00:00:00All right, we got the next generation Silverado for a next generation NFL show.
00:00:05The Gruden Family Football Show. I love it.
00:00:08Listen, Jay, I've hosted a lot of shows in my day. I know what I'm doing. Just follow my lead.
00:00:13Hey, I know football too, man. That's why you begged me to be on the show.
00:00:16Right? I didn't beg.
00:00:17Yes, you did.
00:00:18I didn't.
00:00:19Did to.
00:00:20I never said that.
00:00:21Guys, guys, you're the Gruden Brothers.
00:00:22Of course you both know football. Can we please start the show?
00:00:26Let's do it.
00:00:45Welcome to the Gruden Family Football Show presented by the Chevy Silverado.
00:00:49Week two of the NFL coming in hot.
00:00:51And guys, I think we had a hell of a week one.
00:00:52I'm biased, but I think we did pretty good.
00:00:55Pretty good. I think we could get better, though.
00:00:57That's the goal is keep the train rolling.
00:00:59You got to get better every week.
00:01:01Of course.
00:01:01I'm the weak link. I'll do my best.
00:01:03That's not true. That is not true.
00:01:05You are the weakest link.
00:01:06Great show, by the way. I always wanted to be on it.
00:01:08I had so many people tell me they were jealous that two brothers just got to sit and talk football.
00:01:12I was like, yeah, because they're the best at it. You know this.
00:01:15My oldest brother, Jim, called. He's like, you guys get to sit next to Casey?
00:01:19Oh, please.
00:01:20For an hour and a half?
00:01:22I'll take that. Thanks, Jim.
00:01:24Week one, though, it was the highest scoring week one ever, Coach.
00:01:28That is absolutely amazing stat.
00:01:30When you look at the games, there were a lot of offenses firing on all cylinders.
00:01:33What's the biggest takeaway from that?
00:01:35The biggest takeaway is it was the worst opening day in history for tackling on defense.
00:01:41I mean, let's be honest.
00:01:42Some of these runs and some of these plays was because of inept tackling.
00:01:47And it's a reflection of how we practice, Jay.
00:01:49Everything's a walkthrough. Everything's modified.
00:01:51The Broncos missed 25 tackles in one game.
00:01:54They didn't miss 25 tackles the last half of the season.
00:01:57But we got to address the tackling.
00:01:59I'm watching the Chicago Bears score 60 points.
00:02:02And a lot of it was just horrific, awful pad level in tackling.
00:02:06And we talked about that at the top of the show last week.
00:02:09Fans love high-scoring games.
00:02:10We want to see offense.
00:02:12But from a coaching standpoint, you're looking at the defense.
00:02:14Like, what is going on in week one?
00:02:16There's a lot going on.
00:02:17There was some magnificent play by the offense, too.
00:02:20Let's not get it twisted.
00:02:21There were some really good plays.
00:02:22And there were some turnovers that caused short area fields, some easy points as well.
00:02:26So, I think it's a little bit of both.
00:02:29Poor tackling, poor defense, but some really good offensive football play.
00:02:32Which is always exciting.
00:02:33I love when points are scored, Coach.
00:02:35But you're saying the tackling was pissed for us.
00:02:36I like to see offensive execution.
00:02:38I like to see an offense earn it.
00:02:40I just hate to see a guy run down there and miss three tackles.
00:02:43He made a miss, John.
00:02:44He made a miss.
00:02:45Let's get on with it.
00:02:46Good running back coaches, right?
00:02:48Yeah.
00:02:48I mean, listen, somebody's always happy when somebody misses a tackle.
00:02:51You know, it just depends on what side you're on.
00:02:52So, you, every week, Coach, you're going to pull out just what the freak happened.
00:02:57What happened with these teams?
00:02:59What was going on with the Chargers?
00:03:00They lose 26-14 to the Cardinals.
00:03:03Turnovers on downs.
00:03:04Justin Herbert interception.
00:03:05All the things that went wrong.
00:03:06We didn't expect that from this team.
00:03:08Expected it all.
00:03:09They're 10-and-a-half point favorites.
00:03:11They're playing a team, Arizona, with a new coach.
00:03:14You should win your home opener.
00:03:16They got the Raiders coming this week.
00:03:17They better pick it up.
00:03:18We'll get into them later.
00:03:19But that was awful.
00:03:21The Broncos really ticked me off.
00:03:23I mean, you've got to be kidding me.
00:03:25On national TV, that was not good.
00:03:27The Rams, they had 32 hours to think about what happened to them on the airplane.
00:03:32They got their butt kicked by the nemesis, the San Francisco 49ers.
00:03:37The Carolina Panthers were the most disappointing for me.
00:03:40They gave a lot of money to Phillips, a ton of money to Devin Lloyd to come in and play
00:03:46linebacker.
00:03:47They got their asses kicked.
00:03:49And I couldn't believe Buffalo scored 36 points against the Houston Texan defense.
00:03:54A lot of WTF, Jay.
00:03:56There was a lot of things going on.
00:03:57You know, he was probably sitting at home just screaming at the TV.
00:04:00Yeah, I think you hit it on the head with the Chargers, number one.
00:04:03When you're a 10-and-a-half point favorite home, you've got to win that game.
00:04:06And they started out actually pretty good on offense.
00:04:08They've made some big plays, and then all of a sudden Arizona made some plays.
00:04:11And then you look in the fourth quarter, holy crap, we're down nine.
00:04:14We better pick it up.
00:04:15It was too late.
00:04:16Arizona already smelled blood, and they kicked their ass.
00:04:18It was beautiful to watch by Arizona.
00:04:20I was happy for Arizona and their coaches.
00:04:21When you look at the Rams, I know you talked about it, and you think about all the time they
00:04:24had.
00:04:25But a lot of people saying, like, how much do we put this on the travel to Australia?
00:04:28Because we shredded it last week.
00:04:30We all hate international games.
00:04:32We know.
00:04:32How much do you put it on there, just that insane schedule?
00:04:36Yeah, I put a lot on there.
00:04:37I mean, you ever flown on a plane 16 hours?
00:04:40Not great.
00:04:40The last thing you want to do is go play the San Francisco 49ers and have Fred Warner plant
00:04:44your ass.
00:04:45You know, you probably need to get yourself a couple good nights of sleep, get acclimated
00:04:49to the time zone.
00:04:50But the 49ers punched the Rams right in the mouth.
00:04:54And I think all these offseason moves, all the money they spent, all these MVP offseason
00:05:00glamour awards they got, I think it really motivated the 49ers.
00:05:03And last I checked, San Francisco still has got a great roster.
00:05:07It would be interesting to see the Rams on Monday night.
00:05:09Well, Jay, you and I both took the Rams for our Super Bowl futures, which was not great
00:05:12after watching that game.
00:05:13And I know it's only week one, and they only traveled 28 hours before kickoff.
00:05:17But they got physically dominated in that game.
00:05:19And I understand the travel's crazy, but that was a little bit alarming.
00:05:22The one thing that happens against the 49ers, if you're trailing the 49ers late in the third,
00:05:27fourth quarter, they're going to pound you into submission.
00:05:28They have Kittle and Trent Williams.
00:05:30I mentioned that last week.
00:05:31And that's what happened.
00:05:32The defensive line got tired.
00:05:33The safeties didn't want to come up and make tackles.
00:05:35It was just a bloodbath from a line of scrimmage standpoint.
00:05:4049ers dominated the line of scrimmage on defense, which I didn't expect.
00:05:43But the Rams usually have a pretty good defensive line.
00:05:45Had a great rotation last year against the 49ers.
00:05:48That rotation, they were gassed.
00:05:49The defensive line was gassed.
00:05:50And one more WTF coach, Cam Ward.
00:05:53We talked about him last week.
00:05:55What is going on with that offense?
00:05:57I don't know.
00:05:57Well, he averaged 5.3 yards per carry, but 4.4 yards per pass.
00:06:02I mean, they don't complete a pass over 10 yards down the field.
00:06:05They had one touchdown, I think, in six possessions in the preseason.
00:06:08I kept hearing this excuse.
00:06:10This will come around.
00:06:11We'll be all right.
00:06:12It's 20-3 Jets.
00:06:14And they scored a meaningless garbage touchdown.
00:06:18They got to find some way to move the ball.
00:06:21But Cam just looks out of rhythm.
00:06:24There doesn't seem to be any life coming out of the huddle with these Tennessee Titans.
00:06:29And they got these uniforms.
00:06:31They sure look pretty.
00:06:32They do look pretty.
00:06:33Very pretty color.
00:06:34They don't help them play good.
00:06:35And every time I see Ward wearing Warren Moon's number, I wonder, maybe he should earn that number before he
00:06:41wears that guy's number.
00:06:42Yeah.
00:06:43What happened to look good, feel good, play good?
00:06:45I mean, what's going on with them?
00:06:46Where was Calvin Ridley, Jay?
00:06:47He just didn't exist.
00:06:49He needs to call him, find out where he's at.
00:06:50I haven't seen him since he went to Tennessee, to be honest with you.
00:06:53They have a lot of issues.
00:06:54They can't run the ball.
00:06:55They can't protect.
00:06:56They can't throw it.
00:06:57They really can't stop anybody.
00:06:59I don't know what they're good at.
00:07:00They kick the opening kickoff out of bounds.
00:07:02I mean, it's a bad, bad, bad time to be a Titan fan.
00:07:05Well, we talked about the new head coaches.
00:07:07And, you know, six of them.
00:07:08You got to credit Minter and Baltimore, LeFleur, Kubiak, Brady, the two veterans, McCarthy and Harbaugh, did well.
00:07:15But these four head coaches who did not win.
00:07:18I'm talking Jeff Halfley in Miami, Coach Monken with the Cleveland Browns, Stefanski in Atlanta, and Coach Salah with the
00:07:27Titans.
00:07:28Those four teams, they got a long way to go, man.
00:07:31They might not win a game anytime soon.
00:07:33I mean, week one, we said going into when you're a new head coach, even if you're just with a
00:07:37new team, there's a lot of jitters, a lot of nerves.
00:07:40So, any grace for them at all, Coach?
00:07:43Let's get on with the show.
00:07:45Okay, well, then this is where I'm going to have to give Jay a little bit more credit because we
00:07:49do keep track because we're taking bets.
00:07:52You're getting a new suit.
00:07:53You're getting a new set of irons.
00:07:55I was getting fitted the other day.
00:07:57I'm already planning on a victory.
00:07:59He's already planning on a victory after week one.
00:08:01So, Jay went 10-6.
00:08:03You went 8-8.
00:08:04You went 500.
00:08:04But I have to point this out because very rarely did I think you guys would agree on a lot
00:08:08of games.
00:08:09But there were five different games you both agreed on and were wrong on.
00:08:12That was the Dallas game, the Denver game, the Indianapolis game, the Chargers, and the Rams.
00:08:17So, maybe you guys need to argue a little bit more.
00:08:19Well, most of America was wrong on those games as well.
00:08:21That's fair.
00:08:22That's fair.
00:08:23I'm not trying to throw you under the bus.
00:08:24I'm not trying to be negative.
00:08:25You don't know what's coming out of the tunnel.
00:08:26You don't know what's coming out of the tunnel until week three or four.
00:08:30We'll get better this week.
00:08:31I promise you.
00:08:31You've got to get a get right week.
00:08:33You've got to catch up on your little brother.
00:08:34You can't let little brother beat you around, can you?
00:08:37No, I can't.
00:08:38You can't do that.
00:08:38All right, let's go to the primetime picks presented by DraftKings.

00:09:09The crown is yours.
00:09:10All right, John, we're going to start with the Cincinnati Bengals at the Houston Texans.
00:09:14Now, we saw the Bengals beat your bucks.
00:09:16I'm sorry, you were texting the group text.
00:09:18You were saying, listen, what kind of car do you like, Casey?
00:09:21Because I said the Bengals are going to go to the Super Bowl.
00:09:23The Texans lose to the Bills.
00:09:26Where do you want to go with this?
00:09:27Because there's a lot of different ways we could go with this.
00:09:28I want to give you this turnover necklace here.
00:09:31All right, I've got to take my coat off here.
00:09:34Okay.
00:09:35The Bengals force four turnovers.
00:09:38And they were really careless turnovers by the Bucs.
00:09:41I mean, the guys are swinging the ball.
00:09:43They're changing it in traffic.
00:09:44They got the ball in the wrong hand.
00:09:46But Cincinnati wins because of their defense and those turnovers.
00:09:50And Houston loses because of their defense?
00:09:54I mean, they got mossed, man.
00:09:55They gave up 52 plays for 410 yards.
00:09:59So I did not see that coming.
00:10:00I would not want to be Cincinnati this week because I guarantee you,
00:10:04D'Amico Ryan, Stingley, Will Anderson, Daniil Hunter,
00:10:08they got the red ass this week.
00:10:09They're like, let's get this shit going.
00:10:12I can just feel the Texans at home getting right against Joe Burrow
00:10:16and the Bengals.
00:10:17I didn't see any Jamar Chase last week.
00:10:20The Bengals really didn't force Tampa to punt.
00:10:23I still think they're a paper champion right now.
00:10:26But I like Houston in this game to get right.
00:10:29But the turnover chain looks good, though.
00:10:30It does look good.
00:10:31It does look good.
00:10:32You know, who's that guy, Marius Miller?
00:10:35Remember that guy, Bain, you were talking about?
00:10:37Yeah.
00:10:37Bain didn't even get a fingerprint on Burrow's jersey.
00:10:40Not a fingerprint.
00:10:41All right?
00:10:41They can protect the passer now.
00:10:43I like it.
00:10:44And Jamar Chase didn't have an impact.
00:10:45I think we need to call it.
00:10:46I had a fingerprint!
00:10:47We got to call Joe Burrow and introduce him to his star player, Jamar Chase.
00:10:52He had him a couple times, worked the other side, which I don't understand.
00:10:55They had a four-by-one at the goal line.
00:10:57Chase just beats on our bullet slant we talked about.
00:11:00Beat him like a drum, and he threw it to the flat for a loss of two.
00:11:02But Chase will be a problem this week for the Texans.
00:11:05The Bengals can run the ball effectively.
00:11:07The Bengals have four new starters on defense.
00:11:09They all provided some impact plays.
00:11:12Very, very good.
00:11:13And then defensively, they're chasing the ball.
00:11:16They're making plays.
00:11:17They're exciting to watch.
00:11:19They believe in each other.
00:11:20You know what I mean?
00:11:20They didn't punt, but they got four turnovers.
00:11:22That's like four punts, right?
00:11:23That's even better.
00:11:24My only concern is Dalton Kincaid.
00:11:28He shredded the Texan secondary.
00:11:30Shredded.
00:11:31Late in the game, did you see how Palmer scored?
00:11:34I mean, they got Bullock, their Pro Bowl safety, and Blankenship.
00:11:37They are scared to death of Kincaid.
00:11:40They double him in and out.
00:11:41It's a clear double.
00:11:43And guess what?
00:11:44Our star corner, Lasseter, loses his leverage, and Joshua Palmer shreds him.
00:11:49They weren't on point at all.
00:11:50They were doing things I have not seen the Texans do ever.
00:11:53They were out of character, but I think we got some players on this Houston defense
00:11:58that are going to really rev it up.
00:11:59Well, I mean, when you look at the fact that they got torched by Josh Allen,
00:12:02it's not like they have some slapdick coming in at quarterback.
00:12:05They have Joe Burrow coming in, but I do want to talk about C.J. Stroud
00:12:07because we talked about him a little bit last week.
00:12:09He did have the two fumbles, but he played pretty well.
00:12:12Do you expect to see this offense take that next step against Cincinnati's defense?
00:12:16I love the addition of David Montgomery.
00:12:18He had a big impact on the offense.
00:12:19Nico Collins, always a big play waiting to happen.
00:12:21I just feel worried about the offensive line.
00:12:24I think the jury's still in deliberation about how good this offensive line has improved
00:12:27to protect them.
00:12:28I feel like sometimes C.J.'s a little bit giddy in the pocket still.
00:12:31He doesn't really trust his offensive line.
00:12:33They need to get better for him, especially in known passing situations.
00:12:36But the addition of Montgomery will help him a lot.
00:12:38All right, so Texans or Bengals?
00:12:40I'm going all in on the Texans.
00:12:41You just don't want me to win a new car, do you?
00:12:43No, I don't.
00:12:44That's what the—you don't want to have—
00:12:45Let's get rid of that.
00:12:45No, I'm keeping this on.
00:12:46This is mine now.
00:12:47You gave this to me.
00:12:48It's mine.
00:12:48Who are you taking?
00:12:49I love the Bengals in this game, but I'm taking the Texans.
00:12:53They're at home and they're going to come back.
00:12:54Come on now.
00:12:55Some kind of a politician?
00:12:57You love Cincinnati, but you're taking the Texans?
00:13:00I mean, I just have a—at home, they're going to come back and recover from a tough loss against Buffalo.
00:13:06That's all.
00:13:07I mean—
00:13:07So you're on his side.
00:13:08Josh Allen escaped the pocket a couple times, made some plays with his legs.
00:13:11Burrow won't do that as much.
00:13:13Just know that after this game, at about 4 o'clock, I'm going to be texting both of you.
00:13:17See, I see I told you so.
00:13:18Or, if you don't hear from me, you guys were right.
00:13:20Let's go to Sunday night football.
00:13:21The Colts at the Chiefs.
00:13:23Jay, I will start with you.
00:13:24You look at what the Colts defense—we talk about bad defenses.
00:13:27They gave up 506 yards last week to the Ravens.
00:13:30The Chiefs beat the Broncos.
00:13:32Everybody's happy Patrick Mahomes is back.
00:13:34But I want to focus on the Colts.
00:13:36How do they fix this defense going into Arrowhead against Patrick Mahomes in this offense?
00:13:40Lamar and Derrick Henry are gone.
00:13:42That helps a lot because those two sons of guns were awesome in that game.
00:13:45I think it's a sense of urgency big time for Shane Stryken and the Colts whole organization right now.
00:13:51They've got to figure out something.
00:13:52That was an embarrassing first game for them.
00:13:54I know it's Baltimore, but we both picked Indy, right?
00:13:56We thought they had a better defense.
00:13:58We thought Daniel Jones coming back would be a big boost for their offense because they were at one time
00:14:03last year, 7-2.
00:14:04I think they've lost 10 games in a row since Daniel Jones got hurt.
00:14:07So they've got to turn around quick.
00:14:08And I think it's time for them this year against Kansas City to really make a statement that, hey, we're
00:14:13not dead yet.
00:14:14We're dying a slow death right now, but we've got to come back and play our best game against Kansas
00:14:18City.
00:14:18It's going to be hard because Daniel Jones was struggling versus pressure.
00:14:22Spags is one of the best pressure coaches in the National Football League, and he sensed blood.
00:14:26He's going to come after Daniel Jones, see if they can pick it up.
00:14:28What do you see from the Chiefs and the Colts, Coach?
00:14:31I just love the new identity of the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:14:34I mean, we talked about Eric Biennemi coming back with this hard-nosed running game, and Kenneth Walker looked like
00:14:40Jim Brown.
00:14:41I mean, this guy had 175 yards.
00:14:44He was running his –
00:14:45Two touchdowns?
00:14:45I mean, he was running through Denver.
00:14:46Yes, he was.
00:14:47And that's not a chopped liver defense.
00:14:48But, you know, from the Colts' defensive standpoint, usually as a defense, you try to take away what the offense
00:14:55does best.
00:14:56Well, Lamar Jackson had a 124 QB rating.
00:14:59Zay Flowers had 150 yards on five catches, and King Henry ran for 144 yards, three touchdowns.
00:15:05They got their butt kicked by everything that Baltimore wanted to do.
00:15:09And I don't recognize some of the players playing on the Colts' defense either.
00:15:13Nick Cross is gone.
00:15:14Zaire Franklin is gone.
00:15:16And, you know, Buckner said it well.
00:15:18DeForest Buckner comes out and says, we got our ass kicked.
00:15:21And I was nodding my head.
00:15:23I said, you're god dang right you did.
00:15:25Kansas City has a new attitude.
00:15:28They got a new approach to playing football.
00:15:30They were under the center.
00:15:31They were accommodating Kenneth Walker.
00:15:34And everybody was interested in blocking.
00:15:36And when you got Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith and you got Andy Reid and you have an offseason of
00:15:41going 6-11,
00:15:42they came out with an edge.
00:15:44They were pissed off.
00:15:45And they took it to Denver now.
00:15:46And they're going to take it to the Colts at home.
00:15:48Go 2-0.
00:15:50And I love Noel Williams, the young corner of the Chiefs.
00:15:53I don't know if Masur Delaney is going to play.
00:15:55He got hurt.
00:15:55But he had a beautiful interception.
00:15:57LeJaria Sneed came back and made four or five open field tackles.
00:16:01How about our Mason Thomas?
00:16:03I mean, he had a great sack.
00:16:04I love the Chiefs.
00:16:06I think Andy Reid has done a great job getting this club ready to go.
00:16:09How does Spags keep doing it?
00:16:11It seems like he just takes a board and changes a name.
00:16:14And they're dominant every single year.
00:16:16How does Andy Reid keep his staff together?
00:16:18I mean, you got not only Spags, but Merritt's a great secondary coach.
00:16:22They got Joe Colon coaching the D-line.
00:16:24I mean, this guy's kept his staff together.
00:16:27Dave Tobe on special teams.
00:16:28You just got the enemy back.
00:16:31Andy Hex, the offensive line coach.
00:16:33They've had great continuity on this staff.
00:16:35They know how to adapt, and they know how to evolve.
00:16:39And Indianapolis is next.
00:16:41Poof!
00:16:42They're going to knock the Colts out.
00:16:43I know this is a buzzword, but it's the culture of the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:16:47They do keep rebuilding.
00:16:48When you look at Patrick Mahomes, you said fans were going to cry.
00:16:50Did you see any fans crying?
00:16:52Well, they didn't show it.
00:16:54But I guarantee you, when he was coming out of the tunnel,
00:16:57I could feel the electricity.
00:16:59And now there's happy tears.
00:17:01Andy Reid was crying.
00:17:02And you're taking the Chiefs as well, or?
00:17:07I'm taking the Chiefs.
00:17:08Hell yeah.
00:17:08There's no way I could take the Colts after that.
00:17:10509 yards of offense they gave up last week.
00:17:12They didn't stop anything.
00:17:14Pass, run, quarterback, design, run, whatever.
00:17:17It was whatever they wanted to call.
00:17:18Doyle wanted to call with Baltimore.
00:17:20It worked to perfection.
00:17:21And now they have to walk into Arrowhead.
00:17:23That cannot feel.
00:17:24They're going to be the ones that are crying.
00:17:25All right, Coach, I'm going to put you on the hot seat here
00:17:27with the Monday Night Football, the New York Giants at the Rams.
00:17:29But before we get to this game, we saw what the Giants did
00:17:33against the Dallas Cowboys.
00:17:34And I know we're going to talk about them later.
00:17:36But you were so high on the Dallas Cowboys.
00:17:39But the question is, how real are these New York Giants?
00:17:41You look at what Jackson Dart was able to do in that offense.
00:17:44You look at what John Harbaugh, how different they looked.
00:17:47Was it more about the Cowboys letting you down
00:17:49or the Giants kind of giving you some confidence?
00:17:51Well, it was a combination of both.
00:17:52But I credit the Giants.
00:17:54I mean, they played great football.
00:17:56And we did not have any idea what they were going to look like on offense.
00:17:59I mean, if Jackson Dart can stay out of that tent, you said it last week,
00:18:04he could become the next great quarterback in the NFL.
00:18:07There's no doubt about it.
00:18:08But what I love about the Giants is their opening drive of the game,
00:18:11their opening drive of the second half.
00:18:13They were methodical.
00:18:15They had three drives of ten plays or more that scored touchdowns.
00:18:18They had the ball the whole night.
00:18:19They were on schedule.
00:18:20They had third and one, third and one, third and one, third and two.
00:18:24Convertible third downs.
00:18:24They converted nine out of 11.
00:18:26And it's a combination of offenses.
00:18:30I mean, I see the Lamar Jackson stuff that Greg Roman ran with Baltimore.
00:18:35Then I see 72X shallow cross and 383 wide stick looky from the Andy Reid offense.
00:18:40I even saw a couple Joe Burrow plays that Brian Callahan brought in from Cincinnati.
00:18:45And I'll say this.
00:18:46Dart showed me a lot now.
00:18:48That throw to likely on third down and nine to start the third quarter,
00:18:52where he got hit right in his face by Quentin Williams,
00:18:54that's as good as you could play the position.
00:18:56And then he checked the ball down on third and nine to Singleton for a first down.
00:19:00Dart could be a superstar.
00:19:02He's got to stay out of that tent.
00:19:03He's got to keep his emotions in check.
00:19:06And their defense, to me, still has a lot to prove
00:19:08because Dallas wasn't on the field at all.
00:19:10Well, and they were nine for ten on third down.
00:19:12And just the way that Jackson Dart played and the energy they had,
00:19:15they have those weapons now.
00:19:16Now, it's hard not to get excited if you're a New York Giants fan.
00:19:19Fired up.
00:19:19The two additions from Baltimore are very important.
00:19:22Patrick Ricard and Isaiah Likely.
00:19:23These two guys balled out.
00:19:25Likely had two touchdowns.
00:19:26Ricard just does everything.
00:19:27He pass protects.
00:19:28He leads up on linebackers.
00:19:29He blocks defensive ends.
00:19:31He does the power blocking.
00:19:32He's one of the most fun guys to watch.
00:19:34290 pounds.
00:19:35He's everywhere.
00:19:36What a great addition for a team that wants to establish the line of scrimmage
00:19:39and play physical.
00:19:40Let's go get Patrick Ricard and let him lead up in motion
00:19:43and cut off the backside, lead up on the linebackers.
00:19:46Scadaboo, what can you say about him?
00:19:47He gets the tough yards.
00:19:48He's a great ball carrier.
00:19:50And then Malik Nabors coming back from his injury, playing through injury,
00:19:53I guess Harbaugh tackled him in pregame warmup.
00:19:55He decided to play.
00:19:57Made a big impact in the game.
00:19:59But Jackson Dart, you're right, I think played an outstanding game.
00:20:01Was very efficient.
00:20:02Converted critical plays when he needed to to keep drives alive.
00:20:05The time of possession was ridiculous.
00:20:06So, hats off to the Giants and Coach Harbaugh and the staff.
00:20:09Hey, how about Odell Beckham?
00:20:12Okay?
00:20:12Remember our caller last week was pissed about him.
00:20:14He doesn't catch a pass.
00:20:15But on the opening drive, they run X shallow cross.
00:20:18He's the X.
00:20:19And they cover him with about three Cowboys,
00:20:21and they're likely first and goal to one.
00:20:23And then on the second half, he motions across.
00:20:26They ran a Z spot route.
00:20:27I have no idea what Deron Bland is doing.
00:20:30They're playing quarters coverage.
00:20:31He covers Odell Beckham.
00:20:34And there's likely wide open still today.
00:20:38Odell Beckham bothers people.
00:20:39And he has an influence on the game.
00:20:42And it's a credit to Harbaugh and this coaching staff for using Ricard,
00:20:47using Odell, getting neighbors ready to play,
00:20:50bringing on Jackson Dart and developing this system.
00:20:53I was really impressed.
00:20:55Yeah, it was awesome.
00:20:55And I know our caller last week on the Shredline did not want Odell back on
00:20:58this roster.
00:20:59But as long as he's on the roster, they're going to focus on him,
00:21:01and the other guys are going to be open.
00:21:02I know we talked about the Rams a little bit off the top of the show,
00:21:05but they lose Miles Garrett already.
00:21:06He's on the R.
00:21:07Aaron Donald is hopeful as of when we are recording this today.
00:21:10Do you think they can get back on track now that they don't have to play
00:21:12overseas?
00:21:13I do.
00:21:14I think they're very good running the football.
00:21:16They're going to control the line of scrimmage.
00:21:17They do 13 personnel quite well.
00:21:19Matthew Stafford is very, very good at the play-action game.
00:21:22They still got Puka, Devontae.
00:21:23I think they'll be fine offensively.
00:21:25It's defensively I have a concern with their depth on the defensive line.
00:21:28The linebacker play wasn't very good.
00:21:30Safety play with their fills weren't very good.
00:21:33I think Coach Shula has a lot to do this week in practice.
00:21:36All right, who are we taking?
00:21:38Who are we taking, guys?
00:21:39Go ahead, Jay.
00:21:40I'm taking the Rams.
00:21:41I think the Rams bounce back in a big way.
00:21:44And I want to see, like you mentioned before, the giant defense.
00:21:47They weren't out of field a whole lot.
00:21:48I know they played pretty good, but I still think the Rams come out on top.
00:21:52You know, I had this thing when I was coaching.
00:21:54When we got our butt kicked, our whole coaching staff, we had the red ass, and we were not
00:21:59going to let it happen again.
00:22:00So whoever we played next week, and I got a feeling about the Rams, you know, they're
00:22:04coming off a very tough opening day game.
00:22:07And I'm sure Sean McVay and this coaching staff is going to have these guys ready to
00:22:11play.
00:22:12I'm counting on the Rams winning this game, but I'm very impressed with the Giants' progress.
00:22:16Yeah, and the Super Bowl favorites losing that way, albeit it was overseas.
00:22:19It was kind of disappointing.
00:22:20I would assume that they're going to come out, but I don't know what it is.
00:22:23I want to see Jackson Dart win.
00:22:24I do too.
00:22:24I want to see him win.
00:22:25This guy's electric.
00:22:26I love it.
00:22:26Colts got their ass beat last week.
00:22:28Aren't they going to come out the red ass?
00:22:30Yeah.
00:22:31Well, they're going to come out red.
00:22:33They're going to come out red because their ass is still red from the beginning.
00:22:35They might be able to come out that way, but can they actually sustain?
00:22:38It doesn't look like it.
00:22:39They got their asses beat.
00:22:40All right.
00:22:40It is time for Gruden's Grease Board, which was an absolute hit in week one.
00:22:44It's presented by Chevy.
00:22:45The Gruden Family Football Show and Gruden's Grease Board is presented by the next generation
00:22:49Chevy Silverado.
00:22:50The most powerful and advanced Silverado ever, combining serious capability, advanced technology,
00:22:55a bold commanding design, and the kind of confidence you want when the pressure is on.
00:22:59Visit Chevy.com to learn why the next generation Silverado is leading the league.
00:23:03And guys, our commercial looks great.
00:23:04Jay needs an Academy Award.
00:23:06This guy's an actor.
00:23:07He's great.
00:23:08He might have been one of the worst actors I've ever heard.
00:23:10I thought you were great.
00:23:12I thought you were great.
00:23:13You looked good driving the truck.
00:23:14And listen, I just had to break up the fights.
00:23:16It took us three hours to make the commercial because he couldn't drive to a car.
00:23:19Yeah, luckily you had the Chevy Silverado to keep you in line.
00:23:23Let's go to Gruden's Grease Board.
00:23:26All right, we're going to start with the Vikings at the Bears.
00:23:29Now, Coach, the Vikings have won six straight at Soldier Field, so that is not good for the
00:23:34Bears.
00:23:34However, you talked about this last week on the Grease Board.
00:23:36What the Bears have been doing on offense, specifically in the run game, has been incredible.
00:23:40We saw how many points they scored last week.
00:23:42They're just going to keep building on this.
00:23:44Yeah, I give Ben Johnson a lot of credit.
00:23:46He and his coaching staff.
00:23:48But when I watched that Carolina game last week, it wasn't like they were curing diseases here.
00:23:53They ran the same play.
00:23:54I call it 12-duo out of the shotgun four times for four touchdowns.
00:23:59I mean, they're on the goal line.
00:24:01They hand the ball off.
00:24:02And duo, we're going to get a double team.
00:24:04And on the goal line, this is Derrick Brown of the Carolina Panthers, number 95.
00:24:10And Jonah Jackson and Darnell Wright is why we run right.
00:24:14They had a freeze deuce.
00:24:15And they picked up Derrick Brown and deposited him into the linebacker.
00:24:21And he ran right off that double team and scored.
00:24:23And I'll say this.
00:24:24Colston Loveland at tight end, he brought Jalen Phillips like he was a blocking slit.
00:24:29I mean, this guy walked into the end zone easy.
00:24:32The receiver came in short motion.
00:24:34And Trayvon marrying the safety didn't look like he attacked that block.
00:24:38And I have no idea what Mike Jackson has done.
00:24:40Because when that wide receiver cracks, you've got to replace.
00:24:44And Jackson didn't do it twice.
00:24:46Monunga went for 60.
00:24:47Swift went for 35.
00:24:49And then, what does Ben Johnson call the one-yard line?
00:24:52Let's go 12-duo.
00:24:54Boom!
00:24:54It was Bobby Brown.
00:24:55Boom!
00:24:56Derrick Brown.
00:24:56If Charlie Brown was playing for Carolina, he would have got his ass kicked.
00:25:00But they ran duo right down their throat.
00:25:04Where's that gong?
00:25:06Oh, this is Carolina's run defense.
00:25:08Don't drop it.
00:25:08Jay, give me some grace.
00:25:12It's heavy, okay, Jay?
00:25:14It's heavy.
00:25:14So, for Bear fans, get excited about that.
00:25:17But Minnesota, with Brian Flores, we're going to get into them in a minute.
00:25:21That they're going to run a lot of linebackers into these gaps.
00:25:24This play will have a lot harder time against Minnesota.
00:25:27But let's talk about Carson Wentz and the job he did for the Vikings.
00:25:31Kyler Murray goes out with a concussion early.
00:25:34But what impressed you about Carson Wentz last week?
00:25:36Well, all we heard about the offseason was Kyler Murray versus J.J. McCarthy.
00:25:41Carson Wentz is nowhere to be found.
00:25:42He's probably not getting any reps.
00:25:44But this veteran guy comes in here.
00:25:45Kyler's hurt.
00:25:46Hey, Carson, get in here.
00:25:47He comes in there.
00:25:48He's just raw.
00:25:50Gets him on a hard count early in the game.
00:25:53Justin Jefferson gets a go ball.
00:25:55The Green Bay jumps off sides.
00:25:56And it's the first touchdown Justin Jefferson scored in Minnesota in a year and a half.
00:26:00So, that's on the quarterback.
00:26:01Great throw.
00:26:02Unbelievable catch by Justin Jefferson.
00:26:03But the quarterback pre-snap, getting the defensive line to jump off sides,
00:26:07having the ability to throw the ball deep for a touchdown is big.
00:26:10Then they get to red zone.
00:26:11They call two-jet broom X individual.
00:26:14X individual, let's say, runs a go ball.
00:26:16Broom is a play where Addison's going to run a double move.
00:26:19He's going to sell the under.
00:26:20And then, boom, take it to the back corner of the end zone.
00:26:22Our Z, our F receiver's going to run like he's running under.
00:26:26Snap it back out for a quarterback safety valve.
00:26:28And our tight end, T.J.
00:26:29Hockinson, who gets a split safety, it's a big alert for a split safety now.
00:26:33Big alert.
00:26:34He's going to attack this linebacker and then go right down the middle of the field.
00:26:38Carson Wentz sees the safety not in play.
00:26:40Sees T.J.
00:26:41Hockinson and rips it to him for an easy touchdown.
00:26:43I mean, you've got many answers here.
00:26:44You've got that one.
00:26:45If it's single high safety, you've got a possibility for the double move for Addison
00:26:48and then finish on this play.
00:26:49Or you should get the receiver on the backside against cover zero.
00:26:53So, it's a great all-purpose play.
00:26:54But Carson Wentz recognizes it as a play he's run before
00:26:57and dropped the perfect throw to Hockinson.
00:26:59Why do you get the other touchdown on the boot?
00:27:02This boot is sick.
00:27:03You know, not many teams are going to slide the receiver that's on the ball, right?
00:27:08He's on the line of scrimmage.
00:27:09He's on the line of scrimmage.
00:27:10But first of all, they ran a lot of times this toss crack with the receiver block in the end,
00:27:15fullback, tackle pulling.
00:27:16They ran it like five times in the game.
00:27:18So, in the red zone, they said, you know what?
00:27:20Let's run the toss sweep.
00:27:22He'll slide Justin Jefferson.
00:27:24He takes a step back, slides behind the line of scrimmage.
00:27:27Tight end goes down like he's to the back corner.
00:27:30This guy's going to pin the defensive end.
00:27:32He's going to run a late down flat.
00:27:34Justin Jefferson outflanks his defense for two completions and one for a touchdown.
00:27:38I mean, you talk about full flow now.
00:27:40We've got the fullback going, tackles pulling.
00:27:42We are freaking rolling.
00:27:43And this is a great play.
00:27:45All right.
00:27:45So, the big question is, are the Vikings going to win seven straight at Soldier Field
00:27:49or do the Bears snap the streak?
00:27:50This has a lot more than just these plays.
00:27:53Obviously, Brian Flores, he blitzed 80% of the time last week.
00:27:57Now, he took advantage of a beat-up backup group alignment in Green Bay.
00:28:01They kicked Green Bay's ass.
00:28:03They scored 29 unanswered points.
00:28:05I've never seen anything like this.
00:28:07And some of the blitzes are one thing.
00:28:09But some of these coverages, they are vulnerable.
00:28:12Jordan Love threw for 400 yards.
00:28:14I think Chicago wins this game because of Caleb Williams' legs.
00:28:18I mean, his scrambling, man.
00:28:20He scrambled for two touchdowns last week.
00:28:23Minnesota's got a bunch of young guys on this front.
00:28:26They do have some experience at linebacker.
00:28:28But I take the Bears on Caleb Williams' scramble plays.
00:28:31And I think Ben Johnson has seen Flores enough.
00:28:35He'll have some answers against these blitz coverages.
00:28:37Yeah, Caleb Williams had four touchdowns last week.
00:28:40Unbelievable.
00:28:40But are you riding with your brother or are you going to go with the Vikings?
00:28:43Well, Ben Johnson will run the ball against the Vikings.
00:28:45There's no doubt about it.
00:28:46The one thing Brian Flores will do is he'll give you a lot of different fronts.
00:28:49Six-man fronts, five-man fronts to try to confuse the offensive linemen and stop the running game.
00:28:54The thing is, if I'm Kevin O'Connell, right, are you switching over to listen to the defensive calls?
00:28:59Are you going to close your eyes when he calls some of these cover zeroes, the coverages that they're playing?
00:29:03Guys are wide open.
00:29:05Jayden Reed had a little pop pass.
00:29:07If he catches, he runs for 50 yards.
00:29:09And he dropped it.
00:29:10I mean, these guys are wide open.
00:29:11But he's counting on the pressure.
00:29:13He's dialing them up.
00:29:14And it's been working.
00:29:15Although, they did give up 400 yards.
00:29:17But still, it's a roll-the-dice defense.
00:29:20And if I was a head coach, I'd be scared to death when they call these.
00:29:23Well, Harrison Smith is back.
00:29:25He's going to be on the line of scrimmage.
00:29:27And he will look like he's blitzing.
00:29:29Now, he won't disappoint you.
00:29:30He almost peeled Aaron Rodgers' face off last year in London.
00:29:33He got home the other.
00:29:35The guy was shook.
00:29:36I'm coming.
00:29:36I'm coming.
00:29:37And all of a sudden, he'll take off and run back to the deep half.
00:29:39He is a great disguise artist.
00:29:41But I can't imagine him getting away with some of these coverages they got away with last week.
00:29:45You freeze the film.
00:29:46And guys are wide open.
00:29:48But the quarterback's on his back.
00:29:49So, I mean, what's the heck?
00:29:50It doesn't matter if he's wide open.
00:29:51Yeah, exactly.
00:29:52So, you're taking the Bears?
00:29:54I'm taking the Bears.
00:29:55I like Carson Wentz, but I'm not ready for him yet.
00:29:58But I am worried about the Bears' defense.
00:30:00I mean, let's be honest.
00:30:01They gave up 480 yards to Bryce Young and the Panthers, who are one of the worst scoring defenses in
00:30:06football.
00:30:06I just don't feel any pass rush at all, other than Montez Sweat.
00:30:10And he gets tired at the end of the game.
00:30:12And all the guys that created the turnovers are gone.
00:30:15I mean, where the hell's Brisker and Kevin Byard and Tremaine Edmonds?
00:30:19They're not even in Chicago.
00:30:20So, the Bears' defense against Justin Jefferson and this receiving core of the Vikings, they better strap it on and
00:30:27simplify things or they're in trouble.
00:30:29Yeah, they need to figure that out.
00:30:30The offense can do as much as they did.
00:30:32But if the defense hasn't figured out, it could be a long season.
00:30:34And we have to talk about, speaking of a long season, the Washington Commanders, Jay, they're playing the Dallas Cowboys.
00:30:40There are a lot of conversations going on about that two-point play call that they had against the Philadelphia
00:30:44Eagles.
00:30:44And I feel like fans are just up in arms about what happened.
00:30:48What did you see?
00:30:49Well, I think they're up in arms for a good reason.
00:30:51They want their star player, Jayden Daniels, to have the ball with a run-pass type option.
00:30:56Yes, Stephon Diggs, you got Terry McLaurin.
00:30:58They'd like him to have the option, not to shovel pass it to John Bates, for God's sakes.
00:31:02However, it was a perfect look, John.
00:31:05Yeah, if you told me I would get this look.
00:31:07This is the look.
00:31:07They run the shovel pass to Bates.
00:31:10They bring them in short motion to secure the look.
00:31:13They want to run this play only against the light box.
00:31:16And, boy, did they get a light box.
00:31:18I mean, hell, Zach Bond moved out of the formation.
00:31:20And they get a double-team at the point of attack.
00:31:24Coleman does a nice job, and they double-team to the linebacker.
00:31:27And I'm telling you, the end, okay, the end, he reacts to Daniels and this flare by the back.
00:31:35He's gone.
00:31:35He's floating out here in the flat.
00:31:37Zach Bond's out here in the flat.
00:31:39And I'm telling you, here comes Sam Cosby, their best lineman.
00:31:42And he's going to pull around the horn.
00:31:44There's not even Zach Bond there.
00:31:45He's gone.
00:31:46Gone.
00:31:46He's pulling around air.
00:31:48The tackle does a nice job hard jabbing and picking on the backside.
00:31:51Here comes Bates.
00:31:53Daniels makes it look like it's a sprint-out pass.
00:31:56The end widens.
00:31:57Bond widens.
00:31:58There's nobody there.
00:31:59And Nick Algretti.
00:32:00Okay?
00:32:01I like Algretti.
00:32:02He's got Mauro Ojomo in the perfect position.
00:32:06Don't get beat over the top, Mauro.
00:32:08Don't get beat over the top.
00:32:09Anything but over the top.
00:32:10Don't get beat over the top.
00:32:11Don't do it.
00:32:12He gets beat where?
00:32:13Over the top.
00:32:14And Mauro Ojomo is the player of the year.
00:32:16This should have walked in.
00:32:18I guarantee you, the offensive coordinator, Blau, is up there going,
00:32:22we got him.
00:32:23We got him.
00:32:24And he's got to be shit.
00:32:26I mean, this has got to be the most horrific feeling in the offensive staff room ever for the command.
00:32:31As I'm saying, it's a long season.
00:32:33The play before they challenged that catch by Williams for a touchdown, it took like eight minutes.
00:32:37So they had a long time.
00:32:38Talked to the linemen.
00:32:39Yeah.
00:32:39Talked to the tight end.
00:32:40Talked to the quarterback about this play.
00:32:42Yeah.
00:32:42Centers, when you block back on the shovel pass, don't get beat over the top.
00:32:47You can't do it.
00:32:48You can't get beat over the top.
00:32:49You got beat over the top.
00:32:50You can't.
00:32:5024-22.
00:32:51When you look at this game with the Cowboys and the Commanders,
00:32:55starting 0-2 when you're in the NFC East is not a good way to start out.
00:32:58So who's starting 0-2 this week?
00:32:59I don't know.
00:33:00You know, you don't like to go outside with two black eyes, do you?
00:33:03No.
00:33:03You've got to win this game.
00:33:04There's a lot at stake when you start talking about, you know, tiebreakers and things like that
00:33:09at the end of the season.
00:33:11I was with the Cowboys last week.
00:33:14I've been on their bandwagon.
00:33:16I think they're going to win this game at home.
00:33:18I think it's going to be tight.
00:33:19It's going to be hard fought.
00:33:20I like Dallas.
00:33:21I think Christian Parker on defense, he's playing a lot of split safety shells.
00:33:26He is vulnerable against the run, though, but they are eliminating big plays.
00:33:31And I can't imagine C.D. Lamb and George Pickens being quiet again.
00:33:36I've got to think they're going to have big days.
00:33:38I don't know what Sainer still is doing.
00:33:40He gave up 10 touchdowns last year.
00:33:43He got burned twice for touchdowns against Philly.
00:33:46I just think these receivers are going to expose this secondary, and they had a hard time stopping
00:33:52Dallas Goddard down the middle.
00:33:54Dallas has too many weapons for the Commanders, and they're going to win this game.
00:33:57Jay, what do you think?
00:33:57I don't disagree with anything you said, but I do think there might be a little blueprint
00:34:01out there to play the Cowboys.
00:34:02Let's get physical and bloody in them.
00:34:04Bates comes in the game, two tight end sets, three tight end sets, and then we can get
00:34:07Jaden Daniels on the outside of some play actions.
00:34:09And let's get Terry McLaurin going on some deep balls, for God's sakes.
00:34:13Terry McLaurin, he's number 17.
00:34:15Scary Terry, my boy.
00:34:17Scary Terry.
00:34:17Terry Terry, I'm telling you.
00:34:19We're going to hit some big plays down the field.
00:34:21I think it's going to be a shocking, shocking upset here in the greatest rivalry of all time.
00:34:26The Commanders, or Redskins, I should say, win it in a high-scoring game.
00:34:30Or the football team, depending on who you are.
00:34:31Whatever you want to say.
00:34:32So you don't think Scary Terry is scary anymore?
00:34:34It'd be nice if we threw him a pass.
00:34:36It'd be nice.
00:34:37I thought Antonio Williams was really good.
00:34:39I did like Stephon Diggs on the choice route against Cooper DeGene.
00:34:43That's the first time I've seen somebody prove that DeGene is human.
00:34:47But they've got to get Terry McLaurin back involved in this offense.
00:34:52I do want to see the Commanders start faster.
00:34:54They were really sluggish and slow to start the game last week in Philly.
00:34:58Got to create some turnovers.
00:35:00You're a center.
00:35:01Don't get beat over.
00:35:01Don't get beat over.
00:35:02You've got to write a chain.
00:35:03Relax.
00:35:04Stay home now.
00:35:06Don't fight, boys.
00:35:07I can't break up a physical fight.
00:35:08All right, our last grease board game, the Raiders at the Chargers.
00:35:12The Chargers have beaten the Raiders four straight times, Coach.
00:35:14You talk a lot about the way that that offense looked and what Justin Herbert had flying at him.
00:35:18How are they going to protect him this week?
00:35:20You say Raiders, Chargers?
00:35:21That just gets my blood going, man.
00:35:23You know, the thing that really bothers me is Herbert, all the hits he takes.
00:35:27I keep hearing this and that about the tackles.
00:35:29Slater's out.
00:35:30Alts out.
00:35:31They're all out.
00:35:32Well, this year Slater's back.
00:35:33Alts back.
00:35:35Let me show you.
00:35:35Be a running back, Casey.
00:35:36Come here, you guys be running backs.
00:35:38Let's just say we have five linemen and we got two backs.
00:35:41That's seven.
00:35:42That means we got seven protectors.
00:35:45Let's just say Jay, he goes out.
00:35:47He's free releasing now.
00:35:48How many backs?
00:35:48We got six.
00:35:49Are you guys with me now?
00:35:50Let's just say we put you out there in a no-back set.
00:35:53Now I got five blockers.
00:35:55This is what upsets me about the Chargers.
00:35:57We got a no-back set, and everybody knows we got five blockers.
00:36:01So Arizona covers the center, and typically we make a 5-0 call.
00:36:07We're one-on-one with five guys.
00:36:09Five guys are blocking with no help, hence a 5-0 call.
00:36:14But here's another linebacker for Arizona, and here is the great Buddha Baker.
00:36:19Seek and destroy!
00:36:22Well, when you make a 5-0 call early in the season, anybody else that blitzes, the quarterback has to
00:36:30throw the ball hot.
00:36:32You get rid of the ball, high plant leg, throw it, incomplete or complete, get on with the game.
00:36:37We don't like to do that, but that's what you have to do.
00:36:39But what does Justin Herbert do in the fourth quarter?
00:36:42He gets hit hard by two Arizona Cardinals like he had no idea how he was being protected in a
00:36:50five-man protection.
00:36:51And it really pisses me off because you think Andrew Luck got sacked a lot in Indianapolis in his first
00:37:0093 games?
00:37:01Yes.
00:37:01Herbert's been sacked 50 more times than Andrew Luck.
00:37:04You cannot win, and you cannot ever function at a high level if you don't understand pass protection.
00:37:11Sorry for yelling, but boy.
00:37:13I'm fired up.
00:37:13I want to run through a wall right now.
00:37:15That was not good last week.
00:37:17And I think the Raiders, who got a great win at home with Clint Kubiak, with Kirk Cousins, a veteran
00:37:23quarterback.
00:37:23We get Brock Bowers back, hopefully.
00:37:26Ashton Gentty over 100 yards.
00:37:28I like the Raiders to go to L.A. and do something they haven't done lately.
00:37:33Boom!
00:37:33Go 2-0.
00:37:342-0, Raider Nation.
00:37:36Are you going with him?
00:37:37I want to call Buddha Baker.
00:37:39Say, what's up, Buddha?
00:37:40You my man.
00:37:41I love Buddha Baker, man.
00:37:42Seek and destroy.
00:37:45You like Metallica?
00:37:46Of course you do.
00:37:47I know.
00:37:48So who are you taking, Jay?
00:37:49Who am I taking?
00:37:49Yeah.
00:37:50I'm taking the Chargers.
00:37:51I think the Chargers played pretty good early in the game.
00:37:54After all that.
00:37:54They just kind of fell asleep and had some miscues, a bad interception here and there, a fumble.
00:37:59Just didn't click for them in week one.
00:38:01I think it'll click for them week two.
00:38:02Harbaugh's a good coach.
00:38:03He'll get them going.
00:38:04All right.
00:38:05I have to say, I don't even want to go to straight up football quite yet, coach, because I feel
00:38:08like you just want to keep yelling about this team.
00:38:10Well, I didn't feel the Charger defense either.
00:38:12I was disappointed.
00:38:13I know they got a new defensive coordinator.
00:38:16Jesse Minner's in Baltimore.
00:38:17Chris O'Leary.
00:38:19Got to play better on defense.
00:38:20I mean, Arizona made Jacoby Brissett look good, or did Jacoby Brissett make them look pretty
00:38:28normal?
00:38:28I thought Arizona did a great job with two different runners involving a lot of different
00:38:33receivers.
00:38:35They're vulnerable, Raider Nation.
00:38:36Let's go, Raiders.
00:38:38That's a week two speech is what that is.
00:38:40I mean, that just gets you fired up.
00:38:41Let's go to straight up football.
00:38:43We're going to start with the Panthers at the Falcons.
00:38:45Jay, I'm going to start with you to give John a little bit of a breather after that incredible
00:38:49pump up speech.
00:38:49So the Panthers lose to the Bears last week.
00:38:51The Falcons lose to the Steelers.
00:38:53We know that Bryce Young always plays well versus Atlanta.
00:38:56What do you expect in this matchup?
00:38:58A lot of Bijan.
00:38:59I mean, Bijan had about 80% of the Falcons offense last week, and he's watching the film
00:39:04of the Panthers defense, and he's probably stretching right now, getting ready for this
00:39:08game.
00:39:09I expect Bijan to maybe get an NFL record over 200 yards, something like that.
00:39:13It's going to be a bloodbath.
00:39:15That's the only chance the Falcons have to win because they can't really do anything through
00:39:17the air right now.
00:39:18But the Panthers really, if you look at their offense, they play pretty damn good, right?
00:39:23Coker had a big day.
00:39:24I mean, they played pretty good.
00:39:25Just not good.
00:39:26You score 37 points, have 468 yards of offense.
00:39:29You're 44% on third down.
00:39:31You're like, we won by 30.
00:39:32No, they lost by 30, which is insanity.
00:39:35Their defense was so atrocious.
00:39:36And the yards they had on offense was a franchise record.
00:39:39How many times do you lose a game by 30 when you set a franchise record for the amount of
00:39:43yards you have?
00:39:4344% on third down.
00:39:44It's unbelievable.
00:39:45So there is some positive news coming out of Panther land.
00:39:48But you mentioned it.
00:39:49Defensively, they were atrocious.
00:39:50They got beat up.
00:39:51But is the Falcons' offensive line like the Chicago Bears?
00:39:54I don't think so.
00:39:55So I think the Panthers bounce back and get a big win.
00:39:57John, what do you think?
00:39:57I might go to this game and I want to get the crowd chanting, we want Jack Strand.
00:40:04We want Jack Strand.
00:40:06Jack Strand played great quarterback in the preseason.
00:40:09I don't know what they're doing.
00:40:10I don't know what Pennix's health is.
00:40:11I don't know if two is healthy.
00:40:13I don't know if two is ever healthy.
00:40:14But I do think until Atlanta figures out their quarterback situation, they're going to really
00:40:19struggle.
00:40:20I hate to say it, but I like Carolina to win this game.
00:40:23But their defense, I hope they get the message.
00:40:26You know, they went out and gave Jalen Phillips $120 million.
00:40:30You know, they gave Derek Brown $96 million.
00:40:33These guys are getting paid.
00:40:34Devin Lloyd came in from the Jacksonville Jaguars with a big payday, and they got abused.
00:40:40They really put some bad stuff on tape.
00:40:42They looked out of shape.
00:40:43They didn't run to the ball.
00:40:44They didn't fit their gaps.
00:40:46And they didn't tackle.
00:40:48And you're right.
00:40:49Bijan might have a career day, but they got to find some other playmakers and somebody
00:40:53that can throw the ball in Atlanta.
00:40:55Where's Zachariah Branch, man?
00:40:56I thought he had a great preseason.
00:40:57Nothing.
00:40:58No input.
00:40:59Nothing.
00:40:59I don't know.
00:40:59Drake London, not a whole lot.
00:41:01So they got to have somebody step up to help Bijan a little bit.
00:41:04And when you mentioned the quarterback situation, Kevin Stefanski, as of right now in recording
00:41:08this, hasn't publicly named a starter.
00:41:09That's usually a problem when you've got multiple guys on the roster, but they all seem to be
00:41:12hurt in some different type of way.
00:41:14Yeah.
00:41:14And it's maddening for a coach.
00:41:16And Matt Ryan's running this place.
00:41:17The greatest quarterback, arguably, in Falcon history.
00:41:20So they got to really be, you know, stressed out.
00:41:23What direction are we going?
00:41:24We really botched the Kirk Cousins situation.
00:41:28You know, they get Cousins and they draft Mike Pennix.
00:41:31They really screwed this place up with that selection, I think, unless Pennix comes through
00:41:35for them in a big way.
00:41:36What did they think was going to happen?
00:41:37They pick up Tua.
00:41:38He's had 10 concussions and they have the other quarterback had three blown out knees.
00:41:42I mean, did you think you're going to have a healthy quarterback by week one?
00:41:44You better have an alternative plan.
00:41:47And Cooper Rush was playing through back spasms.
00:41:49Like, it's a mess in that quarterback room right now.
00:41:52So we want Jack Strand.
00:41:54We want Jack Strand.
00:41:55I want to see Strand.
00:41:56The cadence isn't great on that, but you could work on it.
00:41:58You could get them going, right?
00:41:58Yeah.
00:41:59Let's go to the Eagles at the Titans.
00:42:01We've talked about the Eagles.
00:42:02They beat the Commanders.
00:42:02The Titans lose to the New York Jets.
00:42:05Now, the Eagles stat line coach, it's a little deceiving.
00:42:07They had 318 total yards, but 180 of those yards came from four explosive plays.
00:42:13Now, obviously, they get that win, but was there any concern with what Philadelphia was
00:42:17doing?
00:42:18I think so.
00:42:19You know, they had 10 first downs.
00:42:21And really, the 64-yard pass to Wicks, I've already said, Sainer still just misplayed the
00:42:26ball.
00:42:26A couple of these scrambles at Hurts had, I don't know what they're doing.
00:42:30On the touchdown to Goddard, Sonny Stiles gets caught up in a blitz look.
00:42:34They don't even cover the guy.
00:42:36But they had 10 first downs.
00:42:37They get four or five big plays, and that's it.
00:42:39But Vic Fangio and the Eagle defense, even though I'm not shot in the ass with their
00:42:44pass rush right now, they can play.
00:42:47They can hold this team, Tennessee, in check.
00:42:50Tennessee's longest game was 14 yards.
00:42:52I mean, they have a hard time moving the ball in pregame warm-up against Hurts.
00:42:56And I just think that everybody that goes to Tennessee that leaves plays better for another
00:43:01team than they do in Tennessee.
00:43:03And I'm taking the Eagles to win, cover, and become 2-0.
00:43:08All right, Jay?
00:43:10Way to go out on a limb there.
00:43:12Tennessee is not good.
00:43:13We know that.
00:43:14They're not good.
00:43:15The Philadelphia didn't impress me one bit, not even on defense.
00:43:18John mentioned it about the pass rush.
00:43:19Where's their Jalen Carter's a big guy, but they can double him, right?
00:43:22The outside guys, they got to get some pressure somehow, some way.
00:43:25I think even Cam Ward might be able to complete a pass beyond five yards against the Eagle defense,
00:43:29possibly.
00:43:30They do have a good secondary, very good.
00:43:32I think it's going to be a close game.
00:43:33I think if I were playing this game, I'd play way low-scoring game.
00:43:37It might be a 12-9 game.
00:43:39Maybe the kicker for the Titans runs out there at the fourth quarter and knocks down a 52-yard
00:43:44field goal for the victory.
00:43:45But I'm going to take the Titans.
00:43:46You know what bothers me is I've got two great receivers, young receivers.
00:43:50Both teams took a first-round pick.
00:43:52Carnell Tate of the Titans and Makai Lemon of the Eagles.
00:43:56Well, Makai Lemon catches three passes and he loses nine yards.
00:43:59I mean, all he gets are these damn bubble screens.
00:44:01I want to see these receivers, Tate and Makai Lemon, run some routes down the field.
00:44:07And I want to see these quarterbacks throw the ball down there to these guys.
00:44:11I'm just not happy with the Makai Lemon route tree in week one.
00:44:15He's young.
00:44:16He's got some time, right?
00:44:17He can run routes.
00:44:19Trust me.
00:44:19Yes, he can.
00:44:20Let's go to the Steelers at the Patriots.
00:44:22Jay, it feels like forever since we saw the Patriots play.
00:44:24But when they did, Drake May did not play well.
00:44:27He had three interceptions in that Super Bowl rematch to open the season.
00:44:30And when you look at what T.J. Watt is going to be able to do against him,
00:44:33that is a nightmare matchup for the Patriots.
00:44:35What do you expect to see in Foxborough?
00:44:37A lot of defense.
00:44:38Again, I think there's going to be a defensive battle.
00:44:40Highsmith had two sacks.
00:44:41Watt had two sacks.
00:44:42An interception for a touchdown.
00:44:43Cam Hayward had three or four batted balls.
00:44:45The Steeler defense, they're getting a little bit older, but they can still play.
00:44:49They hunt quarterbacks.
00:44:50That's what they do.
00:44:51Obviously, Drake May struggled.
00:44:53He had some horrible decisions in the red zone, which are very unlike him.
00:44:56He's very protective of the ball.
00:44:57Typically throws a pretty good deep ball, but was miserable.
00:45:00Against Seattle, it cost them a victory.
00:45:02So I expect very good defense, and I think Drake May needs to come
00:45:06and find somebody that can make a big play.
00:45:08A.J. Brown's out for four or five weeks, so I'm worried about them
00:45:11manufacturing big plays.
00:45:12Stevenson through the ground.
00:45:13But Pittsburgh notoriously has been really good against the run.
00:45:15So they're going to have to throw the ball through the air and find somebody.
00:45:18And I don't know who that's going to be.
00:45:19I love Pittsburgh in this game.
00:45:21That was a devastating opening week for the Patriots and the fans, Coach,
00:45:24because like you mentioned, A.J. Brown is out.
00:45:26Drake May did not look good.
00:45:27And then you look at what the Steelers bring back.
00:45:28They bring back Aaron Rodgers.
00:45:30He has 220 yards.
00:45:31And he's 41 years old, and he still looked pretty good.
00:45:34He did.
00:45:35You know, Metcalf had a couple drop passes, drop big balls.
00:45:39And then he has a couple push-offs, OPIs that hurt the Steelers.
00:45:43They didn't get the running game going.
00:45:44Atlanta's a tough opener because Jeff Olbrick does a lot on defense.
00:45:48But I like the Steelers in this game because I think they have what I call
00:45:53a fourth-quarter pass rusher.
00:45:55I got you another gift.
00:45:56Do I get another necklace?
00:45:56We used to talk about the green team, the money pass rushers.
00:46:00You got to have a defense that can close out the offense at the end of the game.
00:46:04The Seahawks have a green team.
00:46:07I mean, they went out and closed Drake May out.
00:46:09They sacked them three times, picked them off three times in the fourth quarter.
00:46:12The Pittsburgh Steelers are finally moving T.J. Watt around.
00:46:17Patrick Graham is moving them right to left, and so is Highsmith.
00:46:23I love that.
00:46:24And Cam Hayward is still a pain in the ass.
00:46:27He had three batted balls.
00:46:28They beat New England last year in New England.
00:46:31They forced about five fumbles.
00:46:33They recovered about four of them.
00:46:34I think Aaron Rodgers, I think he's going to get this offense going.
00:46:38He and Mike McCarthy, I think the Steelers are going like this,
00:46:41and I think the Patriots are going like this.
00:46:44I still don't trust the Patriot offensive line.
00:46:46No A.J. Brown, Omeo Dobbs.
00:46:49Who scares the Steeler defense?
00:46:52I do want to see Joey Porter come back and play corner.
00:46:55And he's demanding a trade.
00:46:57He's not there in camp.
00:46:59Come on back and help us out.
00:47:00We got a chance to do something good in Pittsburgh.
00:47:02Let's go to the Packers at the New York Jets.
00:47:05John Gruden, the New York Jets get a win in week one over the Titans.
00:47:09And the Packers lose to the Vikings.
00:47:11We've talked about that.
00:47:12And Green Bay's week one loss was bizarre because the offense actually,
00:47:14they moved the ball, but it was those 12 penalties, the turnovers.
00:47:18But they had something going.
00:47:19They just couldn't finish those drives.
00:47:22Yeah, the Green Bay Packers have lost six straight games.
00:47:24I mean, if you go back last year, they lost to the Bears back-to-back games.
00:47:27They lost the opening game.
00:47:29They had a 12-point lead.
00:47:31They blew that game.
00:47:32I mean, there's a fourth and one in the fourth quarter.
00:47:36Oh, no.
00:47:36And Coach LaFleur chooses to go for it.
00:47:39They got a backup right guard, Monk, number 62.
00:47:43The ball's in here, and it's a quarterback sneak.
00:47:46What do you call wedge?
00:47:46You call wedge.
00:47:48Wedge.
00:47:48Everybody steps to their inside gap.
00:47:50Which gap, everybody?
00:47:51Inside.
00:47:52Inside gap.
00:47:53Well, which gap does Monk step to?
00:47:56The outside gap.
00:47:57And they get stuffed on fourth and one.
00:47:59Matt LaFleur has to be like, you've got to be shitting me.
00:48:02And then one of the sacks, they've got a backup tight end there, Fitzpatrick.
00:48:06He doesn't block the right guy, and Dallas Turner almost kills Jordan Love.
00:48:10And then Chris Brooks, a backup running back, he blows the protection.
00:48:14And that's the point.
00:48:15They had lapses in their play.
00:48:18Kyle Van Ness jumps offside on a hard count.
00:48:20They get a bomb to Justin Jefferson.
00:48:23Green Bay gave this game away.
00:48:25And Green Bay's lost six in a row, and they deserve to lose.
00:48:27I'm going to go with the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets.
00:48:31Aaron Glenn has put together a team that really plays in his image.
00:48:37If you ever saw DeMario Davis, if you're ever around that guy, you're getting better.
00:48:41This guy's an alpha dog, and people are joining him.
00:48:44They have a great running back in Brees Hall.
00:48:47Frank Reich is running the offense.
00:48:49And Geno Smith, he's like, thank God, I got Frank Reich.
00:48:53I can relate to this guy.
00:48:55This is a team that's very dangerous at home.
00:48:58They could give Green Bay fits, and I know they will.
00:49:01They're going to win this game.
00:49:02The Jets found an identity, and I know it's only week one, but like you mentioned, 39 rushing attempts, 39
00:49:06minutes of possession, zero turnovers.
00:49:08They didn't do anything to lose that game.
00:49:10And for New York Jets fans, you have to be like, hell yeah.
00:49:13We're not making mistakes.
00:49:14Who'd they play?
00:49:16They play the Titans.
00:49:18Everybody settle down.
00:49:20The Packers are going to beat the living dog crap out of these guys.
00:49:23I'm telling you, Jordan Love had some outstanding reps, man.
00:49:26I'm telling you what, he had some throws that were sick, right?
00:49:29He did.
00:49:29I mean, he got sacked.
00:49:30He fumbled one time against a pretty good blitz.
00:49:33He's not going to see all that.
00:49:34And if he does, they'll be better prepared week two than they were week one.
00:49:37I promise you, Matt LaFleur is going to take this to heart and really talk about a pass protection plan
00:49:41this week.
00:49:42However, I think the Packers, with the receiving core they have, Tucker Craft is one of the best tight ends
00:49:47in football.
00:49:48The running game is so-so without Josh Jacobs, but this is going to be a bloodbath.
00:49:53Packers are going to beat the hell out of them.
00:49:54It's kind of fun to say the Jets might win a football game.
00:49:56They don't actually mean it, right?
00:49:57Totally not.
00:49:57The Jets are going to win this game.
00:49:58Tom loves that.
00:49:58Our producer loves it.
00:49:59Packers are going to have a seven-game losing streak, and you're going to be in here next week going,
00:50:03hmm.
00:50:04I do have to say, Packers fans were very angry online about the officiating.
00:50:09Do you think that you can give some credit to them for that or no?
00:50:12Well, to a degree, there were some questionable calls, but look, they jumped off sides three times on defense.
00:50:19There's no doubt about that.
00:50:20And Xavier McKinney's a great safety.
00:50:22He did tackle the guy on third and goal at the six-yard line.
00:50:25You get what you deserve.
00:50:26If you can't block a quarterback sneak and stay on sides, you should lose.
00:50:31Quarterback sneak what?
00:50:32It's a wedge block.
00:50:34It's a wedge block.
00:50:34He stepped out.
00:50:35He just belly flopped.
00:50:37You go inside, not outside.
00:50:38All right, Coach, I'm excited to get your thoughts on this one.
00:50:40I know we've talked about the Bucs, but we've got the Browns at the Bucs, the Baker Mayfield revenge game.
00:50:46You look at what the Browns are doing.
00:50:47I actually don't know what the hell they're doing.
00:50:49We've talked about how Todd Munkin already has confirmed that Deshaun Watson is still the starter.
00:50:53He got sacked five times last week against the Jags.
00:50:56But can your Bucs get back?
00:50:58Is it time to get right?
00:51:00Yeah, I think so.
00:51:01I mean, we gave that game away.
00:51:03We gave you that necklace.
00:51:05I mean, let me tell you, Bucky Irving catches a pass.
00:51:08He's got the ball in his left arm, and he cuts it back in here to the left right into
00:51:12the pursuit.
00:51:13Fumble.
00:51:13No.
00:51:14Duh.
00:51:14And then Baker Mayfield's running in for a touchdown.
00:51:16He switches the ball.
00:51:18Fumble.
00:51:18No shit.
00:51:19I mean, they did some really uncharacteristic things on offense with the football.
00:51:23But this offensive line in Tampa, trust me, Tristan Wirfs at left tackle, this whole line played zero snaps together
00:51:31last year.
00:51:32They're back intact.
00:51:33They're going to get better and better and better.
00:51:35The ball security will be addressed.
00:51:37Reuben Bain, this defense, this young crowd of defenders is going to get better and better.
00:51:42This is what we need.
00:51:44We need Cleveland to get off the bus, make sure they're on the plane on time and in Raymond James
00:51:48Stadium because Tampa's going to win this game.
00:51:50What do you think?
00:51:51I agree with John on this one, I have to, because I saw the Jaguars could have beat Cleveland 73
00:51:56to nothing.
00:51:56They called off the dogs with about 15 minutes, the whole fourth quarter.
00:52:00Cleveland really has nothing, no redeeming quality.
00:52:02They can't run the ball very well.
00:52:04Obviously, Deshaun Watson is struggling with the passing game, and defensively, they couldn't stop a cold.
00:52:09So I don't know how they're going to stop the Tampa Bay offense.
00:52:12Tampa Bay offense stopped themselves, like you mentioned.
00:52:14Cincinnati had a little bit to do with that with their physical play, but I don't see Tampa losing this
00:52:19game at home to Cleveland.
00:52:20There's no way.
00:52:21I mean, I know every coach thinks of this differently, but why is Deshaun Watson still the starter?
00:52:25He looked awful.
00:52:25You have Shador Sanders.
00:52:26You have other options.
00:52:27Is it because they're just trying to say, okay, we're going to give him one more week?
00:52:31Obviously, you don't see a lot in the backup quarterbacks.
00:52:34I hate to say it, but if you had a guy that's great, don't you think he'd be playing?
00:52:37Yeah.
00:52:38I mean, Maka's a hell of a coach.
00:52:39And I watched the opening possession.
00:52:41Cleveland took the ball right down the field against Jacksonville.
00:52:44There was a zone blitz, and he got fooled on the interception.
00:52:48Yeah.
00:52:48And that happens sometimes.
00:52:50But they have a young group of receivers.
00:52:52Boston, Concepcion, fanning it tight end.
00:52:55Judkins is a young running back.
00:52:57They got a lot of new guys on their offensive line.
00:53:00Fano's a rookie at left tackle.
00:53:02What would happen a week from now if Deshaun were to go on the road and get a win?
00:53:06You know, maybe that would remedy this whole situation.
00:53:09But obviously, Todd Ma can see something that he might not see in the rest of these quarterbacks.
00:53:14It's kind of discouraging if you're a Browns fan, which, I mean, I guess they're used to that.
00:53:17They're Browns fans.
00:53:18Weren't you disappointed in their defense?
00:53:20Yeah, I was very disappointed.
00:53:22I mean, I don't know what number five is doing on one of the plays, but he froze like a
00:53:25deer.
00:53:26And the guy's running a crossing route right behind him.
00:53:28He's still there.
00:53:29I don't know if he's frozen still.
00:53:31Number five.
00:53:32Let's go.
00:53:33Move your feet.
00:53:34Do something.
00:53:35Do something.
00:53:36I've never coached that technique before.
00:53:37Just stand like a deer.
00:53:40Just had dead silence.
00:53:41I don't know what the hell that was.
00:53:42Dead silence.
00:53:43Yeah, I mean, he just didn't look like he knew where he was.
00:53:44He blinded.
00:53:46I would show it to you, but I'd get fined like $3 million.
00:53:49We're not allowed to show the video, unfortunately.
00:53:51Yeah, can't do that.
00:53:51Dave Portnoy does not want to pay $3 million for that.
00:53:53I don't either.
00:53:54I don't blame him.
00:53:54So that's why you have to keep modeling it.
00:53:55You just have to model a deer in headlights.
00:53:57Do it again, coach.
00:53:59Quarterback sneak wedge.
00:54:01Shovel pass.
00:54:02Goal can beat over the top.
00:54:04All right, let's go to Saints at the Ravens.
00:54:06Jay, you look at the Saints game.
00:54:08They lose in overtime to the Lions, but Tyler Shuck, he clawed back after they were down 21-0.
00:54:13He had 410 passing yards, three touchdowns.
00:54:15We talked about this in week one.
00:54:16When you look at New Orleans and the excitement that they have with this kid, they're looking great.
00:54:20But then the Ravens looked so good offensively.
00:54:23What do you expect from this one?
00:54:24I think this whole thing about Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers, that three-headed monster.
00:54:29John says, you always want to take one guy away.
00:54:31Okay, let's take away Lamar.
00:54:32Here comes Derrick.
00:54:33Here comes Zay Flowers.
00:54:35Let's take away Zay Flowers.
00:54:36Here comes Derrick.
00:54:36Here goes Lamar.
00:54:37Here comes tight end.
00:54:38I mean, well, Zay might be hurt.
00:54:40He may be out this week.
00:54:42Am I right on that?
00:54:42Yes.
00:54:43And it's early in the week.
00:54:44He got the hamstring, right?
00:54:45Yep.
00:54:45They have not announced anything as of Wednesday.
00:54:47But I am impressed with Tyler Shuck from Louisville.
00:54:49I am very impressed with him.
00:54:50What they did in the fourth quarter, they were getting their asses beat.
00:54:53And they came back.
00:54:54They stuck with the plan.
00:54:55Kellen Moore kept a lot of faith going in on the offense.
00:54:58And they made some big plays.
00:54:59Shuck outside the pocket, within the pocket.
00:55:01It was really impressive.
00:55:02Went down to a two-point play.
00:55:04It was a good play call.
00:55:05Shuck just had to move his feet, which made him late on the corner route, which threw out
00:55:08of bounds.
00:55:08If he threw that on time, I think they win the damn game.
00:55:11So I was impressed with the Saints.
00:55:12But there's too much to like about the Ravens right now.
00:55:15And it seems like that's the case every year.
00:55:17Last year, we said the same thing.
00:55:18And they were 8-9.
00:55:19You know what I mean?
00:55:20So I still think that the Saints will give them a close game.
00:55:23But I think the Ravens will take it at home.
00:55:25John?
00:55:25You know, the Saints, they get down 21-0.
00:55:27And we said it last week.
00:55:29Last year, outscored 85-19 in the first quarter.
00:55:32They got to start faster.
00:55:33I'll say this.
00:55:34I was with Brett Favre his first three years.
00:55:37Shuck in the second half?
00:55:38I swear to God, I was watching Brett Favre back in 1993.
00:55:41I mean, he was running around making throws.
00:55:43Great throws.
00:55:44High praise.
00:55:45I'm not going to say it yet.
00:55:46But there is a lot to like with Shuck, man.
00:55:50What's impressive about Baltimore is their offensive line.
00:55:54I mean, they lose Tyler Lindenbaum to the Raiders.
00:55:57He's gone.
00:55:58$90 million center.
00:55:59They got a guy named Gwynn.
00:56:0127 years old.
00:56:02He comes over from Atlanta.
00:56:04John Simpson, my old guard, is playing left guard.
00:56:06And they got a rookie playing right guard from Penn State.
00:56:09This offensive line of the Ravens is better than it was in the last couple years.
00:56:14They're coming off the ball thumping people.
00:56:16And I'm really impressed with the offensive line coach, Dwayne Ledford, who came over to
00:56:22Baltimore.
00:56:22But there's just too much to like with the Ravens.
00:56:25I think Coach Minter is going to get this defense to play better and better and better.
00:56:30And they'll give Shuck some looks he hasn't seen before.
00:56:33Matt Abike might come back.
00:56:35A really good defensive tackle for the Ravens.
00:56:37And I thought Trey Hendrickson got off to a great start.
00:56:40Eight or nine pressures.
00:56:41He looked good.
00:56:42He looked like his old self.
00:56:43I like Baltimore.
00:56:44Let's go Jags at the Broncos.
00:56:47Now, we've talked about both of these teams.
00:56:48A tale of two different week ones.
00:56:50The Jags get killed.
00:56:51I mean, the Jags kill the Browns, but the Broncos coach, they got killed.
00:56:54Bo Nix looked awful.
00:56:55The Denver's offense was just gross in general.
00:56:58But do you think they can more meet in the middle this week?
00:57:00Is it not a blowout on either side for these teams?
00:57:03This is the money game for me to watch.
00:57:05I can't wait to see how Denver responds to all this adversity.
00:57:09I mean, they got cleaned last week.
00:57:1128 missed tackles.
00:57:13They couldn't move the ball.
00:57:14Davis Webb, the new play caller of the Broncos, he's got to have a little anxiety right now
00:57:19because Sean Payton's probably looking over his shoulder.
00:57:22You know, they only had 175 yards of offense.
00:57:24But I'm really impressed with the Jaguars.
00:57:27They had nine different receivers.
00:57:28Trevor Lawrence looked like Joe Montana last week.
00:57:30Parker Washington, who is this guy?
00:57:32I mean, this guy's making plays, one-handed catches.
00:57:36Tootin looks like he's going to be a good back.
00:57:38This left tackle, Anton Harrison, he's a shutout artist.
00:57:43And the Jaguars have a fourth-quarter pass rush with Walker and Josh Hines Allen.
00:57:49So, I'm going with the Jaguars.
00:57:51They did it last year, 34-20.
00:57:53I'm staying with the Jags.
00:57:54Jay?
00:57:55I love the Jags, man.
00:57:56They're one of my favorite teams to watch.
00:57:58Offensively, they're very good.
00:57:59This is a game about mentality early.
00:58:01You know, one team's coming off a win, and everybody's saying,
00:58:03the Jags are the best team.
00:58:04They're going to the Super Bowl.
00:58:05And the other team was a very total disappointment, zero, gonk show.
00:58:10And that is the mentality that Sean Payton has to instill in his team to get back on track.
00:58:17I'm sure he's killing these guys at practice and meeting rooms, showing film.
00:58:21I mean, he's all over these guys.
00:58:22And these players for the Broncos will be ready to play.
00:58:24It'll be a physical football game.
00:58:26I'm going to take Denver in a comeback game because I think Sean Payton will get them ready to go.
00:58:30And I think Liam Cohen, they're probably just a little loosey-goosey right now.
00:58:33But I do love the Jaguars.
00:58:34I think they're going to win the AFC South for sure.
00:58:37You just wanted me to do the gong because you were giving me a hard time because I struggle with
00:58:40it every time.
00:58:41Yeah, yeah.
00:58:41Gonk show.
00:58:42That was a gonk show by the Broncos.
00:58:43It was bad.
00:58:44But Sean Payton did call it a slap in the face last week.
00:58:46So, you're thinking that's just a bad week for them.
00:58:48Keep it moving.
00:58:49I think so.
00:58:50I love that.
00:58:50All right, let's go Seahawks at the Cardinals.
00:58:53We talked about Jacoby Brissett earlier in the show.
00:58:55He looked good.
00:58:56He looked better than Justin Herbert in that game.
00:58:58Jeremiah Love scores in the debut for the Cardinals.
00:59:01What do you expect from this game, Jay?
00:59:02I expect the Seahawks to continue rolling.
00:59:05They're a physical team.
00:59:05They can beat you on defense.
00:59:06They can beat you on offense.
00:59:08They're just so good at everything.
00:59:10They don't have a weakness.
00:59:11Special teams are unbelievable.
00:59:13I don't see the Seahawks letting down at all going to Arizona because I think it's good that Arizona beat
00:59:17the Chargers.
00:59:18You know, if Arizona were blown out by the Chargers, these guys would probably be yawning and watching film.
00:59:22But they're awake.
00:59:23They're watching Jeremiah Love.
00:59:24They're watching Jacoby Brissett play a damn good football game.
00:59:27They're watching the Blitzes, how they got to Justin Herbert.
00:59:29They're going to pay attention.
00:59:30They're going to be prepared.
00:59:31I just think, personnel-wise, they're better overall than the Arizona Cardinals.
00:59:35John?
00:59:35Yeah, I think Seattle wins this game.
00:59:37Remember, Drew Locke is playing quarterback.
00:59:39And I'm not being critical of Locke.
00:59:42He is not Sam Darnold.
00:59:43So, the playbook, they got a new offensive coordinator, Brian Fleury.
00:59:47I thought they were late coming out of the huddle.
00:59:49I thought there were some areas that weren't very sharp offensively.
00:59:53And I know it's a backup quarterback.
00:59:55But Nick Rollis has done a great job coordinating this Arizona defense.
01:00:00He has some unscouted looks.
01:00:02And Jacoby Brissett, he reminded me a lot of Rich Gannon.
01:00:06He's a veteran quarterback, great competitor.
01:00:09Sometimes the right situation with the right staff and the right guys can bring out the best in you.
01:00:15He reminded me of Gannon.
01:00:16A little bit of Jeff Garcia.
01:00:18Best of his career comes at the end of his career.
01:00:21The guy had leadership.
01:00:22He made some really good plays in the pocket.
01:00:25Nick Emanwari, though, is coming back for Seattle.
01:00:27He's going to make a few plays.
01:00:29It's going to be an ugly game.
01:00:30Last year, it was a 23-20 game in Arizona.
01:00:33It was a fist fight.
01:00:35It's going to be that way again.
01:00:36But, like you said, Seattle's just a little bit better right now.
01:00:38All right, to finish out the straight-up football games, we're going to go with the Dolphins at the 49ers.
01:00:43Now, the Dolphins allowed five sacks, 17 pressures against the Raiders.
01:00:46And we've talked about that hangover from Australia with the 49ers.
01:00:49What do you expect to see with this game?
01:00:51Remember Mr. T in the Rocky film?
01:00:53Yeah.
01:00:54What's your prediction?
01:00:55Pain.
01:00:56I see a lot of pain.
01:00:57I just don't see a Miami hand with this 49er team.
01:01:02It's great to see Bosa, Kittle, Fred Warner back.
01:01:05And Dre Greenlaw just looks better in a 49er outfit.
01:01:09See Adebo's back.
01:01:11Kalen Black looked great as a complimentary back to Christian McCaffrey.
01:01:15Mike Evans, my man.
01:01:17Did you see him go up and moss that guy?
01:01:2049ers.
01:01:20Gig him, by the way.
01:01:21That's an Aggie right there.
01:01:2349ers are going to be impressive in this one.
01:01:25Yeah, I think they can beat you a couple different ways, obviously.
01:01:28They've got McCaffrey in black.
01:01:29They can pound you down.
01:01:30They can just rip it.
01:01:31Then the bootlegs off of it.
01:01:32And Purdy, people don't give him enough credit for his legs.
01:01:34He's got a big scramble against the Rams, about a 20-yard scramble.
01:01:37He can scramble, keep plays alive.
01:01:39They got a plaster drill to Debo Samuel for a touchdown.
01:01:42So, him outside the pocket is dangerous.
01:01:44Just another weapon for the San Francisco 49ers.
01:01:47And Kyle will be ready for the Miami Dolphins coming to town, that's for sure.
01:01:50That feels bad for the Willis and the Dolphins.
01:01:52They don't really – they have a chance.
01:01:54It's the NFL.
01:01:54Anything can happen.
01:01:55But the 49ers are just way better.
01:01:57It's sad when you bring up the Dolphins and everybody just kind of, like, giggles to yourself.
01:02:00Like, oh, poor Miami.
01:02:01Just poor Miami.
01:02:02Speaking of the 49ers, it is time for the Gruden family vault presented by Reese's.
01:02:07I'm so excited about this.
01:02:08Presented by Reese's.
01:02:09There's something for everyone.
01:02:10Reese's is the best, by the way.
01:02:11Chocolate, peanut butter.
01:02:13It is just absolutely amazing.
01:02:14When we're on the road for college football, Brandon Walker shoving his face with Reese's.
01:02:18I know, he always says that.
01:02:19Reese's, the official candy partner of Barstool Sports.
01:02:22Go get a Reese's wherever you shop.
01:02:27All right, Coach, what do you got for us?
01:02:29I said the 49ers.
01:02:3049ers.
01:02:31Because I start thinking Joe Montana.
01:02:33Of course.
01:02:33You know, Jay and I go way back with Joe Montana.
01:02:35Joe played at Notre Dame.
01:02:37My dad was the running back coach at Notre Dame.
01:02:40And John McVay is the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers.
01:02:44My dad and John McVay worked together at Dayton.
01:02:48They were best friends.
01:02:49So John McVay calls my dad.
01:02:51He says, tell me about this Joe Montana.
01:02:54And my dad says, well, if you want completions, take Montana.
01:02:58If you want a jugs machine, take the guy you're thinking about taking.
01:03:0249ers took Joe Montana.
01:03:04But why did they take Joe Montana?
01:03:07Well, what happened at Notre Dame is legendary.
01:03:10The comebacks, the poise, the clutch playmaking, unbelievable.
01:03:15But the 1979 Cotton Bowl, remember this?
01:03:19I do remember this.
01:03:20In Dallas, Texas.
01:03:21We're playing Houston.
01:03:22It's the worst weather.
01:03:23You're from Texas.
01:03:24I am.
01:03:25It is 20 below wind chill, 25, 30 mile an hour winds.
01:03:30It is freaking cold and windy.
01:03:31And Joe Montana is our quarterback.
01:03:34And we get Joe sick.
01:03:36He has like hypothermia or something.
01:03:38His body temperature was way down.
01:03:40We're behind.
01:03:41And Joe is in the locker room.
01:03:43Matter of fact, Houston is kicking our ass.
01:03:44They are kicking our ass.
01:03:46He's eating chicken soup.
01:03:48He's eating chicken soup in the locker room trying to get his body temperature up.
01:03:51So Joe Montana comes out like this in a golf cart.
01:03:55He's just dying.
01:03:55It's freezing.
01:03:56He throws another interception.
01:03:58That's his fourth interception.
01:03:59We're down 34 to 12.
01:04:02So I left.
01:04:03Me and my friend Scott Johnson, we left.
01:04:05We got on the bus.
01:04:06Seven minutes left in the game, Casey.
01:04:08We left.
01:04:10Guess who didn't leave?
01:04:11You.
01:04:12But Notre Dame.
01:04:13Notre Dame, okay?
01:04:15The luck of the Irish starts with Joe Montana.
01:04:18Man, so I go to the 49ers as quality control coach.
01:04:21I stole Joe Montana's playbook.
01:04:23You see that right there?
01:04:24But this is the Cotton Bowl Media Guide from 1979.
01:04:28You see that?
01:04:29The fact that we just got out of the vault.
01:04:32We got the Cotton Bowl 1979 playbook.
01:04:34We have Joe Montana's playbook right here and a Notre Dame helmet.
01:04:37So listen, it's 34 to 12 Houston.
01:04:39And I'm on the bus pissed off because we lost.
01:04:43And all of a sudden, a frostbitten lady gets on the bus.
01:04:45There was nobody left at the game.
01:04:46Everybody was gone.
01:04:48She had her pennant.
01:04:48She gets on the bus and she goes, this is the greatest game I've ever seen.
01:04:52We won.
01:04:53Why'd they let her on the bus?
01:04:54What John didn't tell you, during the week, he had me go steal a bunch of toilet paper from
01:04:58the maids, right?
01:05:00So we got a bag full of toilet paper.
01:05:02We didn't get to throw any toilet paper.
01:05:04John is on the bus.
01:05:05They are winning the game.
01:05:06The lady says Notre Dame won the game.
01:05:08So we go sprinting down to the locker room to see my dad.
01:05:11He always lets us come in the locker room.
01:05:13And Jay's already in there with him.
01:05:15And my dad sees me.
01:05:16He goes, can you believe it?
01:05:17Was that the greatest thing Joe Montana ever did?
01:05:21What'd you say?
01:05:22He wasn't even there.
01:05:23He was on the bus.
01:05:24I missed the whole game.
01:05:25He literally threw you under the bus.
01:05:26And the sad thing was, I'm playing pinball with Steve Cicci and Tony Belden, the backup
01:05:32freshman.
01:05:33And guess who started the party?
01:05:35Steve Cicci blocks the punt.
01:05:37Tony Belden runs it back.
01:05:38But Joe Montana, man.
01:05:41You know why the guy's the greatest ever?
01:05:43He got no fear.
01:05:45He feels no pressure.
01:05:46He applies the pressure.
01:05:47He never quits.
01:05:48He's a relentless badass.
01:05:49It's such a brother move.
01:05:51He wasn't even there.
01:05:52He didn't even see it.
01:05:53Look at this on the bus.
01:05:54That is crazy.
01:05:55This is long before I was born.
01:05:57It's because you're probably wearing a tank top for the TV.
01:05:58Oh.
01:05:59Were you wearing a tank?
01:06:00You got the guns out, Coach?
01:06:01Shut up, Jay.
01:06:03And again, brothers.
01:06:04You got to love it.
01:06:05Hey, Houston.
01:06:06We have a problem.
01:06:07All right, it's time for the Shredline.
01:06:09And I have to say week one was great because you guys were giving relationship advice.
01:06:12People loved that.
01:06:13So I'm sure there are a lot of very angry fans calling into the Shredline.
01:06:17But before we get to the voicemails, anything you guys want to shred?
01:06:20Get off your chest?
01:06:23Nothing?
01:06:23I think that, you know, I just like watching football.
01:06:25I just feel for some of these coaches right now that are 0-1 and really had no redeeming
01:06:30quality to show for them.
01:06:31Their defense was bad.
01:06:32Their special teams was terrible.
01:06:33And their offense stunk.
01:06:34You know, that's, you're just looking for some kind of, we can bet.
01:06:38What does Tennessee build on?
01:06:39What does Cleveland build on?
01:06:41You know what I mean?
01:06:42So I just.
01:06:42That's a shred.
01:06:43That's like a cry or a whine.
01:06:45That is a whine.
01:06:46I just feel bad.
01:06:47I remember it.
01:06:47I went through it, John.
01:06:48You might not have gone through it.
01:06:49I went through it.
01:06:50All right?
01:06:50Empathy.
01:06:51Yeah.
01:06:51Here's a shred.
01:06:52Some of these college teams that got these $40 million payroll rosters playing teams with
01:06:58no payroll.
01:06:59I mean, what the hell, man?
01:07:01Indiana's playing Howard.
01:07:02That's not fair to Howard.
01:07:04I mean, Malisek's playing Norfolk State.
01:07:07That ain't right, man.
01:07:08You guys got all these super conferences, all these jewelry necklaces.
01:07:12Play the good.
01:07:13I mean, it's just bullshit, some of these schedules that I'm watching.
01:07:16So basically, we just, you have empathy for the coaches.
01:07:18You feel bad.
01:07:19And you just are pissed at college football.
01:07:21I love that.
01:07:21Yeah, it's a good range of emotions here.
01:07:24Speaking of range of emotions, I'm assuming that Browns fans are always down tremendous.
01:07:28Let's see what this caller has to say about how much he dreads football.
01:07:33Hey, this is Calvin Miller from Southern California.
01:07:39And I'm a Cleveland Browns fan.
01:07:41And I just got to say, dude, I truly dread football season.
01:07:45I swear.
01:07:46It's like you, it's like allowing this chick that you just waited and waited and waited
01:07:52to finally get out on a date.
01:07:54And now, you know, the fall comes around.
01:07:57And now you've got her officially out on a date.
01:07:59And all she wants to do is flick your nutsack 10,000 times.
01:08:04Hey, cut him off.
01:08:05I get the picture here.
01:08:07Here's what I recommend you do.
01:08:08Go out of your yard and just stand like this.
01:08:11Just stand like this until we resolve the quarterback situation.
01:08:15It's just been the same song and dance for so long.
01:08:19It's almost been impossible that you can have no quarterback that you believe in for
01:08:26this long of time.
01:08:27I've had friends in Cleveland for a long time, season ticket holders in the legendary dog
01:08:31pound, got rid of their tickets.
01:08:32That's how bad it is.
01:08:33You don't get rid of dog pound tickets in Cleveland.
01:08:36They did.
01:08:36Yeah, no, it's just a devastating fan base, but also just the visual that this guy just
01:08:41gave us.
01:08:42And like you said, some people pay extra.
01:08:43Yeah, that's an extra.
01:08:44Hey, don't complain.
01:08:45Somebody else might like the girl that you take a date on to do that.
01:08:48Speaking of depressed fans, let's just keep it rolling.
01:08:50Here's another one.
01:08:53Yeah, what's up, coach?
01:08:55I'm from Tennessee.
01:08:56I'm a Titans fan.
01:08:57What the hell did I just watch today?
01:09:00I mean, that was terrible.
01:09:01And it's just, it's going to be the third year in a row.
01:09:03I thought for sure we get the four wins.
01:09:05No, we're just not.
01:09:07I mean, I know you're a coach and you like coaches, but some coaches are fucking stupid.
01:09:11I mean, this Brian Dable guy, I was told, built Josh Allen.
01:09:16I don't think he did it at all.
01:09:17I mean, I'm watching Cam Ward look like a moron.
01:09:20Josh Allen's putting balls on the table against the best defense in the NFL.
01:09:24I don't think he really needs them at all.
01:09:26And then Sala, what the hell does he do besides sit there and look upset?
01:09:30I mean, the 49ers even look pretty good without him.
01:09:33I don't know what the hell he coached up.
01:09:34Same thing with Brian Callahan.
01:09:36We had him a year ago.
01:09:37They said he coached up Joe Burrow.
01:09:38I think Joe Burrow helped out Brian Callahan.
01:09:42These guys are all terrible.
01:09:43Why is my organization terrible?
01:09:46The Titans suck every year.
01:09:47We can get new logos.
01:09:49We can get new jerseys.
01:09:50We're still going to suck.
01:09:52Okay.
01:09:54The jerseys did look good.
01:09:55They did look good.
01:09:56All you can hope for is some improvement.
01:09:58I mean, you got to hope that this new coaching staff, the new offensive coordinator, the new system,
01:10:04you just hope they can start seeing some progress.
01:10:07Because that opening kickoff last week went out of bounds.
01:10:11It all started with the opening kickoff.
01:10:14But I feel your pain.
01:10:16Cleveland and Tennessee fans, I feel your pain.
01:10:18I just hope things get better.
01:10:21See, he showed some empathy right there.
01:10:22You see that?
01:10:23Yeah, he's soft.
01:10:24Yeah.
01:10:25Keep down the side, he was softy.
01:10:26He wanted to throw a little bit of shade at you.
01:10:28But that was some softy coming out, Coach.
01:10:30Yeah.
01:10:31There's not much to shred.
01:10:32You just feel bad for him.
01:10:33I don't like to kick a team that's down.
01:10:35You know, they're a team, obviously.
01:10:36They should play each other, Cleveland and Tennessee.
01:10:39That way, somebody will win.
01:10:40Just every week.
01:10:41Who would you take?
01:10:41Who would you take?
01:10:42I don't know.
01:10:42I'd take a...
01:10:43And the winner plays the Dolphins.
01:10:44I'd take a private jet to go watch that.
01:10:46Because I just want to see somebody...
01:10:47The winner plays the Dolphins, and the winner that plays the Falcons.
01:10:50Yeah, they just all play each other.
01:10:51Instead of getting kicked out of the league, they just play each other.
01:10:54All right.
01:10:55This is a Lions fan who's called in.
01:10:57Let's hear from him.
01:10:59Hey, Coach.
01:11:00This is Joey from New Orleans.
01:11:02I just want to ask you real quick.
01:11:04What the hell is a fumble?
01:11:06I mean, does this mean that Tom Brady intended to tuck the ball down?
01:11:10What the hell is a fumble anymore?
01:11:12We lose this game to the Lions because of the refs.
01:11:16And you said best, Coach.
01:11:17You might as well be an asshole to the refs because they're not going to help you if you're nice
01:11:20anyway.
01:11:20I love this call.
01:11:21I love this guy.
01:11:23It's not a tuck rule.
01:11:25They spelled it wrong.
01:11:26It had a different consonant in front of that uck part of it.
01:11:30Here it is.
01:11:31This Mark Butterworth, VP of Instant Replay.
01:11:34Rule 3, Section 21, Article 3, Item 1, Contact by Team B Player.
01:11:40That's bullshit.
01:11:41That was a fumble.
01:11:43It's always been a fumble.
01:11:45Instant Replay is only to correct an obvious error.
01:11:50That was a fumble.
01:11:51The freaking ball went backwards.
01:11:55That cost the Saints the game.
01:11:57Cost me my Raider career for crying out loud.
01:12:00Give me a break, man.
01:12:02Rule 3, Section 21, Article 3.
01:12:04Man, I would vomit if I was on the plane, if I was a Saints coach.
01:12:08That's total bullshit.
01:12:09I still can't get over it.
01:12:11God!
01:12:12You're angrier than the Saints fan that called me here.
01:12:14I thought it was a Lions fan.
01:12:15I can't believe it.
01:12:16I think Dan Campbell and the Lions staff thought it was a fumble.
01:12:18If I throw a bubble screen behind a line of scrimmage, what is that?
01:12:20That's a fumble?
01:12:21Yes.
01:12:21What if I said I meant to throw it forward?
01:12:23Well, Jay, don't you understand what I said?
01:12:25But I meant to throw it forward.
01:12:26Rule 3, Section 21, Article 3, Item 1.
01:12:29You know, that's the same crap I got on the tuck rule.
01:12:32I got this technical review of why it was what it was.
01:12:37What if I get hit open hand and the ball comes out?
01:12:39I don't know.
01:12:40That's a fumble.
01:12:40You got to call Mark Butterworth at the...
01:12:42Mark Butterworth.
01:12:42You have to ask about intention, though, right?
01:12:44If you intended to throw it forward...
01:12:46He needs to make more syrup.
01:12:48Okay, so I think we're just going to keep the heat rolling because this shred line I'm
01:12:51very interested to hear.
01:12:52Go ahead and roll it, Jay.
01:12:52So this morning, we're going to take the time to go ahead and shred John and Jay Gruden
01:12:57for betting against the New York football Giants on Sunday Night Football, picking the Dallas
01:13:01Cowboys to beat them.
01:13:02Let me tell you one thing about this team.
01:13:04Every time you play the football Giants, they're going to line up, put their hands in the dirt,
01:13:11look you in the fucking face, and get into a fight with you for 60 minutes of football.
01:13:17And that is something that has been missing from the sport and that has been missing from
01:13:22this team.
01:13:22And it feels so fucking good to see an old school smash mouth football team get after
01:13:29it again.
01:13:30I don't know how many points they're going to score this year.
01:13:32I don't know how many fucking wins they're going to have this year.
01:13:35But I'll tell you one thing about this team that feels different and electrifying is that
01:13:41they give a fuck.
01:13:42They care.
01:13:43Okay, okay, okay.
01:13:46I apologize for picking against you.
01:13:48You were right last week.
01:13:50But it ain't where you line up.
01:13:51It's where you wind up.
01:13:53And I coached against the Giants when they were the Giants.
01:13:56Lawrence Taylor, Carson, Jim Burt.
01:13:59I remember reasons.
01:14:00And Henry, whatever the hell his name was.
01:14:03I remember.
01:14:04Bill Sims.
01:14:05McConkie.
01:14:06Bart Oates.
01:14:07They brought it every week.
01:14:09They didn't just do it in the opening week.
01:14:10They did it every freaking week.
01:14:12So if you want to be all that Mr. Giant caller, go to the Rams and kick their ass and
01:14:18call me
01:14:18next week.
01:14:19That's what I want to see.
01:14:20That's what I would love to see.
01:14:22It's week one, buddy.
01:14:23Chill out.
01:14:24I mean, Jesus Christ.
01:14:25You beat the Cowboys, who had one of the worst defenses in NFL history last year.
01:14:29So what?
01:14:30You ran a couple power plays for a game of five.
01:14:32I mean, settle down.
01:14:33You're going to be in third and eight.
01:14:34Let's see how you protect Jackson Dart.
01:14:36I was impressed with the Giants.
01:14:37But goddamn, settle down, dude.
01:14:39I don't even think he necessarily believed that.
01:14:41His voice, when he wanted to shred the two of you, it was like he was too confident
01:14:44because he didn't actually believe what he was saying.
01:14:46He said it was missing from the sport.
01:14:48That's crazy.
01:14:49That is a crazy thing to say.
01:14:51He might have seen Patrick Ricard and her new right guard coming off the ball, though.
01:14:55Might have seen a few of those.
01:14:56He probably feels pretty good about it.
01:14:57Make sure you call in the shred line every single week.
01:14:59I love these.
01:15:00And gets Coach fired up.
01:15:01Gets Jay fired up.
01:15:02Anything else, guys, for week two?
01:15:05No, I just, I get excited.
01:15:07You know, you don't stay the same in this business.
01:15:09You either get better or worse.
01:15:11Everybody's up in the arms about who's great, who's bad.
01:15:13But let's see what happens now, week two.
01:15:16Everybody's had a chance to put the pads on, get a full game of action in.
01:15:19And let's see who adjusts and who makes the plays this week.
01:15:23All right.
01:15:23We'll see you guys next week.
