00:00The Red Sox and the communication breakdown or whatever is going on with Garrett Crochet,
00:05but I wanted to call into attention that the Red Sox broke a record yesterday, Greg,
00:10a record that's been held since 1901.
00:12This is from Tom Caron over at Nessun.
00:16This is the first time in the modern era since 1901 that a team's number one, number two,
00:23and number three hitters have each struck out three times at each of their three first
00:28played appearances in the game.
00:30So your first three hitters yesterday were so good.
00:33They struck out each time they faced Drew Raspis for the first three at-bats that they had.
00:38It was so bad.
00:41This offense at times is putrid.
00:46I don't even know how to actually describe it because it's been the worst I've ever seen
00:52a Red Sox offense.
00:54Now, they did end up battling back a little bit late there,
00:57but couldn't quite make the full comeback there.
01:01So, you know, I just want to say Drew Raspis, I believe, also had a career high in strikeouts
01:06in that game.
01:07I think he had 13.
01:08So, you know, if you're striking out 13 times to him, maybe, I don't know, don't.
01:13These guys are professional hitters.
01:14I don't understand why they're so, so bad.
01:18Oh, well, I'll tell you what's in play.
01:20And I was talking about this last night at dinner with a friend of mine who really used
01:27to care an awful lot about the organization for a really, really, really long time.
01:33Guy used to love the organization deep in his heart.
01:36What's in play is 100 losses for the first time since 1965.
01:41Wow.
01:41My God.
01:43They are 20, what are they, 27 and 39?
01:47Correct.
01:4827 and 39.
01:50And so we're well past the first third of the season.
01:55Mm-hmm.
01:56And so, and Brezbot loves analytics.
02:01Statistically, it continues this way.
02:03They'll end up with 117 Ls on this season.
02:06So, um, things are looking not so good over there.
02:12It's probably worse than the Bobby V, uh, the raps, right?
02:17Yeah.
02:17It feels that way because at least at that time, at least as I remember it, Curtis, maybe
02:22you feel differently.
02:23There was the feeling of if they sucked horribly one year, they were going to really try to
02:29push the next year and be back and be competitive again.
02:33I don't really feel that way now.
02:34Yeah.
02:34And you also had in that year, you had Pedroia and I think Euclid was still on that team
02:39standing up saying, this isn't how we do things.
02:42Basically an open mutiny against Bobby Valentine.
02:46Whereas now you lose Cora, you bring in Tracy, who I guess I was duped.
02:52I liked the guy when we talked to him and I thought he was, this is a collection of guys
02:58that despise the people they work for.
03:01And it is the worst elements of the collapse of 2011 with the Bobby V year into one.
03:06And we're not even into July.
03:08This is such a team.
03:10I say, I mean, I don't know if there's a better word.
03:11It's just loathsome.
03:12Like there's nobody I root for.
03:15Like, I think the players openly bitching about Cora leaving, the players openly mocking
03:20the front office, the players that are, you know, out and injured for months on end, the
03:26dishonesty of the front office.
03:27I'm sorry.
03:28I mean, you can't tell me that Roman Anthony didn't have a sprain or a tear or mock the
03:32question.
03:32And then have the guy that's actually suffered the injury mock you.
03:37And like, I just, the whole group.
03:40And now you have in consecutive weeks, you have the, the Breslow hit piece by Healy.
03:46And then a week later you have the Healy, his job safe story, both in the globe.
03:50There's another one in the globe.
03:52Just so you know, Alex Spear talked to a bunch of rival, uh, evaluators.
03:59Yeah.
03:59Like executives.
04:00Uh, some of the quotes were describing the Red Sox as punchless.
04:05I can't believe they're content going with so many AAA players, utility infielders at
04:11the bottom of the lineup.
04:12A lot of guys who on the team who satisfy the model, but our role players who are being
04:17overexposed.
04:18All right.
04:18So it's almost like they brought up the Woo Sox to play at Fenway.
04:22Yeah.
04:23And then you got Marcelo Meyer who woke up yesterday morning with stiffness.
04:28I remember what that used to be like, Curtis.
04:32And, um, and, um, and, and, and, and things are healthy and can't, Northeast men's health.
04:37And he can't play right.
04:39Like, okay.
04:41What, what is that?
04:42Because he finally hit the ball twice at back-to-back games and then he's stiff.
04:47Like, I, or is it because of the driveline stuff?
04:50Is it because they have those guys hitting way too much, like way too much?
04:57So why does it, the driveline affect other players with injuries?
05:01If, if so many teams are using it in baseball, why?
05:05I don't know.
05:06I have no idea.
05:07Why does it seem like it's only the Red Sox players who physically?
05:10Well, Lou said, you know, the report was not a, he thought it was bogus, but there was
05:15some speculation that it was the driveline guys who made Roman Anthony go back and try
05:21swing and that, and that led to the, if you buy that, he re-injured that or made it worse
05:27or whatever, that led to that.
05:29So I don't know.
05:30It's a disaster though.
05:32117 losses on the way.
05:34If I were a part of, if I was the smallest minority investor in Portney's pursuit of the
05:40Red Sox, which I think may be happening behind the door, close doors, I would say, get rid
05:45of everybody, front office players, there, there was not a redeemable soul for me.
05:51Is there a player or two that you would not get rid of?
05:54No.
05:54Get them off.
05:55No.
05:56Not even, even crochet.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Out for the entire season.
05:59The guy's missed a couple seasons already.
06:00He's not even 28.
06:02Yeah.
06:02Adios.
06:03And what about Roman Anthony?
06:06No, thank you.
06:06Okay.
06:07You're giving up on Roman Anthony completely?
06:09I mean, I said, and I felt like I was early on it, but I hope I'm not right.
06:14A couple of weeks ago that I felt like this is a lost season for him, but I don't think
06:17he's a flop of a career.
06:19It's June 11th that he has one more home run than James.
06:22Yeah.
06:22That's what I'm saying.
06:23It's a lost season.
06:24Right.
06:25I don't think that, I don't think he's not going to be a great ball player.
06:27I mean, if you think he's going to-
06:28He missed the playoffs last year.
06:30I mean, he wasn't there with the-
06:31So you're fully out on Roman Anthony as a Red Sox player going forward?
06:36Greg said, is there anybody I would keep?
06:37I'm saying there's nobody that I would be like, no, I can't lose on this team.
06:42Sell it all.
06:42Sell it all.
06:43Sell everything.
06:44Burn it to the ground.
06:46Put a sign on it and say, what do they do when they throw a couch out at the-
06:52They call it a Morgan wallet.
06:53Oh, you're talking-
