00:00One of the other curious decisions, and this kind of got swallowed up by yesterday,
00:05having the Deshaun News come down, react to Deshaun slagging all of Cleveland after being
00:11booed by all of Cleveland, was the fact that Shador Sanders, not only did he lose the starting
00:17job, he'll be the backup for week one there, he's also not going to play on Thursday night.
00:22And I want to play Todd Munkin's explanation of why it's going to be Dylan Gabriel and
00:28Talon Green on Thursday, and why it's not going to be at least one more half of Shador.
00:33We're not playing him because we'd like to see Dylan more.
00:36Worked out last game, that was unfair to him.
00:39In order to do that, to see more of him, and yet see Talon, there's just not enough reps.
00:44That's the reason.
00:45There's really nothing else.
00:46Just trying to see Talon after he played pretty well in the limited reps he had against the
00:50Bills, and we want to see more of Dylan.
00:52And it just hasn't worked out trying to get those other guys reps.
00:55That's the reason.
00:55Now, this is where I think we should harken back to Todd Munkin about three weeks ago saying,
01:00I don't owe you honesty, because I do think Todd has been mostly honest.
01:05I don't buy this idea of we really wanted to see Dylan Gabriel, and we really wanted to
01:10see Talon Green, which is why we're not giving the backup quarterback and potentially presumptive
01:16starter in like week six, more reps to get ready for the regular season.
01:20All right.
01:20Amuse me.
01:21What do you think it is?
01:22Well, I think part of it is Shador going out there on Thursday, having a really nice
01:29game, no matter who he's playing against, what level of competition, I think that would
01:33be a further bad look for the Cleveland Browns.
01:36Yeah, and I think they know that.
01:37So I think your read is right on.
01:38I also feel like if part of the idea, and this is going to be an obvious statement for
01:42500, Alex, but a part of the idea is they think that Shador can't handle the ins and
01:47the outs of an offense and some of this stuff going up against a real team.
01:51Well, wouldn't this be just a perfect opportunity?
01:53Like, why are we so precious with Dylan Gabriel and caring about his snap counts and caring
01:58about whether he gets work?
01:59It just, it doesn't, it flies in the face of what your argument has been the entire
02:02time Cleveland Browns.
02:04Yeah, I can understand if they think, let's go ahead and see if we can get a good half
02:08of football out of Dylan to go ahead and maybe drive up his stock.
02:12Maybe we can get a conditional six-rounder for him, right?
02:15A year after taking him with a third round pick.
02:17Yeah, like the Bullets are playing Anthony Richardson in their third game.
02:19Like, the idea is that if he looks good, maybe a team would eventually bite.
02:22But like, the reps for Shador is way more valuable than maybe a six-round pick.
02:26Yeah, even if you don't think Deshaun is going to seed this job by week six, because
02:30again, the Browns are going into this thinking, this isn't a week-by-week thing.
02:34Sure, it isn't.
02:35But even if that's not the case, which it should be, you also have to plan in case the
02:42most injured quarterback in the NFL the last five years gets injured again.
02:45Right.
02:46And that would, again, stand to reason that Shador Sanders should be starting, and again,
02:51not just starting, playing a half of football to just continue to allow him to get those
02:56operational reps.
02:57It never made sense to me that the Browns would make Operation the number one reason
03:01why Deshaun got the job and Shador didn't.
03:04And I understand there might be a gap between those two.
03:07Well, how do you call that gap?
03:10You go ahead and play Shador Sanders as much as possible, and you're missing another opportunity
03:14on Thursday.
03:14It just seems like a really dumb move by the Browns.
03:16And again, I think your read on it initially is the right one, which is, by the way, for a
03:22program that really doesn't care about what fans think in the slightest bit.
03:25They're really weighing the fans' opinion on this one.
03:27They don't want to see the stadium light up and applaud and cheer on Shador and a bunch
03:33of people leaving on Thursday night saying to themselves, well, this is exactly why they
03:37should be starting Shador Sanders instead.
03:39And I believe, so this is a, I don't know if it's a primetime game, but they got the heavy
03:44hitters out here for this one, right?
03:45Thursday night football, yeah.
03:46It's Thursday night football.
03:46And so, like, maybe that's part of the discussion as well.
03:49If Shador's playing a half of football, then the half of Thursday night football, all the
03:53commentary is just centered around, this is why he should be starting week one.
03:57This is what he does great.
03:59This is how good he looks.
04:00And fans do pay attention to that.
04:01Which makes this the unanswerable question.
04:03If Deshaun doesn't detonate his standing with Browns fans on Saturday, and if the Browns
04:11aren't in damage control on Monday, does Shador still not play on Thursday?
04:17And I'm leaning that it's very likely if Deshaun doesn't have his little temper tantrum
04:22on Saturday, and the Browns don't spend all of yesterday trying to change what people are
04:27saying about them, I'm leaning towards the idea Shador actually does play.
04:31By the way, if all that changes is Deshaun doesn't have a meltdown, so you still name Deshaun
04:38the starter on Monday, there's just no Deshaun meltdown, I still think there's a healthy
04:44chance Shador still starts on Thursday.
04:46Yeah, I just think it's a dumb decision by Munkin and the Browns.
04:49It just doesn't make any sense to me.
04:51What's logical is he should be playing in this one.
04:54And I understand the idea that between him and Vrabel, they got together and said no starters.
04:58Okay, Shador's not your starter.
04:59That's your backup quarterback right there.
05:01And in what world, I don't even know who the Patriots backup quarterback right now is
05:05in back of Drake May.
05:05I'm going to call him Joe.
05:06Joe is probably going to have a lot of reps though.
05:09I would imagine that.
05:10There are plenty of people that I really, really, really love personally.
05:15And that when it comes to the professional side of things, I don't think much of.
05:21And so, and there are instances of people that I will, I will prop up because I think
05:25they're a good person and all that.
05:28But if you said you have to host a show with them, I would rather get a tattoo on my
05:33perennium
05:34than actually, of Deshaun Watson specifically, than actually have that happen.
05:38Okay.
05:38So I think to put that for the Browns locker room, them liking Deshaun has nothing to do
05:43with Deshaun.
05:44No, no, no.
05:44That's just, he's a presentable jovial guy around Berea.
05:49That doesn't mean they respect him.
05:50And if you said right now that that locker room is playing, that that locker room's
05:55behind Deshaun, hooey.
05:58Absolute hooey.
05:59The only way that they can be behind Deshaun is because like 40, and not about 63% of them
06:05weren't here three years ago when he last played.
06:07I just don't know how you watch Deshaun almost cry at the podium.
06:09That was Mary Kay's description of it, not mine.
06:11But almost cry at the podium, so close to tears and say he mentally can't do this and
06:16can't handle it, and then think to yourself, that's the guy I want to be behind.
06:20I just, I don't know how you get from point A to point B there, Nick.
06:22It just, and the players aren't, they watch Saturday.
06:27They know what Saturday was.
06:28Do you ever think about these guys?
06:29Do you ever think about like Denzel Boston being like, what did I walk into?
06:33Where, where, where, in Casey Concepcion, for instance, like Concepcion's got to think
06:36to himself, if people told me the Browns were funky, hell, he went to Texas A&M.
06:40I'm sure he talked to Johnny Menzel about it at some point.
06:43He's got to think to himself, I can't believe this is what this team is.
06:46As a matter of fact, I think Johnny is just walking around the Texas Texas, sorry, the
06:51Texas campus, Texas A&M campus, just letting everyone know about how pissed he is at the
06:57Browns.
06:58Well, I mean, he signs the Browns helmets, F Cleveland, he's not shy about it.
07:02Do you think like, he's just the, like, I talked about some of the homeless folks in
07:06our street, do you think that's just Johnny, but like a rich version of it?
07:09He just got, don't you know who I used to be?
07:12You think he does one of those?
07:13I would imagine at Texas A&M.
07:15Yeah, I would think so.
07:16I don't know if he goes back or not, but if I were him, I'd probably, I'd probably live
07:18there.
07:19It's the last place that thinks he was just awesome at quarterback.
07:22What a pathetic dude.
07:23I just, well, I would say I feel bad for him, but no, he's got, he's made a lot of
07:27money
07:27and continues to make a lot of money for being a miserable human being and have no self-awareness.
07:31I will tell you, Deshaun, you are number two on my depth chart of people that I think is
07:37just irredeemable human beings.
07:39Oh, you dislike Johnny more than you like Deshaun.
07:41Yeah.
07:42And it hasn't always been this way.
07:43He just won't shut the hell up.
07:45He's just, he's just a, honestly, I think Johnny is the least self-aware human being in the
07:50world.
07:50And I got to be honest with you, there's a lot of people out there have very little
07:54self-awareness.
07:54I'll take Deshaun at the top.
07:56Really?
07:57Yeah, it's odd.
07:57I understand the lack of awareness attached to Johnny Menzel.
08:00I get all of that.
08:01I also get the moments that he seems like a real D and really just doesn't seem like a great
08:04human.
08:05Yeah.
08:05Which is all the time, by the way.
08:06But in the hierarchy of things, Deshaun Watson takes the cake for me.
08:09All right.
08:09The off the field stuff and the lawsuits might, might take the cake.
08:12Tommy DeVito, by the way, is the backup quarterback for New England right now.
08:15I don't know if, yeah, I don't know.
08:17Is his absolutely famed W of an agent going to be there?
08:20It's a Thursday night football game.
08:21Of course, of course he's going to be there.
08:23Tommy Cutlets, let's go.
08:26I don't know if he's going to play or not, though.
08:27I don't know if they let their backup quarterback play him.
08:29The first time I saw that guy, I was like, all right, that's funny.
08:31And then the third time I saw the guy and realized it's not a bit, I got genuinely annoyed.
08:36It's very serious.
08:37Yeah.
08:37I don't get it.
08:38Listen, I don't get annoyed by other people's existence often.
08:43Tommy DeVito's agent is definitely just him being out there.
08:47Just.
08:47I like the shtick of it.
08:49No.
08:49He's a real throwback for me.
08:50No.
08:51I like the shtick.
08:52I think it might have been when he tried out for the football league at 48 that it was like,
08:58all right, I'm out.
08:59We need cartoon characters in life.
09:01I feel like he's a cartoon character.
09:02I do want to know if Tommy Cutlett's manager, agent, only represents Italian guys, because
09:09now that would be kind of.
09:10Didn't we look up his roster at one point?
09:12I think the roster of people he represents is, it's like, it's like everyone's Italian
09:16except for three people.
09:17We definitely looked at somebody.
09:18And like the other three are all the best people on his roster, by the way.
09:21We definitely have looked up agents' rosters before out of pure curiosity.
09:25I don't remember Tommy Cutlett's agent being one of them.
