00:00The third day of general debate at the 81st United Nations General Assembly
00:05kicked off in New York on Thursday as world leaders continue to discuss main challenges.
00:09Our colleague Jorge Gestos is in the city and has the latest updates on today's debates.
00:16Alejandra, you were mentioning the session in the morning where the Palestinian Authority
00:22President Mahmoud Abbas was making his participation via videoconference
00:29because it has been denied Avisa to do it in person.
00:32Well, in the afternoon, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu,
00:38was giving a long, very long speech and he was presenting his case.
00:44Most definitely, we saw a massive part of the audience in the Assembly here and what is called
00:55Hemicycle. So that was in repudiation of his person and whatever he presented was a version that
01:06was trying to portray Israel as a victim of terrorism, terrorism from Hamas, terrorism from
01:18everything else that is not pro-Israel. He was absolutely denouncing everyone that opposes to his
01:29version of what is going to be his reality. Mostly the big headline that he put emphasis is,
01:38we are going to win, period. We are going to win regardless. And in that sense, everyone in that
01:46speech that were not really on his wavelength, he was definitely disqualifying and they were talking
01:57the network Al Jazeera. We were talking about the universities in the US, given the fact that students,
02:08some of the students are against his version of the world according to his government. Also, he was denouncing
02:19Erdogan in Turkey because they believe that he is not a pro-Israeli person. He was even
02:28denouncing and trying to disqualify the mayor of this city, the mayor of Sonan Bamdami. And in a way,
02:38proposing that definitely he should not do his speech and he does not mingle with
02:48what is the rhetoric that Netanyahu is preaching all over the world. So mostly the speech, very long
02:57speech, is we are going to win regardless. Anyone else that do not agree with
03:05is going to be denounced as he did. So what is going on in the rest of the day? Well,
03:13the president of Bolivia, Mr. Paz, was addressing in the morning session the same thing. The president
03:20of Uruguay, Yamandú, Orsi did the same and is expected the president of Colombia to be addressing
03:28the General Assembly. So Alejandra, we go back to you according to what the events are going to develop.
