00:00Three o'clock. Good to have you with us. We have a question and there's no right or wrong answer.
00:05This is a subjective matter. I leave it to you. But we wanted to kind of plant a flag today
00:12and
00:13see if today is the day we finally get to turn the page to football season. And you go, well,
00:18what kind of question is that? Well, the annoyance that is the baseball team that we have in this
00:25town, they just don't die. They just won't die. Every time you think they're dead, they go and
00:32do something stupid like beat a halfway decent team or, oh, look, now they're going to get six
00:38games against garbage. Well, one problem. You just had six games against garbage and you lost five of
00:44them in a row and you've lost eight out of nine and you are eight games under 500, seven games
00:51out of
00:52the division, which is now I think we can put that to bed, but you're three and a half out
00:57at a wild
00:57card and there are six teams ahead of you. My question is simple. Are you on to football season?
01:05Did the last week essentially end your care factor, your hope factor? All of it. Are you on to Cincinnati?
01:16As Belichick once said, you now go to football or is the other side of this?
01:23They're only three and a half out of the wild card and they've got what? I don't know,
01:29like 30 games left and all the teams in front of you stink. You stink too, but I leave it
01:36to you.
01:37See, this is why I stayed neutral the whole time. While every other host on this station was
01:43soaping up their loofah daily on their show, it's like, no, I'm going to sit here because I don't
01:48think this team's very good and I don't think they're very bad. They're just whatever. And look
01:53what happens. I'm not doing, I'm not going to allow this team to rollercoaster the end of my summer.
01:59So I'm sitting here today and it's like, I can't, I'm not going to write them off. I'm not on
02:05the
02:05football season yet. And I'm also not going to do the John Jansen, which is the next six game.
02:11I ain't doing that either. But Mike, the next six games are critical. And so are the six after
02:16that and the six after that and the six after that, man, it's like a 12 year old way of
02:20watching
02:20baseball. They're all critical. You stink. I mean, basically if you want to get yourself to 81 and
02:27maybe a 500 record would get this done, which is just pathetic, you got to go what 20 and 12
02:34the rest
02:34of the way. I don't know. Go and do it. But I would like to know if this week and
02:40specifically
02:41this weekend kind of ended it for you. I mean, that's embarrassing to go to Kansas city and get
02:47swept out. That's a team that's 25 games under 500. You had Salvatore Perez steal a base. Are you
02:54kidding me? He's like five in his entire career to six now that was, and he got a jump on
03:01that. Like
03:01he was Ricky Henderson standing ovation. That's why you can't play Valencia behind the plate. He
03:06has to be a DH, but what would that's not even worth getting into? It's the idea that in this
03:12town, I mean, just as recently as Friday, you had the free press writing hope pieces.
03:18It's unbelievable to me, even on the broadcast this weekend. And like I said, I just mute it quite
03:22often. I just don't want to be upset. I'd rather watch baseball. I don't want to hear any positives.
03:27You're getting swept out of Kansas city. Can it don't want to hear it. Don't need it. I don't
03:31think anybody does. I don't know who you're serving doing it. So just to me, you're sitting
03:36here at 61 and 69. You got 32 games left. What do you want to do? Are you on to
03:42football season
03:43or in your heart of hearts? Do you know this team's got one more little run just to toy
03:50with us? And I'll tell you Rico, I've said it to you. I never wrote them off. You didn't. I'm
03:55not
03:55doing it now because they're an annoyance. They are. They should have annoyance city
04:00connect jerseys. They're an annoyance because if the kindest thing they could do to us is
04:05just from a baseball sense, die, just lose, lose six more in a row. Be done. I was about
04:11to say, get swept by the rays. Just be done. I know they won't. I know they won't. They'll
04:16probably come out and win tonight. They'll sweep the race. That a baby. Just like they did
04:19in early June. Yeah. I'll say this. They do have another run in the mic and it coincides.
04:26It's perfectly the way it is aligned because I think that by the second week of September,
04:32they will be done. You know what also happens in the second week of September? Football starts
04:37for the NFL. Oh, they're going to hand that baton off like Olympic four by four relay team.
04:43And they're going to be, here you go. You can now have my attention with football. Baseball
04:48will be done because I do think they have one more run in them. They're not all the way
04:52out. They'll do just enough to tantalize. You're right. They'll take this series with
04:56the rays. And then you're like, okay, maybe we're not out. Trust me. I'm not willing to
05:03write them off in August, but come second week of September and you're still out at that point.
05:10Yeah. My focus is now going to be football. It's a bonus if you make it, but you now become
05:15official background. I just wondered if the last week, cause you even saw it. I felt bad.
05:20Usually Otto's got a little pep in his step. He likes the tigers more than he likes his own kids.
05:25He came in today and you could tell it killed him to get on the air in that update and
05:30say,
05:30the tigers are scuffling. There was a single tear running down his cheek. I just, I wondered if the
05:37last week, finally it ended it for people or it's like the native American and that trash had from
05:45back in the day, the one little tear sliding down. Single tear.
05:51I just, if you are a hardcore tigers fan, this, this past five games, especially against the Kansas
05:58city team, it was tough to stomach because you had just got to the point where you were technically
06:04in the playoffs. If the season ended today and then you fell backwards hard. And now you got about
06:11five, six teams ahead of you. If you want that final spot to four, eight, five, three, nine, 97, 97.
06:17And
06:17if you're onto football, I'm not mad at you in the least. I'm just still unwilling to write them off
06:25because they're a complete annoyance. They'll do something stupid, win a bunch of games against
06:30garbage. And they'll toy with you. And then you know what they'll do? Fly right back down the
06:35stairs. So I'm not going to write them off. But if you do, I totally get it. And this, oh
06:41dude,
06:41I mean, come on between the white socks series, the pirate series, the Royal series, it's just,
06:49they don't deserve to get in. That's the other part of this. Like we had a caller and I forget
06:54who,
06:54I forget the name. It was just, well, you seem like you're rooting against them. I'm not rooting
06:58against them, but I'll be damned if I'm rooting for them. They don't deserve to be in. You're
07:04130 games into the season. You're eight games under 500. You just got swept out of Kansas
07:08City. Why the hell am I rooting for good things to happen to you? Oh, but I mean, you got
07:13to play
07:14who you play. Okay, fine. Play the games. And while you don't apologize for being in the worst
07:18AL in history, if this was a regular year in the AL, you'd be 15 games under. It's just,
07:25it's, it's silly, but do I think they have another run? Yeah, I do. They do. Because
07:30they're Michael Myers. They're Jason Voorhees. You did. They just don't die.
07:35Bro, I mean, I can see this thing going all the way to the final series and they're a game
07:40and a half out. All while we're just enjoying football. Thanks a lot, guys. 248-539-9787.
07:48David, Paul, talk to me. Are we onto football or are you still just not ready to put the final
07:54shovel of dirt on them? No, I'm personally on to football. Football started for my family
07:59this weekend. That's what I focused on this weekend because the Tigers weren't showing
08:03me anything. And it was also... Housecast text NIL. No, not happening. It was also 55 degrees
08:11this morning when I left for my appointment. 55 degrees is fall weather. There was a chill
08:16football time. Okay, David, I told you in the break. You need to get the bad son and the
08:23good son out there battling each other in one-on-ones. There's a lot of NIL money out
08:28there. I personally witnessed it this weekend. You, as a father, get your stuff together.
08:35And that's why it's time to focus on football. If the Tigers were giving me something, I would
08:40be watching the Tigers. But I need to do that. It's football time.
08:43I mean, seriously, one-on-one drills for supper. The winner eats. The loser doesn't.
08:47Like a Hunger Games style parenting. Yes. I don't know if society would work on, would
08:53allow that. I bet it worked for Joe Jackson. It did not. 248-539-9797. David, some of the
09:01texts. We'll get to the callers in a moment. You are either, after the last week of Tiger
09:06baseball, on to football, you're done. Or, you're like me. The shovel is in hand. You
09:14have scooped the dirt. But you just can't, you can't lay the rose on the casket. Because
09:21you know, the minute you're ready to write this team off, they're gonna do some kazoo
09:27playing nonsense. You're gonna see a little heartbeat, the little blip machine. That's
09:34back. That's right. Then the freak will be sure to crank out seven or eight hope
09:38pieces. I'm ready for it. All of a sudden, the Tigers will sit up like the
09:42Undertaker. That's who they are. Who is the creep who held the urn? Paul Bearer.
09:49That's the Tigers. And your hope is the urn, and he's holding it. The kazoo. Yes. There's
09:59a kazoo in the urn. David. Text here says, I'm sick of riding the roller coaster. I have
10:05definitely moved on. Ready to lock in for the Lions football, and I've already bought
10:09my Pistons Celtics opening day ticket. I've moved on. Okay. Wow. There's one. Yes. Football
10:15time. I am sad about it, but we are on to football. They've given me nothing to keep
10:20watching. I love the Tigers, but after the Pittsburgh series and giving up two straight
10:25home runs to lose the game, I'm ready to turn the page and focus on football. You
10:30don't understand. The bullpunt's not as bad as it seems. Regards, Free Press. I was
10:35just, you know what? That was one show that I was like, man, I almost wish that I was here
10:40that day when I was off when they lost on two home runs. I'm like, wait, wait. Did you
10:47just lose this game this way? They did. Oh, my goodness. That became appointment
10:53listening. I was like, okay, Michael, entertain. Okay. David. Baseball season. When did the
10:58season start? It's someone tell the Tigers, I've been done for a while. Okay. Another
11:03one says, I'm writing them off. My version is moving onto football, fantasy football, and
11:08only watching box scores for the Tigers. That is Todd in Belleville. We'll see what the
11:13people have to say about this matter next.
