00:00Our dishwasher is super old and disgusting. Let's see what we can do without actually buying a new
00:05one because it's just not in the budget. I grabbed a sheet of beadboard from my local building supply
00:10store and I cut it down to size. I sanded all the edges and then wiped the back clean. You
00:15want to
00:16make sure it's really clean so that the glue will stick well. I grabbed this roll of magnetic strip
00:21and I cut it to size of the beadboard length. I cut three strips. I pulled the adhesive backing
00:27off and added Gorilla Glue. I thought it might need to be a bit stronger. I flipped it over and
00:32while
00:32it was drying I applied two coats of paint to the beadboard. I used some sample cans and mixed them
00:38up to create this beautiful neutral color. I applied it using a small roller. Okay let's see if this is
00:44gonna work. The top part of our dishwasher is damaged but it still works fine so I added some towels
00:54to
00:55the top and you'd never know just how ugly this thing is underneath. It is so much less trashy and
01:00it was so easy to do. This is such a great way to upgrade your dishwasher or any appliance in
01:06your
01:06kitchen. Replacing appliances can be costly but now you don't have to with this simple inexpensive
01:11and easy upgrade on a budget. I have this area here in my butler's pantry where I've decorated it
01:18nicely but it still seems like the wall is just a little too bare. I didn't want to get out
01:23all my power
01:24tools and cut and measure so I actually found that it would be better to use beadboard
01:29wallpaper. You can paint this wallpaper and you can apply it just like beadboard paneling
01:35but you can do it in half the time and without all the power tools. And then to apply it
01:40to the
01:41wall all I have to do is get a big tub of cold water and then I just submerge the
01:46wallpaper piece
01:47into the water with the pre-pasted side facing out. You leave it to sit in there for only just
01:53five seconds. Bring it over to the wall and just put it in position. Then you just use a brayer
02:01tool
02:02or like a credit card or any kind of flat scraping tool to remove all the air bubbles and make
02:08sure
02:08it's pushed right up against the wall. I cut my next piece to fit based on the measurements of the
02:14first piece and then just repeated the process with the water applying it on the wall and then using
02:20the brayer and my spatula to smooth out any air bubbles. Once I had let it set and dry on
02:27the wall
02:27I decided I wanted to paint it. I'm just using a white paint here the same color as my trim
02:33work in this
02:34room. I had a scrap piece of trim left over from a previous project and then I used an air
02:39nailer just
02:40to tack it into place just above my wallpaper. Once that was done I could go ahead and replace my
02:46outlet cover and this wall was finished. It only took me a couple hours to do this and it totally
02:53transformed this space here and gave it the country cottage vibe that I was going for and really broke
02:59up the wall and added a much needed accent piece. This is so easy to do. I hope this encourages
03:05you to
03:06get creative with beadboard wallpaper and try this in your own home. So let's give your refrigerator a
03:12makeover that can be as permanent or as temporary as you want. Start by measuring the height and width
03:18of each panel of your refrigerator door. Next remove the handles from your fridge. It takes two minutes
03:25with an allen wrench and it makes the whole application so much easier. This is the star of the show.
03:32Peel and stick wallpaper. Mark your measurements right on the back of the wallpaper. Use a long
03:38straight edge if you have one and take your time with the cutting. You want clean edges to make the
03:43whole finished project look more intentional. Starting at the top of the refrigerator press the
03:49peel and stick wallpaper to the top of the door section you're starting with and work your way down.
03:55Press firmly from the center and smooth outward to push out any air bubbles as you go. This is the
04:01rhythm of it. Peel a few inches of backing. Press and smooth. Peel a little more. If a bubble shows
04:08up
04:08lift gently and repress. Peel and stick is forgiving. So every refrigerator is built differently and how
04:16your hardware is attached is going to be specific to your fridge. Mine happens to have a couple of
04:20bolts on the top and on the bottom and I'll be honest as I was applying the peel and stick
04:25I'm thinking
04:25okay how am I going to handle these bolts because I certainly don't want to paper them. I want them
04:31to
04:31be free so I can affix the handle back on. So the key is to be super slow, deliberate, and
04:39a tiny pair
04:40of scissors. So you're going to go straight down to the top of the bolt and I'm pressing on the
04:45top so I
04:46can see exactly where that bolt is. Then I'm going to take my scissors and I'm going to snip the
04:51tiniest
04:52little hole and you're going to keep working your way around that and finally like this one the paper
04:59just slides over the top and I was like yay it worked. Section by section work your way all the
05:05way down the door panel. Keep smoothing the paper and check your edges as you go. For the bottom freezer
05:11section panel I needed to join two pieces of wallpaper together by matching the pattern.
05:16Take your time lining up the repeat before you commit. For excess paper I simply folded the excess
05:24over and created a crease in the paper with my fingernail. Then I had an instant line guide to
05:30follow when cutting off the excess. Once all the paper is on the handles go back right over the paper.
05:38Here's a bonus round. I noticed the dishwasher nearby wanting to be a part of the pattern party.
05:44Same exact process and honestly it might even be easier since there are no handles to deal with.
05:50Measure, cut, peel, press, smooth and trim the excess. There she is. Same refrigerator. Completely
05:59different kitchen. No paint or no new appliances. The whole kitchen just shifted and the best part
06:05if you ever want to change it it peels right off. I hope this inspires you to take some peel
06:11and stick
06:12wallpaper and give your refrigerator a makeover. My kitchen is honestly super outdated and a full
06:19renovation just isn't in the budget right now. But instead of waiting for the perfect time I decided
06:24to start with one small project that could actually make a big impact. The first step was taking out the
06:30old light and fan and this instantly opened up things and gave me a blank slate to work with.
06:36From there I started building out the frame for a custom looking range hood but that's not quite what it
06:41is.
06:41I kept it really simple and budget friendly using materials I already had and are easy to work with
06:47but still give it that custom look. One of my favorite parts of this project is that it's not
06:52just for looks but it's actually going to add a lot of function to our space which arguably is the
06:57most
06:57important type of kitchen upgrade. I used spackling to smooth everything off and then I sanded it when
07:03it was dry and I gave it two coats of paint. After the hinge was added and everything was in
07:08place
07:09I made use of the functional space by adding pantry items and large serving platters and that's how I
07:15upgraded my kitchen in a weekend with only spending $15. The difference is huge isn't it? I completely
07:22changed the feel of this whole space and made it look so much more intentional and custom without the
07:28cost of a full renovation. We've been renovating our kitchen on a budget but because of the new sink
07:33size we can't put our original cabinetry doors back. So I took some measurements of the width and
07:39the height. I painted two coats on the pine trim piece and my flat decorative corbels. Next I sewed some
07:47simple curtains to fill this area. With my curtains sewn all I have to do is slide my tension rod
07:53through the
07:53panels like so and then just simply push this tension rod up between the opening. I took the flat trim
08:00piece and used an air nailer just to secure it. Then I added my decorative corbels into place. This is
08:06such a super simple project and easy to do and I love the way this just finishes up this space
08:12with a
08:13farmhouse touch. Now this clutter under my sink is hidden with these beautiful curtains.
