00:14Africa's most industrialized nation is plagued by deep-rooted crime and corruption fueled by organized networks.
00:22Commissioner, on the 6th of July, when I made this address before the South Africans,
00:29it was because I wanted to inform the public about the level of challenges that we're experiencing as a South
00:40African police service
00:41in relation to the work we do as the police, which involve criminality and the political interference on the work
00:50that we do as the police,
00:53which will also include corruption within the value chain of the justice system, which we are part of as law

01:02In July, Provincial Police Chief Landa Nkanazi accused Police Minister Senzon Chumu
01:09and other senior officials of obstructing investigations into the cases, including politically motivated murders.

01:25continuous threat
01:26as well as sabotage, which has been with us over an extended period to a point where we believe it
01:35is at real risk of a total collapse
01:38if nothing is done.
01:40Therefore, an urgent and effective interventions are required in order to avert this outcome.
01:47The allegations led President Cyril Mapposa to suspend Mchumu
01:50and announced the three-member commission cheered by a former constitutional court judge.
