At this point, he’s basically their part-time dog! Duncan technically belongs to the neighbors, but for the past three years, he’s been showing up at the Fritts’ house to stare through the windows, play with the kids and make himself completely at home. Dodo editor Brielle shares how their honorary family member even convinced them it was time to get a dog of their own.

00:00I've seen a lot of nosy neighbor dogs, but Duncan takes it to a whole new level.
00:05We noticed that our fence had a few boards that were loose from the neighbor's yard.
00:11And a little dog was peeking through and he wanted to play.
00:15What are you doing?
00:19Every time he saw them, he could barely contain his excitement.
00:22Eventually, he busted right through the fence just to bark at the front door for playtime.
00:27Duncan was a very loved dog, but with a busy single guy, no kids, and he wanted to be a
00:36part of our family too.
00:37Pretty soon, he was coming over every single day for playtime, storytime, even yoga, which he was surprisingly good at.
00:49They adored him and he loved them right back. Then one morning, everything changed.
00:57The holes in the fence had been patched and Duncan stopped showing up.
01:01It was a rough week for everyone.
01:04A few days later, there was a knock on the door. It was Duncan's granddad, who explained he was
01:10preparing the fence before Duncan left for a summer family vacation.
01:13The news was bittersweet, but the family was just relieved to know that Duncan was okay.
01:18The kids made a card. We got him some treats. It was the cutest thing ever. And then Duncan was
01:24gone.
01:27A few months later, they walked outside to the best surprise ever. Duncan was back.
01:37It didn't take long for everyone to pick up right where they left off. But this time, there was a
01:42twist.
01:42I think the kids started to become sad that we didn't have Duncan around. They'd gotten really
01:47attached to him. It was just kind of determined that maybe it was time for us to start considering
01:54getting our own dog.
01:58The two became instant best friends. Now they take turns spying through the fence,
02:03playing together and hanging out with the fence. Duncan has since moved away with his granddad,
02:09but there are talks of a reunion. But in the meantime, the Fritz family has Cece.
02:14Because they've had so much experience with Duncan, it just gave them such a great foundation.
02:19They love her so much. And she has absolutely completed our family.
