01:36wise like that um that that is now i see how the rest of the world lives because i got
01:41back home and
01:42the humidity just just yeah hit you right in the head yeah hit me right in the face um so

01:49you don't know what you don't have until you until you experience it um and and enjoyed myself did
01:55some things that i'll never do ever again including hot air balloon ride which was was quite you did
02:01that yeah i did that oh hell no i ain't going up in one of those things no way it

02:06was a great view um i learned a lot from that experience uh including you don't necessarily control
02:12where you land in a hot air balloon um so i didn't know that we yeah i didn't know that

02:17uh which is why you don't see hot air balloons in miami like or south florida or florida uh it's

02:23not something you could do everywhere you need a lot of open land and uh so that was that experience
02:29we landed in somebody's backyard um i didn't know anything was wrong with it until the emergency
02:34came um so you know yeah it was a it was a good experience before before we get into all

02:41football stuff did you fall in love on this trip no i'm i'm good joe i'm i'm i'm yeah i'm

02:47to get in your business that's none of mine anyway could you imagine if we would have lost omar in

02:51hot air balloon accident what a way to go out put away man that's not funny that that would have

02:59the way i would have chosen they would have been laughing they would have been laughing at you for
03:01years to come i enjoy i enjoy myself an air balloon accident come on i don't know i would want

03:10out though it's it's just that's how i am way to go out hitting one of those damn mountains in

03:15west coast there that'd be a hell of a way going out there hey yeah so anyway let's get into

03:19um i know you're not surprised by the the growth of of young guys and and uh so how long
03:27i know
03:27there's going to be physical mistakes how long before the secondary because that that was a
03:33little scary how open guys were man and zone or a combo or whatever they were playing and i know
03:39part
03:39of this has to do with the pass rush a big part can it be fixed though can it be
03:44tightened up as
03:44these guys get more comfortable playing with each other uh honestly joe my answer would be no because
03:52you're you're not going to be able to cover forever when you're not getting any pass rush
03:56um and both quarterbacks had all day to throw the ball um both teams they used their punter
04:04midway into the fourth quarter for the first time all game um you got to get third down stops you're
04:10not going to get third down stops without being able to rush the quarterback i think last sunday
04:16they did a better job stopping the run so that was a step in the right direction now the next
04:22thing
04:22is to get better pass rushing once you get better pass rushing maybe you can get better play in the
04:27secondary that it's it's not going to happen without pass rushing and i don't have any solutions for you
04:33on on how to get more pass rushing with the exception of maybe trump robinson gets back and
04:38and is more effective than he was in the first game

04:48i oh omar said he can't hear us right now you hear me now you all right okay yeah so
04:54we talked
04:54about how good he was in camp and he's a different guy in his body he gained some weight and
04:58stuff
04:59and that first game i'm guessing he's going to be back for for this game he's really the upside of
05:05of
05:05hope for if there's going to be a pass rush this year right uh absolutely uh now other people can
05:12get more comfortable in the scheme maybe kenneth grant comes back and he plays a better game with
05:19with zeke big i mean with um with with zach zach sealer um that's basically all the hope that i
05:26could
05:26give you um they just just sign somebody off a practice squad maybe he comes in and helps but
05:32i mean this this is where we are right now in terms of a team and it's a horrible recipe
05:38for
05:39for for disaster when you don't have any pass rush and you've got a young young inexperienced secondary
05:43exactly what are they going to do now i think a lot of it was magnified because of the caliber
05:50of
05:50the opponent that you played san francisco doesn't have a weakness anywhere on their office um so you
05:57know it's it's magnified you know who exactly are you going to roll your coverage to so obviously
06:04all your all your shortcomings and limitations are are magnified but i think that there's a potential
06:11for them to get better when they get kenneth grant when they get chop robinson when they get trey moore
06:16um the question is at what point is that going to happen and and you know will you be bleeding
06:23out
06:23by that time so uh there's a couple guys everybody's been talking about we'll get into that
06:27here for just a second austin jackson has been a been a hot topic and he admitted he hadn't gotten
06:34off to a great start yeah i don't think no matter what unless he's just god awful at everything
06:41that they're going to replace him with caden wallace do you agree with that or can you see a situation
06:46where they go all right we got to move on put caden wallace in there uh i think we can
06:52get to that
06:53point at some point but after playing max crosby and nick bosa jr uh i don't know if that's the
07:00point that you want to do that to um they should have given him more help he did not get
07:05it now is
07:06austin playing well absolutely not um did can we say we predicted this yeah he didn't exactly have
07:12the greatest of camp but i will say this what are your options and i just named caden wallace i
07:20wonder
07:21do they want to get caden wallace at some point in at the guard or tackle could you see him
07:25being a
07:25starter by the end of the year somewhere maybe starting guard um but that would mean we're moving
07:31caden proctor to the right tackle spot and i'm not necessarily certain that that's going to benefit
07:36you from a run block standpoint i think right now you're primarily running behind caden and then he
07:42hasn't worked anywhere uh at tackle so i want to i'd leave him there for the year i'm with you
07:47as just uh watching this thing i believe caden proctor would not move and they've kind of made
07:52that clear to that point uh and how they feel about that let's get into the big topic here
07:57see all the comments coming in about i still like malik willis just so you know how i feel about
08:03him
08:03i i'd like to see more support around him uh i'm not saying he's been perfect i'm not saying
08:08would i like to see him run when he's outside that pocket instead of wait for somebody to get open
08:13sometimes because uh yes but i know he's looking for guys down the field and if i was a receiver
08:19i'd appreciate that knowing that once he gets outside the pocket my ass is not now i'm no longer
08:25running a route and i'm running to get open yeah because i know he can make a throw to me
08:30um but
08:31what are your thoughts on malik it's going to be a a growth process and it's not going to happen
08:37immediately in game two um i don't have a problem with the way that he's played especially everybody
08:44thinks he wants to he's a scrambling quarterback he does not want to be a scrambling quarterback he
08:49does you know will he run absolutely is that a major part an element of his game yes but that's
08:55not
08:55the quarterback that he wants to become um i think he's made that pretty clear uh and and i think
09:01that
09:01they're comfortable with that now the question is how does how can he run a little bit and cheat and
09:07get extra
09:08first downs absolutely uh that just wasn't part that just wasn't in the cards last week maybe a bit
09:14against a different opponent it will be at some point um i'm not necessarily certain it's going to be kansas
09:19city
09:20either uh you know a lot of these teams their game plan is to take him away uh their game
09:25plan is to you know keep him
09:27contained um i certainly saw that approach against the 49ers their game plan was to keep him contained
09:33keep him in the pocket um you you you you're asking for trouble in my opinion and this is every
09:40quarterback
09:41every scrambling quarterback you're asking for trouble if you're asking your quarterback to scramble
09:46multiple times a game yes brock purdy did it and it was it was you know in isolated moments and
09:55he extended plays
09:56um that's brock purdy brock purdy's a veteran established quarterback um who's very good
10:02probably a top seven quarterback in this league that's not malik willis that's not his that's not
10:07who he is that's not where he is as a quarterback and brock purdy's got ridiculous amount of weapons
10:14where malik's weapons no no well that that's the other thing that we've given a hall pass here early
10:21too and again everybody's getting better i know it's going to take time and i remind myself our
10:27receivers got to get open we got to get some guys to run routes to to get open and and
10:33you know in
10:34fairness to chris bell because i see criticism coming in on chris who's listen he missed all the camp he
10:40all he's done is rehab and we kind of he went rehab run a couple of routes and then hey
10:45you're the
10:45starting uh wide receiver get out there that's a big jump i mean he's going to take some time to
10:51get
10:51comfortable absolutely um same thing now now you got caleb douglas sidelined um more than likely with
10:59it with with a ankle injury we'll we'll see what where he is from this week's standpoint but
11:04you're leaning on a whole young crew of wide receivers and expecting rookies to step up and
11:10first year starters to step up that's kind of unrealistic um you're going to take some of the
11:17lumps while while you know while they're gaining their footing while they're gaining experience
11:22t fences know the routes that they're running so you know they're trying to take that away from
11:27them the 49ers come on they they took caleb douglas's caleb douglas has a specific certain route that
11:32he runs um and he runs very well okay they took it away from him now now what and that's
11:39part of the nfl game
11:40whatever you whatever you want to do they're going to take it away from you and they're going to force
11:44you to play with your left hand and can you do that and by the way omar when they find
11:50out you have
11:51a weakness they will attack it until you do something about it and the next team will attack it
11:56so let's talk special teams and boring to talk about and i know it it's boring to talk about
12:03um our kickers yeah uh drop yeah it's i mean it's going to happen it's going to happen right riley
12:12riley patterson have missed two field goals spoiled this last she had a great year 27 to 29 now earning
12:17the season he's missed two one in each game yeah um some people wondered if either one of them might
12:24get released after this and i said i didn't think so what uh going forward what are your thoughts with
12:31special teams in general i think they'll have the next two three weeks to get get it solved get it
12:38rectified uh keep in mind both those players their contracts are guaranteed right now so um you cut
12:44them you're still paying for it not to say that that's a reason to keep them around um if you
12:49can find
12:49a better option sure it would it be great to send a message to the team that this kind of
12:56struggles
12:57and play won't be tolerated absolutely but i'm not necessarily certain you're making you're going to
13:02make that point right now to anybody um you know this is this is we we saw pinion struggle in
13:12the exit in
13:12the exhibition season he still made roster and his contract's guaranteed so i mean you're already
13:19paying for it you you might as well you might as well keep it but clearly that was a mistake
13:25that
13:25he made people are allowed mistakes i don't think it should cost them their job yeah right now i don't
13:31think he needs to send a message i that's a good point everybody's trying they're busting their hump
13:36they're doing all the right things this is this is more pat a guy on the back correct them explain
13:42to
13:42them it can't continue but you don't go threaten them that hey one more like that and you're gone
13:47it's not i i i don't think that that's beneficial right now but will it be at some point this
13:53season
13:53i probably will i i remember 2016 they were struggling um primarily on the offensive line
14:00and then they cut those three offensive linemen that was gase's first year and then all of a sudden
14:04that offensive line they got their act together and the unicorns were were developed and and they
14:10had that that team was led to the playoffs with a rushing attack i don't see anything like that
14:15happening here um but is it beneficial to send a message at some point absolutely right now is that
14:22is is that the thing that that we do right now i don't necessarily know and i don't think so
14:27and i
14:27don't agree omar last question i get to ask this all the time i wanted to ask you uh so
14:33people say
14:33well i worry about all these young guys playing if they don't have success that they're gonna mentally
14:39go into a funk and not be able to get out of it and i said i don't think so
14:43because they're starting
14:44they know they're they're given every opportunity they seem to be made a little differently across
14:50the board from the guys they they're not looking over their shoulders they know the situation and
14:54they know they're going to get every opportunity i don't think that's going to happen do you worry
14:59about that though with the losing and not having success and playing against good guys and you get
15:05dominated and you you don't grade well in front of the other guys and that stuff i don't think so
15:11because i don't see any options i don't see any other options and um yes it's important i think
15:18this is coaching staff is very aware they got to keep their confidence high they got to keep uplifting
15:23these guys and the hope is that at some point in the mid-season you get to see all of
15:29the fruits of
15:29the investments that you're making and and we saw this last year with caden with uh kenneth grant
15:35and with uh jordan phillips and with dante trader and and with jonah we saw them struggle and then we
15:44saw them start to improve and start to turn the quarter and then wins start to come and i think
15:50that that's the same thing with with this rookie class um michael taff um chris johnson i think he
15:57played a better game than he played last week uh you know cayden proctor i think cayden proctor
16:03probably struggled more than a lot of the other rookies this week but the question is can he can
16:09he take that film can he improve upon it and at some point the rookie jitters are going to be
16:14gone
16:14so and the question is how do they play when those rookie jitters are gone when they've seen everything
16:20teams are going to throw at them omar this is a big year i started the show this morning
16:25with this is a big year for this coaching staff more than any other coaching staff with these young
16:29guys and if guys don't get better a lot of people look at who your coach is and the coordinators
16:35as well and what are we doing you got to put them in the right decisions you want to see
16:41them get
16:41better and the good coaches are able to do that you agree with that absolutely i think the season's
16:47about player development and the question is you know what can these players be they've got to show
16:52something they got to show something that that shows you that it's worth the upside like uh you know
16:58what caleb douglas did or what michael taff did you got to show something that shows that this is
17:03worth the upside the investment that you're making in these young players is worth the upside and and i
17:08i do think that a lot of them have talent um and you just have to continue to uplift their
17:14confidence
17:15and i think that this coaching staff knows that omar thanks man i'm glad you're back from the trip
17:21one piece good you got a happy face right now i think things are good with the ladies i think
17:28things are good i think you're good where you are right now man lady yes lady excuse me with yeah
17:33yeah lady yes is this the don't tell me this is the one though when you see me i'm good
