00:00Christian Castro is accused of lying to the FBI about being attacked before he shot an
00:04immigrant man in the leg in January, part of Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis.
00:08Prosecutors indicted Castro this month on six federal counts of making false statements.
00:13His attorney declined to comment after today's hearing.
00:16Castro faces second-degree assault charges and charges for falsely reporting a crime.
00:21His bail was set at $200,000 with conditions requiring him to surrender his passport,
00:26wear an electronic monitor and sign an extradition waiver after he did not voluntarily turn himself into the Minnesota BCA
00:34as directed after he was set free from a Texas jail after the governor there refused to extradite him last
00:40month.
00:41And a big county attorney, Mary Moriarty, explains.
00:44When he walked out the door in Texas because of Abbott's delays, our warrant was still active.
00:49And we were encouraging him through his counsel to come up here and turn himself in.
00:54He didn't do that.
00:55His next scheduled date in state court is on November 3rd.
