Sox lose series to Reds- Pitching looks great, but is there an offense issue? Wilyer Abreu is powering the Red Sox, but is it enough. Overreaction Monday? Maybe. But the off-season talk is showing up after series one
Transcript
00:00It's overreaction Monday.
00:01I get it.
00:02And I know it's only one series,
00:04but everything that Curtis and you and Wiggy have said about the offseason
00:09showed up in the first series.
00:11So I don't understand why it's not going to continue.
00:14I mean, we needed a power bat like Alonzo or Suarez.
00:18Suarez hits a three-run homer against us.
00:21We didn't re-sign Bregman.
00:23We went with Durbin, who couldn't touch the ball.
00:27It was just like the same old thing over and over again.
00:30I was pulling my hair out, and we're only three days in.
00:34Well, I mean, yeah, the pitching, you got – the pitching looks good.
00:39Yeah.
00:40Other than, boy, the tree man.
00:42Well, the tree man, I mean, he had a bit of an error.
00:46Yeah.
00:46You know, I was taught in Little League that, you know,
00:50when you're making the tag, you make sure you hold on to the baseball.
00:52But I just – I think that it's fair at some point.
00:57Wiggy said earlier, I think it was during a commercial break,
01:00that he doesn't judge – he says the NFL is the only sport in which you judge it
01:08after week one.
01:09And so he's not – you're not judging until, you know, April –
01:13the end of April or beginning of May.
01:14Yeah, especially with baseball.
01:16Baseball is like basketball, football, and hockey.
01:18Like, you don't hit the panic button after the, you know, first five, six,
01:22seven games of the season.
01:23In football, you know, after the first two, maybe three weeks, you're like,
01:27oh, what's going on here?
01:28You know what I mean?
01:29So I feel like with baseball –
01:31But then again, had you done that with this New England Patriots team,
01:34judge them after week one of the season?
01:35The last two seasons.
01:37Yeah.
01:37You would have been – yeah, you would have been wrong in two different ways.
01:41Right.
01:41But I think the biggest thing going into this season, obviously, you know,
01:46where's the long ball going to come from?
01:48Maybe it's going to be my boy Abreu who had two dongs.
01:52But the thing is, we looked at the rotation, and Conley early looked good.
01:58Obviously, crochet is crochet.
02:01And now you're going to see what Ranger Suarez looks like.
02:05Tonight they play in Houston.
02:07So if you can get your starting rotation, that was the biggest question mark
02:12that you had last year.
02:13But to be fair, they told us, Alex Cora on this show, Craig Breslow on this show,
02:19we believe that we're going to win these baseball games three to one,
02:25two to nothing, and the opposite has occurred.
02:31I mean, they lost three to two yesterday.
02:33Well, you had a chance yesterday if Duran doesn't get thrown out at first.
02:37He probably scores on the single by Abreu, and now it's probably a different ball game.
02:42Then you also had a chance the game before when you go into extra innings
02:46and you had two cracks at it with, you know, with runners,
02:49with the runner at second base.
02:51So I think that you start to look at maybe, like he said,
02:54we're going to be in positions.
02:55But I think Curtis made a great point.
02:57You don't have much room for error.
