00:00There's something to the vibe.
00:02There is something to the young guys who are getting their chance
00:06and are showing up when they need to show up.
00:10So I don't...
00:11Well, that's going to be a conversation then, right?
00:13Trevor's story, he's going to be...
00:16I would assume that both he and Roman Anthony are back with the club
00:20this weekend, Yankees series.
00:22Are they thrown right into the starting lineup every day?
00:26I think Roman Anthony will DH, I would assume.
00:29Okay.
00:31Story?
00:31No.
00:32God, no.
00:33I don't know why you currently need to force him in there.
00:37You don't.
00:38I don't know why you do.
00:39Can I just note that Stephen Fall River said that the three out of four
00:43Patriot Championship teams of the early 2000s stunk,
00:47but is standing up saying he thought the worst Red Sox team
00:49through June 1st was really good.
00:52Nonsense.
00:53Okay?
00:54The president of the Red Sox came on this radio station
00:57and said it's time to pivot.
00:59They all quit.
01:00The whole organization did.
01:02They fired their manager.
01:04What they have done is nothing short of historic.
01:07That was a great pivot.
01:09It is amazing.
01:11Even when he gave it up, we all did.
01:12Yeah, we were all at that point when Sam Kennedy goes,
01:14like, you know, in a couple weeks, we might have to pivot.
01:18But now they are where they are, and it is a tribute to the players,
01:22to Tracy, Breslow, everybody.
01:25Nobody thought this was coming.
01:27Nobody.
01:27How many people?
01:27No, I remember when Caleb Durbin was seeking outside assistance
01:32when it came to hitting, and everybody's like, oh, my God.
01:35Like, what did it end?
01:36So why not dance with what brung you?
01:39Like, well, yeah, I mean, that's, you know, I don't.
01:44He don't think that the donut spares can hold up,
01:46and I know there's probably a lot of people up there that are like,
01:48what the hell are donuts spares?
01:49It's that tire thing that you put on.
01:51But he doesn't think that they can hold up in it,
01:53and we've had this conversation before.
01:55Does it become the chemistry versus, like,
01:58the guys that have been playing well?
02:00And I remember, Courtney, I can't remember who the audio you played of
02:05this morning where it was just next man up mentality.
02:09I forget which player said that.
02:10Anthony Siegel.
02:10Was it Flock of Siegels who said that?
02:13And so, right, if you have that mentality.
02:16It was Mickey Gasper.
02:17Oh, Mickey Gasper?
02:18My audio was.
02:19All right, so if you have that mentality, if you're Chad Tracy,
02:23then you have to be really, I guess you've got to walk a fine line
02:26on how you may incorporate some of these guys that are going to be coming
02:30back, especially in such a critical series.
02:35Yeah, I mean, I don't know why you need to, when it comes to Trevor's story,
02:41why you need to make him your everyday shortstop.
02:44Like, I don't, I think there's a risk there.
02:47Like, I'm sorry, you know.
02:49Is there a financial reason?
02:51I haven't nailed this down.
02:52Is there something that they'll owe him or there's something in his contract?
02:56No, he makes like 20 plus million this year, right?
02:58I know.
02:59I need to find, if somebody's smarter than me could explain.
03:01Well, I would ask this question.
03:02He's not, he's certainly not the guy when it comes to the future at the position
03:06because, what, I interrupt Wiggy?
03:08No, no, no, go ahead.
03:09Because they were, you know, they were hot to get themselves a shortstop
03:12at trade deadline time, so.
03:14Oh, he's definitely not the future.
03:16But do they feel like that he's the best defensive shortstop that they have?
03:21And if their biggest thing is pitching and defense, do they feel like he's that,
03:29that when you look at defensively, he's your best defensive player?
03:35And that, okay, how much of a bat are you, if you play him on defense,
03:40what's Monasterio's bat?
03:42Are you losing a bat or whoever is the guy that you've been using right now in his absence?
03:49He hasn't played in a couple months.
03:50Right.
03:52Monasterio makes some good defensive plays.
03:55It's like, it's, the difference is negligible to me.
03:59Yeah, I would not change that at all.
04:01Roman Anthony is an upgrade.
04:03Plus, the injury to Yoshida expedited that return.
04:06Like, absent Yoshida's hamstring, whatever injury he sustained,
04:10then the rush for Roman is not quite as intense.
04:14But, to me, there is no need for Trevor Story.
04:17None.
04:18No thank you.
04:20And if I'm Chad Tracy, I don't want that guy around.
04:23Do you?
04:25Well, he's going to have to figure out how to manage that,
04:27because he's going to be around.
04:29Right.
04:29So, he's going to have to figure out how you manage that.
04:31It might help him if he was giving off the, if the interim tag was taken away.
04:35I'm serious.
04:36He might have a little more standing in that locker room.
04:38I heard Jones and Keith talking about this yesterday,
04:41and Jones made a pretty good point,
04:43which is, don't you want to see how he manages in the playoffs first?
04:48I think he's earned it.
04:49Yeah, I think a lot of people, I mean.
04:51That's going to be the biggest question that he's going to have to answer.
04:54But, like, Jones was saying, what if he goes out there
04:56and he grady littles at some point during the playoffs?
05:00Like, I mean, you know.
05:01Well, that's going to be, yeah, because that would be.
05:03What's the rush?
05:03Like, tell me, what's the rush to remove the interim tag?
05:06I don't think there is none.
05:08But I think as far as, and I don't know whether it's been Bresbaugh
05:12to Sam Kennedy that has talked about Trevor's story
05:16and kind of, like, leadership and things,
05:19I think that you guys are kind of, I mean,
05:24you might be hoping for something that's not going to happen.
05:27I think if Trevor's story is healthy and ready to go,
05:29he is your starting shortstop.
05:31And I believe that's their opinion on how they feel about him.
05:35This is John.
05:36Hello, John.
05:39At the time of Trevor's story's injury,
05:42he was one of the ten worst offensive players
05:46in Major League Baseball.
05:49That's a fact.
05:50There's no disputing that.
05:52This kid has come up and played an under,
05:56a below average shortstop, if we're going to be fair.
05:59But his offense has been far exceeding
06:03what anybody would have expected.
06:05Trevor's story's whoopee, Alex Cora, is no longer here.
06:10His other whoopee, Heim Bloom, that signed him,
06:13is no longer here.
06:14There is nobody here that is going to kiss Trevor's story's ass
06:18because he's a veteran that has a big contract.
06:22I don't see the logic in putting him in any spot in the lineup,
06:27never mind at shortstop.
06:29If I was to put him anywhere,
06:30I think I'd make him play second base
06:32because he would be their best second baseman.
06:35But he won't do that because it's below him.
06:38Yeah.
06:39So if the Red Sox had a working mind here,
06:41they would keep it the way it is
06:43and bring Chang up to play defensively for Monasterio late in the games.
06:48And that's how I do it.
06:50And Trevor's story could sit and spin.
06:52I don't want to disturb the marinara.
06:56That's the way I feel about it.
06:57We've got to take a break.
06:59There's a new L.A.T. movie coming out.
07:01Yes, there is.
07:02Did you hear Shyam say that, by the way?
07:04We had to take a break?
07:05I did hear that.
07:06Yeah, yeah.
07:07Shyam didn't get my ear.
07:08I had a Trevor's story pick, but I'm going to hold on.
