00:00Well, let's start with Oregon, because I wrote Sunday for Sunday.
00:06We were week two overreactions, and we kind of got into Ohio State.
00:10I kind of like look at Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Oregon.
00:13Okay, what's this mean for the playoff?
00:15Because you have to do that.
00:16Here's my hot take.
00:17I think Oregon's in serious trouble as far as the playoff goes.
00:20I will probably not pick them to beat USC next week.
00:24That's in the Coliseum.
00:25I like how USC's playing better than I like Oregon.
00:28I didn't think I was going to do that.
00:30A month ago, I'm wondering, and you guys played, and I'm trying to think.
00:34I don't think you did, Bobby, but Steele might have had coordinator switches, right?
00:38When a defensive and offensive coordinator switch, sometimes there are hitches.
00:43And I know they promoted from within, but Will Stein was a very good offensive coordinator
00:48for Oregon, and he's doing a nice job early at Kentucky.
00:51Tosh LaPoi had a pretty good reputation as a defensive coordinator.
00:54I guess that's a simplified way of saying, well, why did they give up 550 for you?
00:59You know, you step into Stillwater.
01:02Drew Mestemaker was hot.
01:05And I just, something, watching Oregon, you can say it, it sounds vague.
01:08You can say something seems off.
01:10I don't like how they run the football.
01:12They're 0-5 on fourth down.
01:13And their defense, you guys will have to tell me more.
01:16Because I just thought, with their defense, bringing back the guys they brought back that
01:21could have gone to the NFL, and you add Coy Perich to it, I thought, well, the buy-in's
01:26high.
01:27They have veterans.
01:28That defense is going to be nasty.
01:29I wouldn't have thought Oklahoma State was going to go up and down on the field of them
01:32at will.

01:33They look uninspired.
01:35Well, and to that still, like, one thing Oregon was supposed to have, and I mean, people
01:39talked about them having the best defensive line in the country, and that's something
01:42like, there's not a lot of scheme.
01:44If you've got four dudes up there that can just get after people, and they had a lot of
01:48depth with that, too.
01:49I mean, what coverage you're playing in the back end sometimes doesn't even matter.
01:53And that's one of the things that was concerning.
01:55Like, Messamaker looked like he had a lot of time.
01:58They were able to run the ball, and that was very shocking based upon the expectation of
02:03what they've had out there the last handful of years.

02:06And it was eye-opening.
02:07You have the fumble at the end of the game, and it just, they've looked clunky so far.
02:11And Dante Moore, like, you know, it always falls on the quarterback first.
02:17I still think he is a dynamic player who can push the ball down the field with some of those
02:21receivers.
02:21They've got a really nice tight end in Jamari Johnson.
02:24But the way they're tracking, and they're going to go to USC next week, they'll be,
02:30I believe they play Portland State this week.
02:32So they'll get right there.
02:33That'll probably be a big number.
02:36USC coming off a trip to Rutgers.
02:38But I've watched both teams so far.
02:41And, you know, if you're wrong, you're wrong.
02:44But I like the way the Trojans are playing offense.
02:46I like their functioning.
02:48It's amazing to me that their top three receivers are freshmen, you know, with the tight
02:53end Bowman, and then their running game.
02:55I know Steele has a pod out there, too.
02:57Your teammate or friend was out there at USC, right?

03:02So I know it's a really interesting offense right now.
03:07And I'll probably pick them to beat Oregon next week.
03:09And I don't see that changing unless USC goes out on the East Coast and lays an egg at Rutgers
03:14this weekend.
03:15And that seems incredibly unlikely.

03:17And it's such a head-scratcher because all the names that we've mentioned for this Oregon
03:21team, they're considered first-round players.
03:23And I saw a comparison where it's kind of like a Thanksgiving dinner where everyone brings
03:27their ingredients.
03:28You're thinking that someone's going to be able to make a nice meal for Thanksgiving, but
03:32then there's no baker, like no one that's actually making the meal.
03:34So you have all this talent on the team.
03:36But it seems like you kind of got looked at a head coach, Dan Lanning.
03:40And he isn't able to work with all this talent.
03:43And maybe it's because it was more of a committee last year with Tosh Lapoi and Will Stein.
03:47And now that they're gone, they're losing a couple big voices in the locker room.
03:50But I feel like I have to look at Dan Lanning because you're bringing back all the talent
03:55from last year.
03:56And last year, they were a playoff team that was able to make, I believe, the quarterfinals
04:00or the semifinals, whatever it was.
04:01And now it looks like you're not even going to make it into the playoffs.
04:05So if I have to point a finger at somebody, it has to be Dan Lanning at this point.
04:09Yeah, and that's the test.
04:10And again, I could be wrong, but they could beat USC.
04:14They could beat Ohio State.
04:15They play Michigan.
04:16They play Washington.
04:19And they could mow through the Big Ten schedule and prove everybody wrong.
04:22But it just doesn't look as functional as those other national championship contenders.
04:28I know at the beginning of the season, I had written, here are the seven teams that could
04:32win the national title.
04:33I'd probably slide Oregon off that list and put LSU on it.
04:36You know, and credit to what Lane Kiffin has going on there at LSU.
04:40I know they have a big weekend, obviously.
04:42But that's how I feel about them.
04:44And, you know, I can segue into it right now.
04:47I feel the same way about Oklahoma.
