00:09Let's say that you want to protect your information of a PDF document. In order to do that you can
00:14use the protect option in Acrobat Pro.
00:17So you can access protect from here or you can go into tools over here on the bottom and choose
00:23protect.
00:23So once you do that you can see that you get an option for protect that is to restrict editing,
00:29to encrypt information, remove hidden information and you even get more options.
00:34So restricting editing is when you don't want anyone to edit so you can actually add in a password so
00:40that one can open the document but not edit.
00:43Encrypt is to add in a password to actually open up the document itself.
00:47And here's something that's hidden information actually some metadata files are actually stored in your PDF document while you save
00:56it.
00:57So they may be something you don't want the end user to know.
01:00So you can simply click this and here you can see that there are some metadata right there which actually
01:05got stored with my information.
01:07So if I were to see over here double click this you see that there's a document that's one item
01:12and if you were to see here you click here you can see that my author name and document title
01:18is saved.
01:19So let's say if I don't want these options to actually show up as anything I can simply go over
01:25here and then remove this metadata.
01:28So I can go over here I can say remove press OK and that metadata has been removed just like
01:33that.
01:33So once I do that I can also go into more options the security properties that you can go into.
01:39You can also create secure envelope but we are not going to cover up these things.
01:43So let's add in a password to open and edit the document.
01:47In order to do that I can go to encrypt.
01:49You can also encrypt this with a certificate but in this lesson we're going to encrypt this with a password.
01:54So let me click on this and I'm going to press yes.
01:58So over here you can see that now to open the document you have the password in on the top
02:04and to edit it that's the password on the bottom.
02:06So I'm going to require a password to open up the document.
02:09So I'm just going to say tutor tube 1 which is going to be both T capitals right here.
02:16And then I can also restrict the editing and printing of the document by using this password.
02:21So I'm going to say printing is not allowed or you can just print a low resolution of the PDF
02:27document.
02:28Changes is going to be none, no changes allowed.
02:31Enabling copying up text, not allowed.
02:35So I'm just going to uncheck that.
02:37Enable text access for screen reader devices.
02:40So if you want to use screen reader devices you can take this on but I'm going to turn it
02:45off for maximum security.
02:47So this is not supported in screen reader devices.
02:50And here is what I want to add in a change permission.
02:53So let's say I'm going to add in tutor.
02:57T-U-T-O-R-T-U-B-E 2.
03:01Tutor tube 2 is going to be my change permission password.
03:05So once I'm done with the password I can simply press OK.
03:09And it asks me to retype the password.
03:12So document open password is Tutor tube 1.
03:15I'm going to press OK.
03:16And you can see that it can enforce.
03:19It is just warning me that it can enforce the restrictions.
03:23But there may be other apps out there which can actually bypass this setting.
03:27So this is not foolproof.
03:29So I'm just going to press OK.
03:30And the permission password is Tutor tube 2.
03:34Alright, so once I press that confirmation password does not match.
03:37Alright, so Tutor tube 2.
03:40Alright, there you go.
03:41And press OK.
03:43So once I do that I can just save this out.
03:46So I'm going to save this out onto my desktop itself.
03:50I'm going to save it out.
03:51Alright, there you go.
03:52And I'm going to close the document.
03:53So now let us open up the document.
03:56So I'm going to go to file.
03:57Press open.
03:58And over here you can see that there's the file.
04:00So let me open that up.
04:01And you can see here that it asks me for the password.
04:04So I'm going to type in Tutor tube 1.
04:07Press OK.
04:07And it opens up the document as you can see.
04:10But I cannot edit this anything out.
04:12So you can see that I cannot select anything as is.
04:17So I cannot print it.
04:18So it's disabled as you can see.
04:20You cannot save this either.
04:22So if you want to edit this I'm going to click on edit.
04:24And you can see it asks me for password again.
04:27So I'm going to add in the permissions password.
04:30Press OK.
04:31And password is incorrect.
04:32Let me try again.
04:33Tutor tube 2.
04:35And press OK.
04:36And now it allows me to edit.
04:38So it's performing face recognition everything.
04:41So that I can start editing the page right there.
04:46So now you can see that it is editable.
04:49So I can select the text.
04:50And I can make the changes as I want to.
04:53So that is how adding in password and restriction options work inside of Acrobat Pro DC.
05:00Hope you guys learned something as always.
