00:00Now unfortunately the current pattern is just the last thing that those firefighters want. This does not help. It actually
00:06just continues to increase the overall fire danger. Very familiar sight that ridge of high pressure just increasing the heat,
00:14increasing our relative humidity, just none of the thing. Well, lowering the relative humidity, but you know what I mean?
00:20None of the things that we want when we have so many existing fires and not only is it heat
00:26that we're talking about, but we are actually challenging records in places like Phoenix.
00:29Phoenix, 115, not necessarily normal for tomorrow specifically, said to break the previous record from 2011 of 113. The other
00:39records here for the most part into Texas. Now there's a trend we're going to be watching as we go
00:43through the week. We're going to be seeing that heat shift further to the west, but let's talk about Texas
00:50a little bit more first. It has not only been very, very hot in Texas for really the summer, it's
00:56also been very dry.
00:58We're looking at August as a whole from August 1st to today. And I mean Dallas, San Antonio, Waco, 0
01:04% of the precipitation you would typically have at this point in the year. Austin, a whopping 1%, 6%
01:12in Houston. So a little bit better there.
01:14Now, as we head into later parts of the week, we finally get some rain in, but not where we
01:19need it the most. Not Dallas, not Austin. It's into the panhandle of Texas and over towards Houston where we've
01:23had the rain when we have had the rain.
01:26Then we see that heat shift like I was talking about. Wednesday, we do see Yuma, Arizona coming close. Vegas
01:34set to break a previous record from 1944 and then tied back in 2001.
01:38Arizona, Arizona, California on the map for our record challenging highs for your Wednesday. We zoom out, look at the
01:45big picture. Hey, look at this.
01:47Texas, Texas, Oklahoma. We're in the 90s. It's been a minute, especially for places like Dallas, which speaking of taking
01:56a look at Dallas, 98 Friday, 98 Saturday, but it doesn't last.
02:00We get right back to the triple digits by the time we get to the end of the weekend and
02:04into next week.
02:05So I guess enjoy it while you can while that heat is temporarily shifted further west.
02:09We'll be right back to the end of the weekend and we'll be right back to the end of the
02:09weekend.
