00:25One, the unfortunate accident that he had when he was a player at the University of Miami, which a person

00:34Then they started talking about his short arms.
00:38Well, I've watched him play so far in the exhibition season, and he has been electric.
00:45Reuben Bain is going to be my prediction on making it and being named the defensive rookie of the year
00:52in the National Football League.
00:54I thought this guy was the best football player defensively in the country a year ago.
00:59I thought he was the best football player on the field in the National Championship game when they took on
01:03Indiana down in South Florida.
01:06Reuben Bain, I've known his family for over 30 years.
01:10Played with his uncle, Tober Bain, at the University of Miami, and I've known the kid.
01:14The kid's nothing but character.
01:17He's a guy that's going to transform.
01:18I think Todd Bowles' defense may be giving Todd that one-star football player that they haven't had down there

01:27Reuben Bain had to go through the draft process.
01:30Michael Irvin and I both talked about it.
01:32How in God's name do you throw all of that innuendo out at Reuben Bain about the short arms,
01:40not being able to be able to play in the NFL at that position as an edge rusher,
01:46trying to dismiss all the things that he had accomplished at the University of Miami.
01:50Then you release that unfortunate story.
01:52By the way, that story and that accident happened three years ago.
01:57But as the draft got closer, all of those stories came out trying to hurt his position in a draft,
02:03in which it did.
02:04He ended up going 15th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
02:08He was supposed to be a top 10 pick.
02:11This shows you and motivates people sometimes to doing great things.
02:16I've known the kid, as I said, for a long time,
02:19and I think Reuben Dane is going to be a great football player in this league,
02:23and I think he's going to have a massive impact.
02:26Rookie of the year, that's my pick for him to be able to do that this season for the Tampa
02:31Bay Buccaneers.
02:31He'll be the best defensive football player that the Bucs have had since Warren Sapp.
02:39His tenacity, the ability that players are now following him,
02:45all the things that he has brought so far to the Buccaneers
02:50has been instrumental in transforming Todd Bowles' defense.
02:53Had a chance to talk to many other people.
02:56Larry Foote, the linebacker coach there with the Buccaneers,
02:59and how his camp has gone so far,
03:01and he said Reuben Bane has brought an energy to our football team that we haven't had
03:06and an attitude that we haven't had in quite some time here in Tampa Bay.
03:11That's exactly what you're going to need this year
03:14if you're going to have that defense carry that football team
03:18because the offense, in my opinion, is still going to struggle,
03:20but you imagine you're going to put Reuben Bane next to Vita Vea
03:24and put him in that position for him to have success.
03:27Great things are ahead for that kid.
03:30So rooting for him.
03:31Obviously, I'm biased because I know the kid so well,
03:34but there were a lot of things that were said in the draft process
03:38that really tried to do a lot of damage to the kid
03:41and being able to have him as a first-round pick.
03:44So rookie of the year, big impact.
03:48I think that kid's going to have a sensational year.
03:51Going to be a lot of good players also, by the way.
03:53Also, Messador, too, is going to be in that conversation.
03:57So I do like Caleb Downs, but my boy is Reuben Bane
04:01as your defensive rookie of the year.
