CATCH OR NO CATCH?? Curtis: "A freaking embarrassment! So pathetic" Greg: "I mean it was a catch, right?" A controversial Rafaela 'catch/no catch' changed the game- as Yankees roll to 16-1 win, yesterday. NYY take series. Thoughts on series?

00:00And a disappointing end to that series with the Yankees.
00:05And so the whole apparatus of the replay yesterday is such an
00:11freaking embarrassment.
00:12I mean, it was a catch, right?
00:15To anybody with a set of eyes, that was a catch.
00:18It was a catch.
00:20And we'll get to what Chad Tracy said during they said it after the game
00:26about how, you know, that blown call is responsible for what happened
00:31in that game.
00:32I'm not going to – I can't give him all of that.
00:35No, but he's right.
00:36Certainly.
00:36I mean, yeah.
00:37I mean, you were in it, and it was nothing.
00:39It changed the whole game.
00:40It was nothing, nothing, and it changed.
00:42Because that would have been a double play, and it would have been smooth.
00:45They probably get out of that inning at 0-0 on the game.
00:48Rather than that, they upheld the call, and then you get out of that inning
00:53down 5-0, and that was it.
00:56The floodgates opened after that, but that was the worst thing ever.
01:00Like, you're right, Kurt.
01:00It's like anybody with a set of eyes could see that.
01:02I mean, in real time, I mean, the first time everybody saw the replay,
01:06like, oh, it's a catch.
01:07Yeah.
01:07Like, okay.
01:08Like, there's no way the ball is where it was in the mitt if it hit the
01:11ground.
01:12Yeah.
01:12I don't know how to describe it, but you watch it, and I don't know.
01:16The whole reason we have replay is for that.
01:19There's so many balls and strikes that we review for no reason,
01:22but, like, an actual consequential play like that in the outfield,
01:25where I understand an umpire made and missed that in real time.
01:28Like, that's totally normal or whatever.
01:30It would have taken me three seconds.
01:32Catch, okay, two outs, bye.
01:33And the replay angle or just the camera angle from every direction
01:39showed it clearly.
01:40Like, it wasn't one of those, like, ah, I can't really tell.
01:42From this angle, it looks like a catch.
01:44This one, it doesn't.
01:44Every single angle was fine.
01:45Yeah, and so that was the thing.
01:47And that, you know, ultimately was, you know, in my opinion,
01:51I think that was the game right there.
01:53You know, after that happened, I think everybody was frustrated.
01:56Mitch has a pull-up.
01:57It wasn't a catch.
01:58Somehow I think people are going to vote it was a catch.
02:00Yeah, no, I think so.
02:01I think so.
02:02Unless you're a Yankees fan.
02:03Yeah, I think so.
02:04So, Yankees end up winning the season series with the Red Sox, 7-6.
02:11And that's unfortunate.
02:14You're going to be on the road.
02:15Yes, you're going to end up on the road.
02:17So, it doesn't.
02:18I mean, they have a 98.8% chance of being a playoff team.
02:23So, it doesn't affect that.
02:24But it certainly does.
02:26I heard, speaking of Bradford, as I was earlier,
02:30I heard Bradfoe on the station yesterday saying that that was,
02:35yesterday was the most important August Red Sox game in history.
02:41Wow.
02:42Which I thought was a little bit dramatic.
02:46But, unfortunately, it didn't go the way that you wanted it to go.
02:50And you did not get the split of the series, which would have made a difference.
02:54Far be it for me to correct the Bradford man.
02:56But there were some games in August after the Nomar trade in 2004 that were pretty important.
03:00But even if you split, you still would have been a couple games behind the Yankees.
03:04You still would have had to catch them.
03:05But you would have had the season series and it would have only been two games out.
03:08Right.
03:08That was a huge game yesterday.
03:10Right.
03:10But you still had to catch them in the sense of where you would have to have the same record
03:15as them
03:16in order for you to leapfrog them.
03:18You were still a couple games behind them in the wild card overall.
03:23But that was a three-game swing because if you win yesterday, you're two games out from having home field.
03:28Now you're five games out.
03:29No, no.
03:29I'm not saying that.
03:30I know it was a huge swing.
03:31I'm just saying you're still in the position.
03:34You would have still been in the position where you now still have to perform well and that kind of
03:38thing to ultimately get to the position.
03:41Listen, the optimist on Friday, you weren't here, but he had them catching the Rays.
03:46I did.
03:47Oh, dear.
03:48No, no, no.
03:49I actually said the winner of this series has a really good chance to catch the Rays because the Yankees
03:54play.
03:55I think the Yankees have a four-game stand with them at the end of the season, and it might
04:00be in New York.
04:02So I said the winner of this series is going to put themselves in a great position, and unfortunately for
04:06the Red Sox, it wasn't them.
04:08All right.
