00:02Two adversaries, both on air and now in court.
00:06Their tumultuous relationship has today been laid bare.
00:10Do you believe Ray Hadley wanted to bury you, Mr Jones?
00:13Alan Jones has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching.
00:18His radio rival, Ray Hadley, was back to give evidence about one alleged victim,
00:24complainant C, who worked with Mr Jones.
00:28Ray Hadley has told the court he signed a secret $4 million contract in 2018
00:33to take over breakfast from Alan Jones.
00:37An offer, he says, was at the request of 2GB shareholder John Singleton,
00:42who allegedly told him he'd had enough of Jones costing him millions in defamation cases.
00:48Mr Jones ended up keeping the breakfast slot and their relationship continued to sour.
00:54Mr Hadley told the court Alan Jones tried to frame him for an office assault that never happened,
01:00telling police that afterwards,
01:02I went into Jones' office and slammed the door and I told Jones he was a **** and a dog.
01:08Mr Hadley admitted he regularly referred to Mr Jones in derogatory terms,
01:13including grub and, on one occasion, a homophobic slur.
01:17You sent C a message that included the words Jones outed as a ****.
01:22It appears to be the case, yes.
01:24Today's evidence barely mentioned the assaults that Mr Jones is accused of.
01:29But the defence case is that Ray Hadley hated Alan Jones and wanted to destroy him with a criminal complaint.
01:36In December 2023, when media stories about the alleged assaults were published,
01:41Mr Hadley texted complainant C, saying the story had been 50 years in the making
01:47and I won't rest until we bury him, figuratively speaking, or literally.
01:54Ray Hadley will return to The Witness Box tomorrow.
