00:00In this video, I will show you how to get a Google Drive API key.
00:05So I'll be showing you step by step how to create a Google Drive API key using Google
00:10Cloud and set up the necessary API access for your project.

00:23Now to do this, what you want to do first is come across to google.com and just Google
00:28search for Google Cloud Console.
00:32So you might need to scroll down a bit, but the website is console.cloud.google.com.
00:37So it's this one here.
00:38Alternatively, you can just put that into your address bar.
00:41Once you come across to here, you'll be taken to a page like this.
00:45Initially, you just need to agree to the terms of service, things like that.
00:48So agree to that and then click continue.
00:50Make sure you're logged into the correct Google account as well.
00:53And once you've done that, what you want to do is come up to the top left hand corner
00:56and click onto the three lines up here.
00:59And from this menu that comes up, what you want to do is come down to APIs and services,
01:03hover over this and in the sub menu, you want to select library.
01:07Now, what it's going to do is take you to this screen.
01:10And from here, you can use the search box, just type Google drive into here, give that a search.
01:16And as you can see, it's going to return some results.
01:19And what you want to do is select Google drive API.
01:21It was also one here for Google drive activity API, but I'm going to select this one here.
01:27What you need to do is give it a click and then click to enable it.
01:31And once you've enabled this, it's going to allow you to create an API key.
01:35So it just takes me to run through and enable.
01:38But once that's done, it's going to take you back to the screen here,
01:40and you're now good to set up your API key.
01:43So from here, what you want to do is come over to the menu on the left hand side
01:47and click onto credentials.
01:49And once you've done that, you want to come up to the top and click here,
01:53where it says create credentials.
01:54What it's going to do is bring up a menu with the option to create your API key.
01:59So give that a click.
02:00That's going to open up a window on the right hand side.
02:02What you can then do is give your key a name.
02:05So I'm just going to call this one tech tutor.
02:07Now in select API restrictions, what you want to do is click onto this box
02:11and look for Google drive API, tick the box, click.
02:16Okay.
02:16Once that's done, what you can do is scroll down and click onto create.
02:20So it's just going to take a minute now to go through and create your API key.
02:25Once that's done, you're going to get a screen like this.
02:27So you can see it says API key created.
02:30Of course, I've blurred mine out for security reasons,
02:33but you can see the copy button here.
02:35So you can click that to copy it to your clipboard and use that wherever you need to.
02:40So that is how to get a Google drive API key.
