00:17One of those programs was the day hub at Carers ACT.
00:21A lot of people with intellectual disability especially require routine in their life and
00:24if you go to Carers, the disability hub say four days a week, it becomes an enormous part
00:29of your life.
00:30Disability advocates and some politicians worry the closure is a sign of things to come in
00:36a sector soon to face big funding cuts.
00:39Day programs especially or programs that rely on people's social and community participation
00:43funding may not be able to offer services anymore.
00:47The federal government's upcoming NDIS overhaul will resolve in many users being kicked off
00:52or prevented from accessing the now $50 billion scheme and being moved to yet to be set up
00:58state and territory run programs.
01:00I think a lot of people in our community are concerned that this is a sign of the times
01:07and that this is not the first or last program that we're going to see cut for people with
01:12a disability.
01:12There's a nervous wait for participants with the cuts to the scheme and the closure of
01:18this local program both due on October the 1st.
01:22I'm worried about the other people who may not be aware because of their own disability and
01:31how it will impact them.
