your time thank you very much we'll do it again next week good luck
10:51all right thanks guys there he is aiden hutchinson joining us here on karshen anderson
10:55i'm 97 one and scott and kang that is the first time that we've been interviewing a guest
11:01and i started to reach for the dump button because i thought a couple of times yeah clean my
11:08couple of times he was gonna let some expletives i did the same thing and i was thinking i don't
11:14want to dump him and then have to hang up on him like it usually hangs up on the caller
11:19too and i'm
11:20going to hang up on him but i'm going to if he does it he's a pro he's a pro
11:23right did you get
11:25the you know you can feel it coming oh yeah and i thought a couple of times uh-oh i
11:30think hutch is
11:31about to drop an f-bomb oh well there you heard uh from hutch and and sounds dedicated sounds a
11:39bothered yeah and and i wonder if people that just heard that and heard what aiden hutchinson had to
11:45say do you feel more confident or less confident that they can figure things out yeah like he said
11:53though and he kept saying it he's right talk doesn't mean as much we gotta go do it so good
11:58stuff there from hutch it's carson anderson and 97.1
