00:00The 2026 Eagles will be what in your mind?
00:04Well, they'll be a team that has to be able to run the ball again, right?
00:07I mean, they went from second two years ago to 18th last year.
00:12And we know Jalen Hurts, listen, bottom line is Jalen Hurts
00:17has been to two Super Bowls, won one, lost one,
00:19but he was the best quarterback in both of them.
00:21Jalen Hurts can play football.
00:23We know all the talk doesn't throw over the middle a lot.
00:26He and A.J. Brown had a little bit of a falling out.
00:30But he still led that team to two Super Bowls.
00:34But one thing he's not going to do,
00:36he's not going to throw for 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns.
00:39That's just not this offense.
00:41This is an offense that's built on compatibility,
00:44running the ball and throwing the ball.
00:46The old line went through some injuries as well last year.
00:50And that's something, Dan, you know, we can never predict.
00:53We can't predict injuries.
00:54We have no idea what's going to happen.
00:55But they do need to get back to the running attack.
00:58Got some nice additions on defense for Fick Fangio, though.
01:02Absolutely here.
01:03Mike, what do you make of this, though,
01:04when you're going through all these changes and schematic changes?
01:07You hire a brand-new coordinator in Sean Mannion.
01:10You hire a brand-new passing coordinator.
01:12You let loose in somehow of Jeff Stoutland walking out of the building.
01:17You also bring in someone else now.
01:19Now, with all these schematic changes here, with a first-year play caller,
01:24with a quarterback who really traditionally doesn't throw the ball from the pocket to win games,
01:30is that going to be an uphill challenge when you don't have A.J. Brown in the building?
01:34Listen, you put all those things together, it does sound dire, especially losing Stoutland.
01:38I mean, that guy, I mean, was absolutely fantastic.
01:41But we also have to understand, Jalen Hurts, going back to college and through his NFL career,
01:45has been through a whole lot of OCs, a whole lot of OCs.
01:49So he's been down this road before.
01:52He kind of knows how to make chicken salad out of chicken you-know-what.
01:56But it is a fact.
01:58You have a young coordinator, a first-time play caller.
02:02Listen, the plays, nobody's reinventing the wheel on plays,
02:06but a coordinator's job is the timing of said plays,
02:10is the chess match with the defensive coordinator.
02:13So that's what goes into it, and it's a guy that's going to be learning on the run.
02:18So I would say that is definitely a hold-your-breath moment until they get into sync.
02:26But also, like I said, Jalen Hurts has been used to a new O.C.
02:30Mike, do you think Jalen Hurts is an elite quarterback?
02:34Wow, the old elite quarterback, huh?
02:36I think in what he is asked to do, he is elite.
02:42Like I said, when we think of elite, we think of a lot of passing yards and a lot of
02:46touchdowns.
02:46That's not Jalen Hurts.
02:48That's not what he's going to do.
02:50He can be dangerous with his legs, and he can be the best player on the field.
02:55Like, as I said, we saw in two Super Bowls, he can take over a game.
02:59So in that respect, he is elite the way he manages and plays the game.
03:05Not elite in the way we think of a Joe Burrow quarterback,
03:10an old Peyton Manning quarterback, throwing for tons of yards and tons of touchdowns.
03:16That's not going to be Jalen Hurts.
