00:59anybody quote-unquote good because every week is different and so you got Arizona and you got them
01:06in a spot where it was your home game and Arizona maybe is not that great but you won the

01:11so you beat the Rams and they went to Australia the way they went but they went there as the

01:18favorites and they had Puka Nakua and they also had I believe Miles Gary in the game for a while
01:24and so you went there and you absolutely took it to him so are the Rams all of a sudden

01:30but we're gonna find out and if the Rams wind up being six and eleven then you can look back

01:35wow man the Rams turned out to not be quote-unquote that good you could beat Denver and Denver could

01:42on and be six and eleven as well so the whole thing about you didn't beat anybody good or last

01:47like oh the schedule it was a joke well yeah the teams that you scheduled against the teams you
01:53played turned out to not be very good but this year like you've got Seattle twice and you got the
01:58Rams
01:58twice and so I don't know we don't know what these teams actually are yet well and and they will

02:04what they become also I don't know like this all goes so week to week that's why I'm set like

02:10want grandiose sort of final sounding judgments um all I can say is that the Niners so far have
02:18looked as good as anybody but what like that's kind of when he when Steine was like what are the
02:23standings do the standings not matter and I'm kind of like well right now no yes they matter like the
02:30games count but like leading the division at the end of three weeks gets you nothing that doesn't get
02:37you anything so no I'm not gonna just because someone's two and one and someone else is one
02:42and two that doesn't mean two and one is better um like that just leaves all kinds of context out

03:21on a short week do we want these pieces as part of the conversation or do we want to just

03:35look at tonight's game where you've got you know Pittsburgh and Cleveland on a double short week and
03:39so does that mean that if Cleveland wins they're better if Pittsburgh wins they're better I don't
03:44even know neither of these teams is actually very good in my opinion so it's a Thursday night game and
03:50you just don't know and you look at the 49er schedule and there'll be games that they have that are
03:55tougher spots than other spots that are a little bit easier and right now you had a trip to Australia
04:00you did it right you came home and you've got home home home three home games in a row so

05:07August sounding like we sounded about the Los Angeles Rams and how terrifying they were and then
05:14you're gonna win by three touchdowns and take that from them like because the Rams traveled last
05:20minute that's why then the Rams traveled last minute right you're accountable for everything
05:26that you do you are and you are is the tape right so how you play when you travel are
05:32you awake are you
05:33asleep like you're accountable for all of it this was a team decision a team performance they are a
05:41phenomenal roster and the Niners trucked them and they don't I'm not I'm not letting anybody take
05:47the credit away from them because we have an opinion about the travel like in other words you would not
05:53grant the 49ers the opposite I know you wouldn't nobody would do that if the Niners had had some
06:00weird sports science and traveled out there 24 hours before kick and looked poor and the Rams thumped
06:07them nobody would have been like hold on a second not the real Niners gotta wait about a month or

06:13uh before like you wouldn't do that and to that point like if they whatever happens against Denver if
06:19you go to Seattle and Seattle suns you again if Seattle beats you by two or three scores everyone's
06:25gonna say oh Shanahan's got a Mike McDonald problem sure it's clear and Brock Purdy can't figure out that
06:31defense and you know the Niners maybe we overestimated them even though they're four and one now
06:36and Seattle beats you 29 to 11 and you're thinking oh boy well the Niners aren't at that level so
06:42every week we judge these teams based on the new information and what happens and I think that's
06:47where we are with the Rams right now especially and that's fine like I mean that's that's part of the
06:52deal you know what I mean I I think it's fine to be excited after three games there's no reason
06:57to
06:57celebrate yet but there's plenty of reason for excitement and that's because we do take every game as it
07:04comes but every single game has circumstances what if the Niners do lose this weekend how long does
07:11it take before someone goes well all the all the receivers were hurt all the defensive linemen were
07:17hurt they weren't hurt in all the games but to hurt in this game does that disallow the 49ers from
07:23being better than Denver down the road I don't know man I know the whole thing gets nuanced I just
07:29don't I don't think um a there's no room for excuses but there's also there's no room for robbing
07:35people from credit that's what bugs me about it I'm not gonna allow the summer to sound like it sounded
07:42and then the Niners go to Australia perform like freaking rock stars and totally overwhelm uh a favored
07:53opponent who was supposed to win the Super Bowl who had by the way on that day outside of Aaron
07:59Donald access to all of their people whether they were at 100 percent or not what's dibs's rule
08:05you were on the field right you play okay you had access to all your people and we're gonna take

08:12from the Niners we're gonna strip them of their credit for that wild to me wild to me how many

08:19are saying this is the biggest test they've had all year well and I don't strip anything from
08:23anybody and I'm looking at Minnesota right now as a good example where you beat Green Bay in the
08:27opener and then you beat Chicago without Caleb Williams you beat him nine to three but that's a
08:34green uh it's a green check he was there for most of it by the way he got hurt in
08:38the fourth quarter
08:38and then you go out there and you beat Tampa Bay and I think that uh Baker Mayfield also got
08:42hurt in
08:42that game but Minnesota's three you know and nobody thinks that they're gonna win the NFC or
08:47even the NFC North but you're three you know so for me especially in football what you do and you
08:54get a win you get credit for and if you take a loss well there's blame to go around and
08:59if you have
08:59guys who are hurt well that's just tough luck that's buzzard's luck you go out there with whatever
09:04you had and last year they went to Philadelphia with Kendricks and Wallow as their linebackers and
09:10they beat the Eagles so you can't look at that and say oh my god great win and then look
09:16at a loss
09:16where you didn't have people and say oh well it's only because they didn't have anybody yeah
09:20it's all the same of course of course um and who doesn't have injuries I don't know do we know

09:27what team right now is like yeah we're totally untouched Cincinnati huh they had like three guys hurt
09:35really I think so and I don't know I mean yeah like I know all the people that I know
09:40right they're all healthy but I don't know who I don't know you know are they missing a fat guy

09:49they have three guys on IR and uh that's it okay they're dead last among the most injured teams yeah
