00:00In your opinion, Dak Prescott as a Talos Cowboy has been what to you?
00:05Oh, he's as good a leader as they've ever had.
00:08I told people two or three years into his career,
00:12his career would tell us how good a quarterback he is.
00:16When it comes to being a character guy, the leader in your locker room,
00:22the face of your franchise, the guy you want to have represent you and build around,
00:26he is the equal of Aikman and Staubach, not as a quarterback, as that kind of a human being.
00:35And that's proven to be true.
00:37And as a quarterback, I think he's better than he's ever been.
00:41And he can play at a very high level for several more years.
00:45And he is because they – one thing you said at the very beginning, Dan, was right,
00:51that you – except you said you have to win a Super Bowl to be a great quarterback.
00:58And I think that you have to win a Super Bowl to be viewed as a great quarterback.
01:03But I think you can be a great quarterback.
01:07Like, I don't know if Matthew Stafford is any better after he won a Super Bowl than he was before.
01:14But he's viewed differently, and he ought to be.
01:18I mean, Drew Brees, who now has a gold jacket, which he earned, he won one Super Bowl.
01:25And if Prescott is able to do that here, he'll be in that conversation.
01:30But I'm just telling you, as the guy you want leading your team and taking the bullets
01:36and being in the community and leading the locker room and character and being real,
01:44nothing artificial about him, he is the equal of two of the greatest I've ever seen.
01:51Let's go to the offensive backfield here and to the perimeter.
01:55Javante Williams and George Pickens.
01:59Brett, can they do it again?
02:01A year ago, they had great years.
02:03I mean, can they do it again in your opinion?
02:05Yeah, they theoretically could be better.
02:08Yeah, the offensive line hopefully plays better.
02:11I think that's some questions at both tackles, especially left tackle.
02:15But questions can be answered yes sometimes.
02:18I think Williams, we're presuming good health.
02:22You know, everyone doubted that Javante Williams could stand up to a full season
02:27because he hadn't done it since his second year in Denver when he got hurt.
02:30Well, he did.
02:31And there's absolutely nothing in his demeanor, the way he works, the way he practices,
02:38worked out in the offseason, has looked so far out here.
02:42Nothing that says that he's lost anything.
02:45And I do think that a couple of the guys they had as rookies last year who they hoped would
02:50provide depth,
02:51who one was hurt and one was still a knucklehead, and they look like they could be contributors.
03:00And then if the whole thing is better, then the whole load might not be on Williams.
03:05And they might use him more in the passing game.
03:07But, yeah, Javante Williams can be even better than he was last year.

03:14The next year, he was awesome as a play caller last year.
03:18And the numbers prove out to that point on what they did offensively.
03:22Like you just said, if those players continue to evolve,
03:27Brian Schottenheimer, how has he evolved, do you think, from his first year to where he is today?
03:31He's a very bright guy.
03:33He's his father's son.
03:35He's certainly grown and growing.
03:38Don't forget, he knew as his season unfolded, although no one would ever say it,
03:45I mean, they had to score about four or five touchdowns every game to have a chance to win because
03:50of the defense.
03:51So he can theoretically, if the defense is better, then he doesn't have to score 35 or 40 points to
03:59give them a chance to win.
04:00And if you don't have to do that, then you can call things a little differently.
04:05And if your defense will get you a takeaway or two, as you well know, and you shorten the field
04:12and give them more short fields,
04:13then you can call the game a little differently.
04:17But he's got a plan.
04:18He knows exactly what he wants to do, and he is the head coach of the whole football team.
04:23They've had some here who were that, and they have had some here who were much more interested in one
04:30side of all.
04:32Chan Gailey was really interested in the offense.
04:35Wade Phillips was really interested in the defense.
04:39Not all of them have truly been the head coach of the whole team.
04:44I don't think that that's unusual, but I think what you want is the guy who's the head coach of
04:50the whole team,
04:50and I think Schottenheimer's that.
04:52And I think he had a good first year, and I expect him to have a better second year, both
04:59as the head coach and the play ball.
