09:36from this division and after San Francisco won the toss and decided to defer we're gonna see Brock Purdy wait
09:43for his opportunity and this Rams offense coming off a historically great season by their nature some of the best
09:50numbers they've had since they were the greatest show on turf in the early 2000s with Matthew Stafford as the
09:56winning MVP.
09:57Pretty awesome to see what it looks like you got the NFL logo with the cards up being held up
10:03here by the fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground again over 100,000 in the building.
10:06You talk to people around it almost has a Super Bowl type of vibe with the energy that's provided coming
10:11into this kickoff.
10:1357 degrees, perfect, clear, little win, mostly sunny, only gonna get a little bit warmer.
10:20It's, you know, early springtime here in Australia so that low 60s is a beautiful day with the sunshine peaking
10:26still only about 10.30 local time here in the morning.
10:30Eddie Pinero is gonna send it away to get the second game of the NFL season underway.
10:36Jordan Whittington and Xavier Smith back deep to receive for the Rams.
10:43And it will be Whittington will take it from the goal line.
10:47Trying to set up his blocking to the outside and he gets spilled out inside the 20.

10:55Now this Rams offense will have a long way to go led by that man in year number 18,
10:59Matthew Stafford coming off the MVP season.
11:0112-5 record but over 4,700 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.
11:07He's operating right now at a ridiculous level.
11:09Yeah, and he's seeing the field great.
11:10His ability to process and get to where he needs to.
11:13They like running this play action, getting the ball downfield,
11:16but he's perfectly okay checking it down to these two really high-end running backs.
11:19That includes Kyron Williams, one of the captains of this offense this season,
11:22who's in the backfield on first down.
11:24But they will throw on the first play.
11:26And it's Stafford nearly picked by Warner.
11:29Oh, a dangerous start.
11:30He was looking to force it to Nakua, and Warner was right there step for step.
11:35And I'll tell you what, Fred Warner, they're so happy to have him back.
11:37You saw him pregame at practice this week, keeping guys around him, getting the energy high.
11:42And for Fred Warner right there, missing a lot of last season,
11:45for him to get some early action, feel like he's in the game,
11:47is a big step in the right direction for him and all these Niner fans.
11:51There's a presence that Warner and Greenlaw bring,
11:53and you see who had the pressure on the first play.
11:55Nick Bosa coming off the injury last year.
11:58His second torn ACL as an NFL player, this time in his right knee.
12:02Second down and 10, the late handoff.
12:04Here's Williams, who weaves his way across the 20,
12:07and then is stood up at the 22-yard line to set up third and manageable for this Rams offense
12:12that is just so explosive.
12:14Last year led the NFL in so many offensive categories that include points per game,
12:20that includes yards per game, that included yards per play.
12:23They were third, over 335 yards per game, that had all the weapons with Nakua and Adams on the outside
12:29and a very experienced returning offensive line to protect the now 38-year-old Matthew Stafford.
12:36On third down and five, here comes the blitz.
12:38Stafford quick, Nakua caught, but Lenoir was right there for him and not first down.
12:42A quick three and out forced by this Niner's defense.
12:46Yeah, great job by this Niner's defense right here.
12:48And this is something we were thinking we would see early in this game.
12:51You look at Raheem Morris last year with the Atlanta Falcons,
12:53what he was able to do to this L.A. Rams team, they line up, they play man, they send
12:57pressure.
12:58They're going to look so different this year than they did last year.
13:01So Ethan Evans is going to come out for the punt.
13:04And back deep, Jacob Cowling, what an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown
13:08against the Chargers in the preseason, and has now won the starting punt returning job.
13:16It is third year out of Arizona.
13:19Cowling will get underneath it and take it from the 20-yard line.
13:22Makes one move and shows off the speed across the 30 to set up this San Francisco offense
13:28led by Brock Purdy coming through a healthy offseason
13:31and has said that he wants to get back to his rookie tendencies,
13:35footwork, eye discipline, and everything in between.
13:38He talked a lot about Drew Brees and Peyton Manning
13:40and how quickly they go through their progression.
13:42And when he flipped the tape on, he had a healthy offseason,
13:44so he had plenty of time to kind of look.
13:45How did I look in the past?
13:47He looked at his rookie year, and he said,
13:48My base was really good.
13:49I went through my progression really well,
13:51and that's something he's trying to get back to this year.
13:55He had the injuries last year that forced him to miss a number of games,
14:00but they were 7-2 in the games he started,
14:02and they start with a man that led the NFL in touches last year,
14:05Christian McCaffrey, who burst through the hole
14:07and picks up a solid 6 on first down before running into Landman.
14:11McCaffrey certainly leading the way,
14:13but along with the newest addition, Mike Evans,
14:15who is going to be a major factor,
14:17along with the rookie, Dajon Stribling,
14:19who we expect to see a lot of here in game number one.
14:21The offensive line is still anchored at that left tackle spot.
14:24Trent Williams, now the oldest starting offensive lineman in the NFL
14:27and still playing at an elite level.
14:30On second down and four.
14:32Purdy to the outside, and it's caught.
14:34No, it's dropped by Kittle.
14:36Came back in time, coming off a torn Achilles for this week one game,
14:40and a sluggish start both sides offensively.
14:42Yeah, and they're trying to get the ball to their playmakers early.
14:44Obviously, Christian McCaffrey there, George Kittle,
14:46but this sets up third down,
14:48and this is kind of the question we were wondering.
14:50With this pass rush that they have now
14:52in these two high-end corners on the outside,
14:54they played a lot of zone last year.
14:55Do we get more man?
14:56Do we get more man pressure?
14:58Heat it up and make Brock Purdy make a quick decision.
15:04McCaffrey in there on third down and four.
15:07Purdy in the pocket,
15:08and he has a completionist first to Mike Evans for a first down.
15:18Again, getting Mike Evans involved in the slot right here.
15:20They get him matched up on Quentin Lake,
15:22and you better believe Brock Purdy's going to take this match up all day.
15:25Big, physical, huge frame.
15:27All he's got to do is run up there,
15:28plant his inside foot, give a little push off,
15:30and then Brock Purdy puts it out there,
15:32wide open in space, first down, Niners.
15:35Purdy hasn't had a ton of time through training camp
15:37to work with Evans because he's been dealing with his own injury issues,
15:40but feels like they have a chance to really be special this year
15:43as they set up a screen.
15:44Kiddock puts a couple tackles and brings it into Rams territory.
15:48They are so happy to have this guy back
15:50as he picks up six and sets up second and short
15:52against a Rams defense that everybody expects
15:55to be one of the most menacing units
15:57in the entire league this year.
15:59Already was excellent last year,
16:01and they fixed what they felt were a lot of their problems.
16:03First of all, you get Miles Garrett,
16:05the reigning sack leader of all time in a single season
16:08with 23 last year,
16:09but the biggest additions they feel are McDuffie
16:11and Watson, their two cornerbacks,
16:13that can be shut down on the outside.
16:17Kalon Black, the rookie out of Indiana,
16:19third-round pick is in there on second and four.
16:21They fake it to him.
16:22Purdy swings it, and it's Debo Samuel
16:24and a welcome back to the Niners
16:25as they'll take it to the Rams,
16:2740-yard line on a gain of nine.
16:29The reason they believe that Debo
16:31could have an excellent year this year,
16:32they think they have the weapons around him
16:34that take some of that pressure off him
16:36to be one of those main guys.
16:37Yeah, and the thing that he does best, right,
16:40is what he did right there.
16:41Catch the ball in space,
16:42give Debo an opportunity
16:43to be the big physical wide receiver that he is.
16:45He's kind of a hybrid
16:46between a running back and a wide receiver.
16:48You get the ball to him in space,
16:50he's very difficult to get on the ground.

16:53and all three have gone to three different receivers.
