00:00Summer made one of the most selfless decisions to give this senior emaciated dog a chance at
00:05the life she deserved. I saw Dawn for the first time posted in a Facebook group. She was found
00:11in a ditch. She was laying on somebody's patio but she needed a temporary foster and so that's
00:16when I took her in. They said she is not a fan of getting up so they told me we
00:22gotta kind of ease
00:23into it. You could just tell she was tired and her body was healing. Summer completely dedicated
00:39herself to caring for this senior dog during one of the most vulnerable times in her life.
00:50She ended up getting diagnosed with cancer, nasal carcinoma. It's hard emotionally to step up
00:55knowing that you're gonna have to say goodbye at some point and so I was happy to be able to
01:00be
01:00there and give her some love and time and in what time we had. Summer decided to prioritize giving
01:13her a peaceful, non-traumatic, end-of-life experience but that didn't come without giving
01:18Dawn one of the best gifts yet. I felt like the final act of love for Dawn was adopting her.

01:24if she didn't know it, I knew that she was worth it and she got to go and have an
01:29official home
01:30and a family and I felt like that just it means a lot. I think a lot of us are
01:35hesitant to foster,
01:37adopt, or help hospice dogs because we're worried about how it will affect us. But fostering and
01:43really the world of rescue in general is not about us. Summer couldn't change everything Dawn had been
01:48through or how much time she had left but she could make sure that while Dawn was here she was
01:53cared for,
01:54comfortable, and deeply loved.
