00:32Good afternoon and welcome to Countdown Studio. It's semi-final day. One place left in the final. I wonder which
00:40of our two contestants today will be heading off in that direction, off to the final. And talking about directions,
00:46I heard the most extraordinary story about some American tourists who came to this country, hired a car and they
00:51decided to go off to Wales. They thought they'd go and visit Caldy Island on the Pembrokeshire coast and so
00:56off they went.
00:56But the sat-nav that they were slavishly following took them down the slipway, onto the beach, sort of almost
01:06into the water where they got stuck.

01:27And I got to Val d'Isere at about three in the morning. And when it came time to go
01:32back to the airport, I said to somebody, it's the fastest way to the airport. And they said, it's very
01:37simple. You take a left and a right and a straight on. I said, how long does that normally take?
01:41They said about an hour and a half. Terribly wrong.

01:44I think about eight hours. I promise you. I was exhausted.

02:10and there was some way I could have just avoided the hill entirely.
