00:00I've got thoughts on our baseball team, our football team, our hockey team, and a couple
00:06quarterback battles in the NFL.
00:08Let's get started.
00:09You're the slob.
00:10You're the gross one.
00:11Baseball season is over in the city of Detroit.
00:15You woke up today.
00:16It was 55.
00:16Kind of felt like that.
00:17Chill in the air.
00:18We're switching gears to football mode.
00:21Our baseball team is eight games under 500.
00:23They've lost eight of nine.
00:25They had back-to-back innings with the bases loaded on Sunday.
00:28Zero outs and couldn't bust the game open.
00:30We are done with baseball.
00:32It is back to being background noise.
00:35Like we're not going to have football throughout the course of the week.
00:37So what's going to be on TV?
00:39The Tigers or Ted Lasso or whatever else you want to watch.
00:41Yeah, I'm all caught up.
00:42By the way, I'm actually, I like it.
00:45Yeah.
00:48For another day.
00:51But yeah, I mean, for all intensive purposes, it's over.
00:55They're still going to play the games and we could still watch individual
00:57players, but yeah, it is.
01:00It's gone back to being wallpaper.
01:02Okay.
01:03This is not an overreaction.
01:04They're 69 or 61 and 69.
01:07They're three and a half out of the wild card.
01:09They're two and eight in their last 10.
01:11They're seven back in the division.
01:12That's become a pipe dream for sure.
01:14This thing's over.
01:15They're going to flirt with our hearts one more time.
01:18I think you can book that, but they've made it in my mind, just
01:22mathematically impossible to get.
01:25I think 80 wins might do it this year.
01:27They're going to go 19 and 13.
01:29They might get a hot stretch.
01:30I think they will, but then they'll fall back down.
01:33The most consistency is going to kill them.
01:35The most Tigers thing ever.
01:37You, you play bad against the pirates.
01:39You play bad against the Royals.
01:41And then you, you create a little excitement against Tampa and the
01:45Dodgers.
01:46You went six and 28 in May and then you swept the raise at Tampa.
01:49And now they're playing the raise again after this horrible stretch.
01:51Do you believe the tigers will finish last in the American league
01:56central?
01:57Not crazy.
01:58After this weekend, the Royals swept them only three games back in
02:02the wind column.
02:03The tigers are still missing green and dinglers missing in action.
02:07Starters aren't as good.
02:09You need more bullpen days, which equals more ugly.
02:12They will finish last.
02:14So Kansas city's on a bit of a heater.
02:16And part of that is because they played the tigers.
02:18They're nine and one, they've won eight in a row.
02:21I just don't think they're in last right now for a reason.
02:26They have allowed 651 runs.
02:30It's pitching its defense.
02:32There's so many things compare that to where the tigers are.
02:35They've only allowed 514 runs.
02:37And we know the issue that they've have and are having with pitching,
02:41especially in the bullpen.
02:43And I think the status quo tigers finish second to last and Kansas city
02:48finishes in the bottom.
02:50Okay.
02:50I think this is an overreaction for right now.
02:52It is within four games of last place.
02:54Now, uh, John kind of hit it with the Royals being on a heater.
02:58They do kind of have kind of a difficult schedule coming up.
03:01A lot of playoff contenders.
03:03Well, probably to be expected, you know, but I know they play the guardians
03:06like six more times.
03:08I think water kind of finds it level with both teams here and the tigers
03:12stay out of last.
03:16Oh, quick bonus one on the tigers.
03:19Eduardo Valencia won't be on the team next year.
03:21They ran on him five times on Sunday, including Salvador Perez for crying
03:26out loud who there wasn't even a throw.
03:29Talk about slow pop time Perez with his first stolen base since 2021 and only
03:34the seventh of his career.
03:35Valencia can hit, but if you can't play the catcher position,
03:37defensively, you won't play.
03:39So yes, part of that was on Valencia.
03:42Part of that was on the pitcher because he's not checking, thinking that Perez
03:50isn't going to steal.
03:51Like that was one of the greatest jumps of all time.
03:54He was halfway to second before the pitcher even let go of the ball.
03:58So it's, it's, it's on both.
04:00I'm not going to sit there and say, but everyone's running on this dude.
04:04Yes.
04:04If he's on the team, it's for his bat.
04:07And it's to give Dylan Dingler a day off.
04:11I told you guys, this was a significant problem when they brought him up.
04:14Like he, he can be just run on at will.
04:16Yeah.
04:16So you said he won't be on the team.
04:18Yes.
04:18I think that's an overreaction because I can see a world with the roster next
04:22year where he's right-handed DH splitting.
04:24He can, he can platoon with Carpenter.
04:25Yeah.
04:27Panama, Panama.
04:30The Lions pass rush won't be a problem this season.
04:34You've seen it with Wanham and more in the preseason throw in Hassanine as well.
04:39The new additions plus Ali McNeil and Ty Leak taking big steps forward.
04:44You know, Aiden's Aiden.
04:46The Lions have done it against first teams, first team offenses in the preseason.
04:49John, it's not going to be an issue in the regular season.
04:52I believe that's the path they're on.
04:54I'm not ready to say it until I see it against legitimate offensive lines in
04:59regular season games.
05:00So I'm putting an asterisk by it.
05:03But if you have any type of production opposite Hutch on a consistent basis,
05:09and it doesn't have to be just DJ Wanham.
05:11It could be Derek Moore.
05:11It could be Hassanine.
05:12It could be all of those guys.
05:13And it could also be the fact that maybe Hutch doesn't have to play 95% of the
05:19play.
05:20So he's more effective when he is in there and the risk of injury goes down.
05:25Maybe his production goes up.
05:27But I also think this is a defensive line that is going to be able to do both.
05:32They're going to be able to be stout against the run and apply pressure on the
05:35quarterback.
05:36This is not an overreaction because I don't think there'll be a problem.
05:39I think at this point,
05:40and I'm confident with the amount of bodies they have in depth that they're
05:43going to be able to hold their own and at least be an average defensive line.
05:47I think the defense is going to have bigger issues than the defensive line.
05:53The Lions have a backup quarterback problem.
05:56And I say this and I realize I am making a big deal out of one play,
05:59but one play really bothered me.
06:01You're a 10 year vet throwing back across the middle of the field.
06:04I'm talking about Dobbs interception.
06:06Do we need to call Jimmy G?
06:07Is Andy Dalton going to get cut?
06:10I don't think,
06:11I mean,
06:11I think there's probably about 30 teams that have a backup quarterback issue.
06:16I'm not going to sit there and it wasn't a bad decision.
06:18Sure.
06:19But we see veteran quarterbacks get a little bit full of themselves,
06:23a little overconfident,
06:24want to make a play,
06:25especially for a guy that's only been here for a short period of time,
06:27wants to do something.
06:30Bad decision.
06:31But I don't think they have a,
06:32you know,
06:33I'm not going to sit there and say they got a backup problem any more than
06:35anyone else does.
06:36You know,
06:37every team has backup.
06:39That's why they're backups.
06:41This is not an overreaction in my mind.
06:43I'll say this right now.
06:45We'll make a bold prediction.
06:47The Lions backup quarterback is not on the roster right now,
06:50and they will get somebody once cuts happen.
06:54Circle,
06:55proper thickness and length.
06:57Circle Philly for that,
06:58because they have hurts.
07:00They have Tanner McKee,
07:01who John really likes.
07:02And then Andy Dalton's their third QB.
07:03Are they keeping three?
07:04That'd be one spot to look.
07:07Yeah.
07:08The red rifle.
07:09They're keeping McKee.
07:12Yeah.
07:12So then Dalton becomes an option.
07:15Yeah.
07:15You know what big red?
07:16Think about how Vilenny will react.
07:19He despises redheaded quarterbacks.
07:23All right.
07:23Next up.
07:25Moe Sider will be wearing the C,
07:27even with Dylan Larkin on the roster.
07:30Quotes from over the weekend.
07:31Sider owning up to mistakes,
07:33rallying the troops,
07:34acting like the face of the team,
07:36and saying,
07:37we're better with Larkin on this team.
07:39Johnny's their best player.
07:40He will be here long-term.
07:42Larkin could stay,
07:42but not as the captain,
07:43and Sider steps into the leadership role.
07:46I don't see him making that move.
07:48I think the only way that Dylan Larkin
07:50isn't wearing the C
07:51is if he's traded at the deadline,
07:54and then they promote Moe Sider to wear the C.
07:56He may be acting as captain,
07:59but I think Dylan Larkin still has the C.
08:02Overreaction.
08:02Yeah, I think there's overreaction, too.
08:03I think if they're going to mend the fences here
08:06and he's coming back,
08:07he's going to wear the C
08:08because I just feel like there's kind of a...
08:10They're going to be all in unison.
08:12We're moving forward.
08:14Dylan Larkin is our leader.
08:16Do me.
08:17The Browns can't start Deshaun Watson.
08:20He's a bad QB and a bad person.
08:225-12 for 36 yards
08:24and an interception on a bad read
08:26and a double coverage.
08:27I don't care if it was tipped.
08:28He shouldn't have thrown the football.
08:30But then after the game,
08:31he's talking about the fans are disrespecting me.
08:33First of all,
08:34your play is enough for them not to like you.
08:36We don't even need to get into the fact
08:37that you were suspended
08:39for allegedly sexually assaulting people.
08:43Not an overreaction.
08:45The Browns certainly can't start Deshaun Watson.
08:47The only way he comes into a game
08:49is if Shadur Sanders...
08:51It's not even if Shadur Sanders plays bad.
08:54He's going to have games where he plays bad.
08:56He has to be hurt.
08:57I don't think there's any way,
08:59even though they're paying him a King's ransom,
09:03he is not going to be playing for the Browns.
09:05And I have Browns fans.
09:07I know it's uncharacteristic of me.
09:12Well, let's just say,
09:13I have people in my life that are Browns fans.
09:16And they refuse.
09:18They have stepped away.
09:19From being Browns fans
09:22while Deshaun Watson is on the team.
09:24And they did that when they signed him.
09:27And there's been a lot that's going on since then.
09:30And I don't think there's any way
09:32that they can start Deshaun Watson.
09:34This is not an overreaction.
09:36This thing's escalating out of control quickly.
09:39The Browns are appearing that they're out of touch
09:42with their fan base at this point.
09:44This is one of the worst trades in the history of sports.
09:47And it's time for Jimmy Haslam to step in and pull a Tom Gorse
09:51and just pay the guy to go away like he did with Williams.
09:56They were out of touch when they traded for him.
09:59And then gave him all that money.
10:00A week after he was, you know, after the charges were dropped,
10:06they consummated this trade.
10:09Three first-round picks for a guy that no one wanted.
10:14Yeah, it's just, I don't know what they were thinking then.
10:17And they act like they're not thinking now.
10:19I will say this.
10:20I said that there will be quarterbacks cut
10:23that the Lions would get there as their backup.
10:25He's not the guy.
10:26No.
10:27Thank you, yes.
10:29It says, Mew, J.J. McCarthy won't even be the backup for the Vikings.
10:33He had a 50-yard bomb everyone's going to ooh and ah about over the weekend.
10:36He also missed multiple throws in the red zone.
10:38If they have an injury at quarterback,
10:41Carson Wentz will be playing because they want to win.
10:44Yes.
10:45I don't think there's any question about that.
10:47If they want to win, and I got a lot of respect for their coaching staff.
10:51I've talked about that.
10:52Kevin O'Connell is one of, I think, one of the great offensive minds.
10:56And there's just no way.
10:59When you watch him play, the decisions that he makes,
11:03you're always going to have that one where you're like,
11:06wow, that is why they drafted him.
11:09There's always that one mesmerizing play,
11:11but it's followed up by three or four that you're like,
11:14what the hell are you doing?
11:16This is not an overreaction.
11:17I do think it would be Wentz will be the backup.
11:20The question is, is do they keep JJ?
11:23Or do they cut him?
11:24Would he be one of the surprising?
11:26I wouldn't be surprised if he cuts,
11:27but I think the league would, the media would act that way nationally.
11:30Oh my gosh, they cut the guy after two years.
11:32Well, I think they tried to flip him for a pick,
11:33even if it was a late pick.
11:34And let me just say this.
11:35I wouldn't, Lions are looking for a backup quarterback.
11:37I need someone I can plug in in a big spot and win me a game.
11:40I don't trust him.
11:41You don't want nine here?
11:43Nine.
11:43Is nine, is that jersey number available here?
11:45No, J-Mo wears nine.
11:47Oh yeah, that's right.
11:48I'm thinking one, right?
11:51No, he is one.
11:51No, he gave up nine to wear one.
11:53You're right.
11:54So do we have a number nine?
11:56I don't know.
11:58I'll look it up in the brain.
11:59All right, please.
12:00The audience needs to know.
12:02Yes.
12:04All right.
12:04Those are your overreaction's 97.1.
