00:00Here we have the new Saru Exotic Backpack. This is part of the Red Moon event currently on the Division

00:072.

00:07A lot of people have already got it and a lot of people are asking for a build for it.

00:10And I was excited to try this one on my Blue Striker build.

00:13So we're going to show you that build today because the build's unbelievable.

00:16I think this will work well on it. Well, we'll find out for sure.

00:20But first, let's have a look at the piece. It's the Saru Backpack.

00:23It comes with weapon damage, armor, and skill tier. It's one of these.

00:26I've got a crit damage from Aldera, as you can see. And the talent is Decoy King.

00:30While in combat, the moon will cycle through its phases every five seconds.

00:35There are eight moon phases. Starting from a new moon, all damage you deal will be amplified by 5%.

00:39The value of the amplifier will increase by 5% each phase until reaching 25% during a full moon.

00:45Then it will decrease as the moon returns to being a new moon, restarting the cycle.

00:51During a full moon, deploying a decoy will grant it overcharge and the cycle will pause for 10 seconds.

00:59Now, I think during the phase where it decreases, it stays at 25%, says during a full moon.

01:06I'll show you why. You're not really looking at the backpack.

01:09I know it's got the cool moon animation.

01:10I actually don't like the looks of this backpack, personally.

01:13Like, what I'm going to do is go into my power menu and make sure I've got this whole set

01:20on and have it looking like...

01:23Oh, it's not worked.

01:24There's a backpack that I had on.

01:27It must have came with that.

01:29Let's just throw on a different backpack.

01:30Let's just throw on that.

01:31There you go.

01:32Don't like the looks of the backpack.

01:33You don't need it on.

01:34You have whatever skin you want on.

01:35Because in the firing range here, you can see the new moon charging up.

01:38Now, that's going to take a while.

01:40Every 8 seconds, was it?

01:42You're going to get 5% more amplified damage.

01:44Then there's the full moon.

01:45And we can see the full moon there.

01:47It kind of pauses at maximum for a little bit.

01:49And that's where you're going to have the 25% amplified damage.

01:52Not 100% sure if you keep the 25% throughout that whole duration of the full moon or whether

01:59it decreases as it goes down.

02:01That's something we kind of got to have a feel for and go and test.

02:03But once it goes back to the new moon, that's going to be building back up again.

02:07Now, my first initial thought was it'd go up.

02:09You'd keep on getting 5% amplified damage as it charges.

02:12As it goes down, you'll keep on losing that 5%.

02:14That's probably how it works, I guess.

02:17But when it is full, you can throw out a decoy.

02:21So, if you're on a decoy and you see the new moon on the hood go like that, throw your

02:26decoy out.

02:26It's going to pause it there for 10 seconds for you at the maximum amplification in damage.

02:30Now, I'm not going to use a decoy in today's gameplay because with this build, I use a shield and

02:36a hive.

02:36And I want to do a legendary mission for you to see how this feels.

02:41But yeah, I normally have a memento on this build.

02:44It is a prototype build.

02:45But it's the one I'm most excited to try this out on.

02:48I can't really think where else I'd use it.

02:51A lot of people I am talking to aren't going to replace the Vigilance talent for this or anything like

02:56that.

02:57I know it's amplified damage and it sounds great, but it is the charging factor that people are put off

03:02by.

03:02It starts at 5, it goes up to 25, it's not there for that long, and then it comes back

03:07down again.

03:08So, that's putting people off.

03:09And that's kind of like the consensus I'm getting when talking to people.

03:12However, on this blue striker build, it's more about survivability.

03:16And the backpack I used was to give it even more survivability.

03:19I get a tremendous amount of it.

03:21So, I'm thinking I could maybe lose the memento and replace it with this to increase the damage aspect of

03:26the build.

03:26And all it is, is 4-piece striker.

03:28You've probably seen this on the channel very recently.

03:314-piece striker, all blue cores.

03:33Every single piece has armor and crit damage on.

03:36People are going to ask, will this work non-prototype?

03:38It won't be as good as this non-prototype.

03:40No, because also on this build, we have quantum.

03:43It's a huge part of the survivability.

03:46Quantum is the augment.

03:47It gives you a chance of going immune for 2 seconds every time a bullet hits you.

03:53So, yeah.

03:53It's a big part of this build.

03:55If you're looking to make a build like this and you don't have prototype, you can make a blue striker

03:59build.

04:00I'll change the chest piece for a palisade chest piece, though, of obliterate.

04:03I take the 5-11 out.

04:05I'd go 4-piece striker, palisade, and yeah.

04:11This backpack can give that a go.

04:13I'd then take the backfire off and go St. Elmo's or something.

04:15And then you maybe go Echo.

04:17If you start building into that sort of build, maybe Echo or something.

04:21I'll start going quantum and change this as you get to prototype.

04:25But anyway, 4-piece striker, armor, crit damage.

04:29I then go the 5-11 death grips.

04:31And the 5-11 death grips are for the armor on kill.

04:34We're getting 15% armor on kill.

04:35Super lucky there.

04:36The max roll weapon damage as well and crit damage there.

04:40And then we've thrown this on instead of the memento, the Saru.

04:43We're going to see how this works today.

04:45Basically, there's 2 red cores.

04:47There is 5 blue cores with the skill tier as well.

04:52We've got a 6-skill tier Crusader shield.

04:55We've got a gunner specialization on this as well.

04:57And we're a 5-5 just in case.

05:00We're not playing with modifiers today.

05:01So I don't really use modifiers this season.

05:03It's not going to talk about that.

05:04Use what you want.

05:05But we are using a backfire.

05:07Backfire does tremendous damage.

05:08It'll be interesting to see what the damage numbers go up with this backpack.

05:11We are going to bleed.

05:13But our max stacks will stop bleeding.

05:14And we also have a stack broker to stack up the striker as well.

05:19This is very hard.

05:20This has Paradox on it.

05:21But everywhere else, it is quantum augments.

05:24And we're going to go and test it out.

05:26We'll see if this works as well as I'm hoping that it will.

05:29We're going to go and do a DUA legendary with this.

05:35Yeah, I love this build.

05:37We've run through this mission very easily with the memento.

05:40I'm intrigued to see how much I'm going to miss that bonus armor.

05:45Because we're not going to have the bonus armor now.

05:48We basically took the bonus armor out for amplified damage.

05:52And I'm not sure how that's going to work.

05:54We can only hope.

05:55Hopefully, we don't wipe.

05:57But this is the build I'm most interested in using this on.

06:00And we've been doing solo legendary with it quite easily with the memento backpack.

06:05So, it's just started a new moon now.

06:07And it's going to be giving me amplified damage as we go.

06:10Let's try and get the striker stacks up.

06:13Oh.

06:15That's good.

06:18Okay, Max.

06:19Striker stacks.

06:20Let's start annihilating.

06:22Get these backfire stacks up.

06:33The only thing I'm worried about is not having the bonus armor.

06:38So, I already see.

06:39And I've got to change the playstyle a little bit of this build.

06:43Because normally, I will rely on that bonus armor trophies.

06:47As well as the armor on kill.

07:07But I'm definitely missing that bonus armor from the memento.

07:11So, I am going to say that.

07:13We're going to have to play a little bit more safer.

07:23The bonus armor works with quantum so well.

07:28Because you'll run over the trophies.

07:31And you can just face tank everything when you've got the bonus armor.

07:34Knowing quantum is going to kick in.

07:37So, you all need to be a little bit more safer with this.

07:39But I think it is doing more damage.

07:42About to be on 25% now.

07:45But we've got to wait for the chungas to come in.

07:49It's hard to tell whether it is actually doing more damage to the memento or not.

07:52Because I do get over 1 mil crits on that too.

08:16So, I've got up to like 1.2 million crits then, right?

08:22What I'm going to do is we're going to just revert to the normal version.

08:28Okay?

08:28Let's give it a little bit of a test.

08:30So, I normally go memento.

08:31I think I see 1.2, 1.3 million maybe there.

08:35Because of the way it charges and then decharges.

08:38It goes down and that.

08:39Let's actually see what we can get on this build without it.

08:42Let's see if it's actually giving me a damage increase.

08:45Because if it's not giving me a damage increase, then what is the point, right?

08:51Because that's why we're throwing it on.

08:53Because this bonus armor, what the memento does for me, is ridiculous.

09:00So, let's see what the number...

09:01Let's try and gauge the difference in the numbers on this build.

09:05Definitely at max stacks on the backfire here.

09:08Okay, there is a little bit of a difference.

09:09So, I'm getting up to 1.1 now.

09:131.2s.

09:16Just maxed out the striker stacks, I'm guessing.

09:22I'm getting 1.3s with max striker stacks.

09:26See how much more survivability I have with the memento as well.

09:33It's quite hard.

09:36Like, I can proper just tank enemies when I see blue.

09:39When I see blue, I don't even need to think about the shield.

09:42And that's what I love about it.

09:44And we were getting up to 1.3s there.

09:46So, I don't know, you know.

09:48I don't think this is actually improving the damage on the build.

09:54But, we'll put...

09:57We'll put it back on, anyway.

10:05Remember, we've got a lot of stacking going on.

10:07We've got the striker stacks.

10:08And then we've got the stacks of the backfire to then actually see what the damage is.

10:12And then we need to time that in with a full moon.

10:15To actually see what the number can go up to.

10:17So, we'll keep on going and see if we can make all that happen.

10:23100% got to play a little bit more safer, though.

10:40I've had a few memento trophies.

10:43Now, I'll just be running through here.

10:48I wouldn't even be thinking about it.

10:50But, I'm actually having to take cover right now.

10:52This could be a wipe.

10:53No joke.

10:59This could be a wipe right now.

11:00This is an instant no for me for this build.

11:03It's where I was actually most excited for using it on this build.

11:08See how it would work.

11:10There's been a few backpacks that have come out where I've been like,

11:13Oh, that can take over the memento.

11:16And, they always fail.

11:18I can already tell you now, this is going to be one of them.

11:22Because, the memento is just too damn good.

11:25You've seen the difference, right?

11:27Like, let's just see.

11:28You see how much I'm struggling here with this backpack on.

11:31Let's just see what happens when I throw on the memento.

11:36We get our shield back.

11:37And, we actually start getting some bonus armor.

11:39It doesn't matter about damage right now, right?

11:41Even if it did give me more damage, once everything fell into place.

11:46I am losing so much damage, because I'm hiding in cover all the time.

11:51And, I can't.

11:52It might not be the best build for this piece now.

11:56Which is a shame.

11:57But, what we need to do is start getting some kills.

12:00So, we can get some blue.

12:03We're just getting spammed.

12:04If we wipe, we'll go again.

12:06We'll go again.

12:11So, I'm going to show you now with the memento how easy this is compared to that.

12:15Kind of like a little bit of a review for the backpack video today.

12:18People are asking about builds.

12:19This is the build I initially went to.

12:21I personally, like I said at the start of the video.

12:23I don't know where I would put that on like a DPS build.

12:28Because, I just go vigilance, you know?

12:30I just go vigilance.

12:32I just have the natural damage that's there all the time.

12:36Well, you know, apart from when I take damage for three seconds.

12:39But, I can't see that replacing vigilance for me.

12:42As it stands right now, this is the one build I was thinking about putting it on.

12:47And, it's already a no for me.

12:49I'm going to show you why exactly now.

12:51You've seen the struggles I just had wearing it.

12:53And, you've seen how good this build was with the memento.

12:56And, we're going to finish off the gameplay.

12:59And, watch this.

13:00It's going to be a completely different experience.

13:04This backpack is just so good.

13:14We've got to start warming the memento up by getting kills.

13:19We've got our stacks there now for the backfire.

13:22Well, for the striker, should I say.

13:24Now, get the backfire ones up.

13:27Then, we'll see those nice 1.2, 1.3 mil crits.

13:32I didn't see this guy behind me.

13:36But, we're low on health.

13:37No problem.

13:38Get a kill.

13:39Get a blue trophy.

13:41You know what I mean?

13:42We're getting annihilated here.

13:44Like, I'm just purposely taking damage.

13:46But, we have that option all the time of just picking up that trophy for health.

13:52Alright, let's not take much more damage.

13:54Though, it's not invincible.

13:56That's not what it is.

13:58But, that other backpack is not doing anything like that.

14:02Which, in effect, removes this DPS, in my opinion.

14:07We're already up to 1.2 mil.

14:09I don't even think it hits that much harder than this, to be fair.

14:13It's a shame.

14:14I had high hopes for this, but I was hoping that it was going to work nicely.

14:17In a group setting, it might work better.

14:34Maybe in a group setting.

14:40Yeah, definitely comment on the video of your thoughts on the backpack.

14:44I've been asking you in stream.

14:45I've been speaking to friends.

14:47A lot of people are not really excited by it and saying they're not going to use it.

14:52Maybe I'm not thinking about the build right.

14:55Like, again, I thought this build initially.

14:57Maybe there's another build it's going to work great on.

15:03Nothing springs to mind, though.

15:05I just think there's going to be better backpacks.

15:09Better backpacks, better exotics.

15:12Did we lose someone?

15:14No, we're good.

15:16Because of the length of this video, we're not going to finish the whole mission.

15:19What I am going to do, though, is just get past that area we wiped on.

15:24You'll see how easy that area is now we've made the adjustment.

16:00Don't even need to use a shield when you're getting kills with the memento.

16:10Was that 1.5 mil crit then on the head?

16:18Right, here's the bit we wiped on with the Saru.

16:22It just didn't have...

16:24Again, we're playing legendary content.

16:26It might be the type of content you want to use.

16:28Then you can have fun elsewhere.

16:29But this is a good piece of content to test it on.

16:32This is the sort of contest I'm running with this build.

16:34It's the build that I thought the Saru might have fitted on.

16:39You'll see the difference between these two pieces now.

16:42And why it gets a no from me really as well.

16:45I don't think there's anything I can think of where I'd use it right now.

17:10What we can do is now we can just run straight into the area.

17:13Get these guys coming out.

17:15And just facetank him and get the blue trophies off of him.

17:19We couldn't do this with the Saru.

17:21He just won't survive.

17:23We've now got trophies to keep us up.

17:26We can just run over them like this.

17:28We can just take all the damage.

17:30And this is what the Saru is contending with with the memento on this type of build.

17:34It's just...

17:45That's a shame guys.

17:46We did this video today to kind of have a look at it.

17:49And my thoughts on the backpack where I thought it would work.

17:52I was hoping it was going to work on this build.

17:54It didn't as you've seen in the gameplay.

17:56And I really don't know where I'd use it.

17:59I don't like the looks of it.

18:01But the talent sounds like it could be good.

18:05But I honestly do think a backpack with vigilance on is just going to be better.

18:10And in terms of taking advantage of the damage on like a build where you can do a bit of

18:16a hybrid

18:16with weapon damage, armor, and skill tier or whatnot.

18:19Something like the blue striker build I've just shown you.

18:21I don't think it's really improving my damage at all.

18:24Like the memento is far superior on this build.

18:29And I'd use that over this.

18:31But your thoughts matter more than mine.

18:33I might be missing something with this.
