Cloud production tool, live broadcasting without a truck, remote production (REMI): this video explains how broadcasters now produce multi-camera live shows without sending a satellite truck to the venue. Remote and cloud-based production can cut event costs by up to 70% compared to a traditional truck-and-crew deployment, and can lower a broadcast's carbon footprint by more than 90%, according to industry data.

The workflow breaks down into three stages: a bonded field encoder captures the camera signal at the venue and transmits it over combined cellular, Wi-Fi, and wired connections; the signal is frame-synchronized in the cloud so a technical director can cut between cameras without visible drift; and the finished program, switched, graphic'd, and mixed, is distributed straight from the cloud to broadcast and digital platforms at once.

We also cover where cloud production still has limits, including venues with weak connectivity and ultra-low-latency sports coverage, so viewers know when this approach is the right fit.

LiveU is featured as one of the companies building this category of tool. LiveU Studio, part of the wider LiveU EcoSystem, is a cloud-native switcher that pairs with LiveU's bonded field encoders and distribution tools, letting a small crew run a full multi-camera broadcast without a truck near the venue.
