00:06in Melbourne's outer west this morning in Hoppers Crossing.
00:09What we know is that a teenager has died.
00:11Two others are under police guard in hospital, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
00:16And another 16-year-old girl was in hospital.
00:18She's since been discharged and police are preparing to interview her this morning.
00:23Officers say the group of four were travelling in an allegedly stolen car that hit another
00:27here on the busy thoroughfare behind me just after midnight.
00:31Now, the occupants of that car sustained minor injuries and the teenagers then went on to
00:36collide with another two vehicles here as well.
00:39Now, officers are still trying to piece together what led to the teenagers to veer away from
00:44that first car during that attempted carjacking and hit the other two vehicles.
00:48We know that the occupants inside all of those other vehicles sustained minor injuries.
00:53Officers are preparing to address the media shortly.
00:55We've seen yellow evidence markers across the scene this morning.
00:59But, of course, Kath, it is a very tragic scene with one teenager dead.
