00:46Texans that day uh and that uh is uh the newest member Kayshawn Booty and Clint I know the other
00:54the conversation clearly was this a lot and I know I heard Reggie earlier today said he kind of
00:59wanted to push back on my thought of there being a conversation that a Kayshawn Booty was a better
01:07player than than Higgins I mean I think I think a lot of the Higgins thought is based on what
01:14we saw
01:14in training camp and the potential of a step that he would take in a regular season well you know
01:20it's
01:21sad that we don't get a chance to see that this year maybe he gets healthy and we get a
01:25chance to
01:25see that next year but still like based off what they've given us it was still just a a hope
01:33and an
01:33excitement we still hadn't seen this version of what we thought we're going to see from Jaden Higgins
01:38on the field yet but I don't need to to kind of go back and forth on who is better
01:44or not I will say
01:47Clint and Tyler I think there there is a potential that Booty could be more important than what Higgins
01:57brings and the reason why I say that is I think a big thing that this offense
02:06lacks and has lacked is any kind of fear of downfield threats any kind of we've talked about
02:15it I don't know for years Clint really it's it's had to be for years since Tankdale has gone down
02:20the concern of like man who who scares you who who is a defensive coordinator do you look up and
02:28you say
02:28all right man I know 12 is somebody I got to put a lot of resources to but none of
02:34these other guys
02:34not only do they not scare me but I I don't even know if they're gonna go downfield and if
02:42you've
02:42watched him in his career especially last year that's that's like his thing he is a big play threat
02:50in fact last year by the numbers he was top four in terms of best big play down the field
02:59receivers when
03:00it comes to efficiency he was behind Jackson Smith and Jigba Christian Watson and George Pickens he was
03:07he was that type of dude down the field now Clint he didn't always catch him and and they didn't
03:12always
03:13throw him but the threat was clear every time you played the Patriots in him that they would that
03:20they would potentially throw the ball down the field because my man's running nine routes he's
03:26running fades he is down the field and that is just an element that I think right now he brings
03:33to the
03:33table that is probably better than what Higgins brings to the table an element this team just has
03:39not had and I think that at least I don't want to say fear but at least concern for coordinators
03:46and
03:46defenses now like I remember that dude in New England that dude was was running down the field
03:51a lot like we got to to take that a bit serious I think that's important yeah I mean look
03:56Nico Collins
03:57is going to get a lot of attention and so when you look you hear D'Amico say it all
04:01the time we're
04:02going to throw the ball to whoever's open they're not going to put a ton of of time and effort
04:06into
04:06moving Nico and getting advantageous matchups now they may line him up somewhere different but
04:11I'm talking about movement as the ball snapped I'm talking about getting in the ball you know
04:16early in the game three four times a different level that they're just not going to they're not
04:19going to really put a lot of effort into that and and so when you got a system that says
04:25okay we're
04:26going to line up we're going to be pretty stagnant for the most part we're going to let the defense
04:30shade Nico if they want to or load the box versus a run game if they want to and we're
04:36going to throw
04:37the ball to the open guy right that's all fine and dandy if your coordinator in the scheme can get
04:41you the open guy the the part that I that that I think is known because this is about this
04:46isn't
04:46about as Higgins better or Boutte better it's it's the known we we think Higgins was going to be
04:53really good right there's there's a known of what Boutte is and I'll be honest with you I think he's
04:59better than what's known of I think he's got a higher ceiling I think he's yet to reach his ceiling
05:03but the the the beauty about him is he's a guy that doesn't need to have a soft corner
05:12to be open he's a guy that doesn't need the system to to to get him open in a void
05:20in a defense in
05:21order to catch the football he is a guy that if Nico's getting more attention they're going to
05:26leave one defender for a Boutte at any point in time you can throw the back shoulder at any point
05:32in time
05:32you can throw the fade at any point in time you can stay within your quick scheme stay within your
05:38quick game and you can throw the quick fade or you can throw the quick back shoulder and a guy
05:42like Boutte that's what he does I would argue you don't even need great pass protection on some of
05:47those no no it's like the ball would be out in the same amount of time it takes to throw
05:50a hitch or a
05:51slant right there's the ball's out right he's that he's that kind of guy and he's super comfortable
05:58catching the ball with contact right I would argue now Nico's a great receiver Nico's a top 10
06:04receiver so Nico can do it all but I would argue that that catching the back shoulder or even just
06:10catching the go route while you're covered while the DB can't cover you no better I would argue
06:15that Boutte is better at that than Nico is so when you're talking about a guy that doesn't have to
06:20be wide open or schemed open every single time to get to football and now Higgins may have been the
06:25same way I don't know but we know that that Boutte that's the one thing he can do like I
06:30said I think
06:31the ceiling's much higher than what we've seen with Boutte if D'Amico can get the best out of him
06:34I
06:34think we see a better a better player if you watch it just it is down the field like it
06:39it is that is
06:40a threat now the only other part is and I'll give credit to Tyler for this but it is how
06:48does he look
06:49in the conservative Kaley offense that that's the other part of it because that's that's the thing
06:55is Clint we know that he can go down the field in an offense like this because he just came
07:01from
07:01an offense that is like this yeah so that that's the other part now the Texans may deploy and use
07:06him differently than maybe the Patriots did with Josh and and that that could be a thing that makes
07:14this look different but the player we've seen is a downfield threat
