00:06okay so i looked it up this is tom kennedy's eighth season with the detroit lions
00:12so seven prior times he has been in a battle for a roster spot he has been waived
00:20at the final cut down six of the seven oh 2021 is the only year that tom kennedy made the
00:27initial
00:2853 man roster every other season he's been waived and in three of those seasons he got waived twice
00:36so he got waived at the end of training camp signed to the practice squad got activated
00:42then waived at some point during the season and managed to clear waivers and end up back on the
00:48practice squad he's the inevitable one he's a survivor yep and because he's got the skill set
00:55of being able to catch the football yep and play special teams yep and apparently a skill set
01:01that's easily surpassed year in and year out by others but still i mean talk about a guy who's
01:08carved out this fascinating niche in detroit sports he has we used to joke about andre fluellen yeah
01:14and andre fluellen for people who don't know was a defensive lineman that they cut and resigned and
01:20cut and resigned and cut and resigned over and over again to the point where we almost the the name
01:25fluellen became more of a verb and now it's i'm gonna guess here that tom kennedy has exceeded the
01:32number of times that andre fluellen got waived and re-signed by the lions and he's probably lapped
01:38him i don't i haven't done the research on that but well andre fluellen came came into the league in
01:442008 uh he was a third round pick part of the millen tree and last played in 2015 he was
01:56a member
01:56of the lions one time in between he spent time with another team and that would have been the
02:02dolphins in 2012 every other year he was with the lions but i have a feeling that this was a
02:10multiple waiver situation with fluellen i think it may surpass tom kennedy's oh do you well because
02:16if he was drafted in the third round means he's only got that four-year deal so every year after
02:232011 he's probably been a waiver candidate okay um you asked a question in your show sheet i think
02:30it's fascinating call your shot the lions backup quarterback to start this season will be

02:41josh dobs i think it's gonna be dobs i i i i want the intrigue of somebody else like johnny

02:50i i think altmeyer is something that's interesting to to work with and i think he'll be
02:54a practice squad guy because the lions typically just carry the two quarterbacks
03:01but they've been invested a little bit with dobbs he it's i think what puts him over the edge of
03:06other players is that he's got the pedigree of having you know worked in a petzing system
03:12uh or at least with petzing at some point so i think that gives him the edge over other candidates
03:17from other teams but i'm i'm holding out that there's gonna be somebody gets released we're all
03:23gonna go what yeah okay the lions backup quarterback is going to be mason rudolph
03:33the steelers are gonna drop i think the steelers are gonna drop him you look at drew aller and what
03:38he has done this preseason they've also got 16 candles bad guy will howard on that roster
03:44and i think mason rudolph is going to be the odd man out and get cut okay and the lions
03:48have had
03:49their eye on them reportedly for years yep interesting can't call your shot the lions
03:54backup quarterback will be not on this roster right now i agree with that part i don't think

07:27to stay healthy that's his biggest issue because when he's healthy they love him on special teams he
07:33knows how to play the running back position but he's just never healthy and it's whether by luck
07:38or not it doesn't matter to me you got to be available and it's it's like i said if he

07:43going to play last week and then also something came up right like this stuff he had a back yeah
07:48some i think this stuff started to bother the coaching staff like dude you're not available ever
07:52so i think there's a reason why they bring out in kareem hunt and these other running backs i think
07:56they're looking for maybe somebody else who could be available i think i'd love to have that's a
07:59candidate i think um the running back position is a candidate for outside the organization to see
08:04if somebody gets cut because it feels like all the running backs except for jameer gibbs knocking on
08:09wood have dealt with some kind of injury during training camp i mean pacheco has he's hardly played
08:15uh sailors came out of the game but hopefully he's all right jabari small he's been doing injuries
08:22obviously vacchi you know they just signed roydell williams but i don't know if there's anything to get
