00:00Hello everyone, my name is William Chambers and it is good to be here with you all with the Word
00:05of
00:06God, looking into the Word of God. Let us go ahead and dive into the text. If I had a
00:13title
00:13for today's message, I would call it, When They Walk Away, God Steps In.
00:24That right there, some good stuff right there. When they walk away, God steps in.
00:28Some wounds that we go through, some of the wounds that we have, don't come from enemies.
00:36They come from people who are supposed to stay with us and leave us. And when those people walk
00:44away, it doesn't just break our hearts, but it makes us question our own worth.
00:53When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
01:02So, David is speaking about the pain of human rejection, but he goes into an ultimate level
01:11of abandonment. He says, when my father and my mother forsake me, when they leave me.
01:18Now, our father gives us identity, protection, direction, and authority. Our mother gives us
01:26nurture, belonging, comfort, and care. These are primary sources of identity. When they forsake
01:35us, what are we to do? What do you do when people that were supposed to love you the most
01:41fail you the deepest? This kind of rejection attacks our self-worth. Help today, God. Many
01:52might not experience this level of rejection, but many people experience emotional distance.
01:58Many people experience lack of affirmation. Many people experience broken relationships.
02:04Many people experience neglect. They expected love to be somewhere, and it did not show up. It was
02:13missing. Oh, this is a heartache. This is a heartache that lingers over decades sometimes. Help us.
02:21When people are rejected at the deepest levels, they often draw a false conclusion.
02:29They say, they left me. Therefore, I am not valuable. Help us not say that today. There's a false
02:40conclusion. Just because someone left you does not mean you're not valuable. And we're going to see
02:46that as this text unfolds. When my father and mother forsakes me, then the Lord steps in. Then is a
02:55divine
02:55turning point. Even the deepest rejection. It doesn't counsel our work to God. That's when God starts to
03:05actively pursue us. God is seeking to restore us. That's when God draws near. God doesn't stay distant.
03:17He takes initiative. Then I draw near. Thank you, Lord, for drawing near when people reject me.
03:25The very place of their rejection becomes the place of God's entrance. When they forsake you. God says, I was
03:34right there. I was going to enter into your life. Hello. Oh, I'm dancing because I know a little bit
03:42about
03:42this right here. God came in and met needs because other people left me and weren't going to meet those
03:50needs.
03:50I got to get off that point. Let's move on. People may say, by their actions, you are not worth
04:00staying.
04:01That's what people's actions say. You're not worth staying. That's why I left. But God interrupts that
04:09message. God said, no, no, no, no, no. I'm going to step in and interrupt the message that was left
04:14by them
04:14leaving you. How does God interrupt the message? Well, God restores our worth and our position.
04:24The Bible says, then the Lord will take me up. People may leave you low, broken, hurting,
04:36all by yourself. I know a little bit about this, but God will raise you higher in understanding,
04:46higher in who you and knowing who you are. God will raise you up.
04:55When others push you away, God pulls you in. Come on in here. They push you away. You guys love
05:03God.
05:04When others push you away, God pulls you in. He draws close. When others push you away,
05:11he brings you near. When others push you away, he receives you as one of his own. When others push
05:19you away, he will raise you up. He will elevate you because people leaving you makes you feel low.
05:27He will elevate you from a low place. He will restore your dignity and change your position.
05:37You got to be thankful for the love of God. God does not allow you to remain in low self
05:42-worth.
05:43He doesn't want that. Ah, he, I'm not going to allow you just to feel like you're beneath everybody else.
05:49No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not going to allow you to stay feeling discarded by
05:54other people.
05:55No, I'm going to step in. Your worth is not determined by who left you. Your worth is determined by
06:01who receives you.
06:06They left me, but God stepped in and lifted me up. They forsook me, but God took me up.
06:16Ah, that right there speaks to our soul. That right there speaks to who we are.
06:21When people walk away, it is comforting to know that God is right there and stepping in.
06:29I'm coming in right where they left you, but I'm not going to leave you where they left you.
06:34I'm going to lift you up. Help us, oh God, to know this.
06:38In Jesus' name we pray and say, amen.
06:59Am I.
07:01Am I.
07:02Am I.
07:06Am I.
07:09Am I.
07:10Am I.
