00:04So I'll be showing you today step-by-step how to create and access your Claude API key
00:09so you can use Claude's API in your own applications, projects, or AI tools.

00:23Now you can see I'm currently here on Claude, but to do this, you need to use the Claude
00:27console.
00:27So to do that, what you want to do is open up a new tab, come across to google.com
00:32and
00:33just Google search for Claude console.
00:36Once you've done that, you want to click onto the first results.
00:38So this is platform.claude.com and then what you want to do is continue with Google or sign
00:44in with your account.
00:45If you don't yet have an account, of course, it's going to take you through the onboarding
00:48process and get you set up with an account.
00:51So you can choose how you're going to use the Claude API, whether that's individual or
00:55part of an organization.
00:58So in this case, I'm going to select individual.
01:00Once you've done that, it's going to take you to the screen to buy usage credits as you
01:04do need credits to fund APIs.
01:06So I'm going to skip this for now, but just bear in mind, you do need credits to actually
01:09buy and choose your API keys.
01:11And once that's done, you'll be taken to the Claude console homepage.
01:15Now from here, if you come over to the menu on the left hand side, you can see we've got
01:19the API keys option here.
01:21You can also use the search console feature and type API keys into here and then select
01:26it from the list here.
01:28Now, once you're on the API keys, you can see there's an option here to create your API
01:32key.
01:33So just simply give it a click.
01:35What that's going to do is bring up a window like this and you just want to set to continue
01:39with an API key, what you can now do is give your key a name.
01:43So I'm just going to call this one tech tutor and once that's done, all you need to do is
01:47choose when it expires.
01:49So whether you want this for 30 days, seven days, or if you want it to never expire, you
01:53can select the option from here and once that's done, just come and click on to create key.
01:58Once you've done that, it's going to bring up this window here where you're going to find
02:01your API key.
02:02Of course I've blurred mine out for security reasons, but of course you can then copy it.
02:06And just a note, as mentioned previously, this key will not work until you add credits.
02:11So make sure you add credits as well.
02:12So you can use your API key and that's how to get called API key.
