00:01Well, this tragedy occurred just before 10 last night when two cars, a Toyota Corolla
00:07and a Porsche SUV collided at this intersection behind me on Boardwalk Boulevard and Innisfail
00:13Drive in Point Cook in Melbourne's southwest.
00:16Now, emergency crews rushed to the scene, but sadly, both women in the Toyota, a 33-year-old
00:23driver and her 67-year-old passenger could not be saved.
00:28They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
00:30Now, the driver of the Porsche, a 54-year-old man, he was also treated by paramedics before
00:35he was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his lower
00:40body, and he remains there today in a stable condition.
00:43Now, to make things even more tragic here, all three people involved in this crash live
00:49here in Point Cook, so it would have been just moments from their homes when this tragedy
00:54occurred.
00:55Now, major collision investigators spent the night here really combing the scene, looking
01:00through those cars, trying to piece together just what caused this to go so horribly wrong.
01:07They say the man in hospital is assisting them with their investigations and all their inquiries,
01:12but on top of that, they are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash itself or who
01:17may have CCTV or dash cam footage or may have seen either of these two cars in the moments
01:23leading up to that collision to get in touch with them as soon as possible so they can
01:27get to the bottom of what has caused this crash to occur and potentially bring some form of closure
01:34to those families who today are grieving two women who should have made it home.
