00:00Residents of Kanhai Road, Bhargpur, are calling on the government to immediately fix the deplorable roads in their community.
00:06They say the roads have been neglected for decades, and back in February, they were told money was approved to
00:11begin work, but nothing has happened to date.
00:14On Wednesday morning, residents told our reporter, Cindy Raghabar-Tikasingh, that a UNC safe seat should not be neglected this
00:21way by a UNC government.
00:24No road, no vote! No road, no vote! No road, no vote!
00:29For over four decades, residents say Kanhai Road North, Bhargpur, has not received a proper paving, and it's now well
00:38overdue.
00:40It's a winding obstacle caused daily when the place is dry, and when it rains, it's a sea of uncertainty.
00:48I have to drive in this road, morning and evening, to drop rancher and to school, because the mother is
00:54working.
00:54My car right now needs tires, the shocks may be gone, the brakes may be gone too, but I have
01:01to make out.
01:02And it's nice, you know what they call here? This is the Boko Reef and the nylon pool in Morocco.
01:06We want, we road, fixed. We're fed up with the MP, doing nothing. All he's doing is just walking by
01:14people's house, shaking their hand, hugging them up.
01:17That's all he's doing. Right? I speak to him, two occasions, and what he told me, he back broad.
01:25So he could take that. He could take the protest.
01:31They claim the MP for Napa Rima, Dr. Narendra Rupnarain, has failed to take their concerns seriously,
01:39especially after they say they were told money had been approved for repairs seven months ago.
01:45At that meeting, right, they say they hold $320,000, right, to fix this rule.
01:52I hope to know, February this year, beginning of this year, no rule I fix nothing, only come on and
01:58drop some millions.
01:59And that is it.
02:00What's going on with this UNC government, they know that Napa Rima is a safe seat for them.
02:09So if they put a donkey with a UNC jersey, they will still vote for them.
02:13So they're doing, this is what they're doing to us. And it is wrong.
02:17They're fixing the whole road, they're patching. But this is not even patching, sir.
02:21This is all patching.
02:22You understand? Next year, we want to remind the MP and Ms. Kamla Pesad, Ms. Sessa, and the councillor, especially
02:30councillor,
02:30we support him right through for the election, right?
02:34Local election coming up next year. By my house, it's about six or seven votes.
02:39So that will be less if this road go fixed.
02:41Speaking briefly to TV6 News, MP Rup Narayan said he would not comment on claims that money was approved for
02:48repairs, but said,
02:50As you may be well aware, this administration would have inherited a road network
02:56that is in a severe need of support throughout the country, and Napa Rima is no exception.
03:05In my constituency, several areas have been scoped, and as soon as it is possible,
03:12the necessary work would be initiated to bring relief to my constituents.
