00:00Good morning and a Victory Monday starts right now. Jim Costa, John Jansen, Heather Park,
00:07Gov and Greg behind the glass. Now that is more like it. That's Detroit Lions football.
00:13I recognize that. Yeah, it seems familiar and it's much better to do this show and this
00:20show over the next two weeks. Now it doesn't, you know, it certainly wasn't perfect, but
00:25that is much more of what we should be accustomed to on a week in week out basis. Offense scoring
00:33on seven straight drives, defense forcing five, three and outs in a row. And it's at a time when
00:39the offense is scoring those. So you, you get a team off the field offense right back on and you
00:44are continuing to dominate on both sides of the ball. I say it's familiar because I got some shades
00:50of 2024, you know, where you're just pouring it on where as a fan, you can kick your feet
00:58up, right? The fourth quarter was irrelevant. They had handled their business and John, they
01:04went for the jugular. This wasn't like week one with a big lead where they let the opponent
01:06back in the game or the Jets game that still came down to the last possession. This was
01:11vintage Dan Campbell salty with us kicking everybody's ass during the week and then we
01:16can kick our feet up on Sunday. Well, and I love the fact that he, I mean, he talked
01:20about this. We'll play it throughout the course of the show. He put a lot of pressure on the
01:24players. Players responded. He addressed it in the post game press conference. And the
01:29fact that he did that with us on Tuesday, he wanted somebody to say they want Trey McBride.
01:35We heard it from, uh, we've heard from Scotty Montgomery in terms of what JMO was doing.
01:42And finally, JMO, nice couple of catches, those explosive plays that that shows you how
01:46impactful they are. That game could have been the new Orleans game. Yes. Could have been
01:54part of the Carolina game because you have those explosive plays to JMO that he catches.
02:01And, and then you have, uh, you know, Kelvin Shepard and what he had talked about. Those
02:11can relitigate that. I don't know that we need to, but he applied pressure to his players
02:18by not calling any individual player out, but he applied pressure publicly and, you know,
02:24behind the scenes, they were applying pressure to every single guy, all 53 that are on that
02:30roster. Well, that's the first thing Dan Campbell said before I even finished my question. He's
02:34like, look, what you guys hear is not what the team's going to hear. Right. And I read into
02:37that as, Oh, this is the tame version. We're going to have some uncomfortable conversations.
02:43Yep. And by all accounts, they had some very uncomfortable conversations this week, but
02:46John, that is, we left that interview feeling good. You know, I know other people thought,
02:50Oh, it's desperation. I told you, I love that he's fired up because we've seen this before.
02:55While he didn't cite moldy bread, that was salty Dan Campbell. Who's going to go kick his
03:00team's ass and say, this is not okay. We're not letting one become two. We're going to our
03:05bye week and it's, we're not going down like this. Yeah. We're not going in two and three.
03:09We're going in three and two and we're going in with maybe the best performance in some
03:14time. Not, not just this year. It's clearly the best performance this year. Oh yeah. I
03:18mean, definitely this year, last year they had a 50 burger against the bears. They had
03:23the 44 on, was that Jerry's birthday? Yes. Um, which was awesome. Awesome. But, but the
03:31last year it was fleeting and it will remain to be seen if, if these are just, it was
03:35this just a bad team that they were performing against. But this was more like the team we
03:40saw week in and week out in 2024. And while I'm certainly not telling people this morning,
03:45congrats, we took it all the way back to 24 and we're going to win 15 games. They have
03:49to do that a dozen more times for it to actually be 24. But I got some of those vibes
03:53and I
03:54like that. Like, I know we're going to get some phone calls and texts immediately pushing
03:57back saying guys, it's the Cardinals. Okay. You're right. But that I liked seeing that
04:03that team is still in there somewhere. And John, they, they made a bad team look bad.
04:07That's what you're, that's what you want to do in a spotlight. I don't even want to say
04:10you're supposed to, you're not supposed to win by 24 points in the NFL. They made it look
04:14ugly. And it was offensively. I don't know how to describe the double reverse pass back to
04:23golf past a Jameer Gibbs, but there was a little razzle dazzle. Like it kind of took you
04:29back to shades of Ben Johnson and some of the things now. Okay. We can also talk about
04:35Ben Johnson and his offense. That's does he miss Dan Campbell 248? No, he's got a backup
04:41quarterback. I know. Yeah. Oh, I will get to that later. I have comments on that. But
04:47when you look at what they were doing offensively, you had wide receivers or tight ends wide open,
04:55easy for Jared golf. Now we can also have a conversation about Jared golf, 12 touchdowns,
04:59no interceptions through five games. Like he is having his best season. And I, I, I started
05:05talking about that week three, even though week four was, it was a very laborious week simply
05:13because it was again, the defense that couldn't perform, but offensively they haven't had, this
05:19was their breakout performance. And we could look at it and say, okay, well it is, they didn't
05:23have Will Johnson. They didn't have, but they didn't do this against Carolina when they were
05:27down their top two corners. This was the breakout performance. And it felt like they found their
05:33rhythm rhythm with drew petzing. They, they got their confidence going, but all along Jared
05:39golf has given them this opportunity. What's funny. So they found the rhythm. They scored 45
05:44points and really it's, it's in only three quarters. Cause they were so sloppy to start the game.
05:49They spot on the first quarter where they had negative nine yards on nine plays. And yet this
05:55is still the, the, the dominant offensive performance we had been craving. They got
05:59everybody involved, right? It's, it's Laporta on not one, but several fourth downs. Jamo as
06:04a field stretcher, everybody in their role Gibbs quietly 200 all purpose yards, you know,
06:11in the fourth downs, that's the hallmark of who this team is. They don't flinch. They don't
06:14blink. They were perfect. They converted all four fourth down attempts, including a couple
06:18for touchdowns. Did you hear Stoney in your head in the fourth quarter? Yeah, I did too. Um, and it
06:25was at that time, what they were up 38, 21, um, could have even been 38, 14. Why is Jameer
06:32Gibbs
06:33still in the game? Put him in bubble? Why is Amon Ross St. Brown still catching the ball? Why is
06:38golf under center? Right. All of those different things. I, I had, I had voices in my head and,
06:43and not mine this time. Um, and so it just was, it was one of those games where it felt
06:51like offensively, once you got out of the first quarter and they did find their footing
06:55and they did find their footing on the road, I kind of feel like, okay, the Drew Petsing
07:02offense is installed. They're comfortable. We're going to get Cade Mays back. And I, I would
07:09like to see juice Scruggs get every opportunity at guard other than that first quarter where
07:15there was a couple of miscommunications and blitz pickup. I thought he has done a really
07:20good job, solid job through five weeks. We will see if this is more than a mirage, right?
07:28They were in the desert. We got to see them show they can tap into this and harness this
07:32more often. But boy, was that exactly what we wanted to see going into the bi-week? Well,
07:37I love the confidence going into the bi-week, but also going into your first couple of division
07:42games. Green Bay, when you return and Minnesota, right after that, I'm looking down at some
07:48texts. It says that was chicken soup for the lion's soul. That's a perfect text. Uh, Joe
07:53in Southfield says, guys, it's only one of 17 games and it was expected. They were expected
07:58to win by 24 points. I must've missed all those phone calls on Friday. They were expected
08:01to win this game by 24 points. Yeah. Yeah. You didn't even disco this one. Did you feel
08:05like it's a missed opportunity? One week late. Just cause not dead. It's just a little
08:10off right now. Yeah. Uh, all right. It's Arizona. Good win expected. Hopefully this gets them
08:14right for the Packers out of the bi-week. Now this says it was empty calories. It's not
08:19a good sign. We keep starting slow. We have a rude awakening. We play good teams. Jonesy
08:23in a car. All right. I'm not going to be the wet blanket right now, but I did have that
08:27feeling as well. And I'm sure a lot of other people did as that game was beginning because
08:32Arizona is up seven, nothing you're three and out three and out three and out. And it's
08:38a total of minus nine yards in the first quarter. Like, yeah, that, that is the definite. That's
08:45not even a definition of starting slow. That's the definition of starting backwards in reverse.
08:49Yeah. Uh, great win. I'm feeling for Dan Miller right now, but I hope this doesn't change Brad's
08:53outlook on adding in the secondary because we played bad receivers, uh, and that made us look
08:59decent. Well, you didn't face a, a combination of really good receivers, but correct me if
09:09I'm wrong. Trey McBride is maybe the most productive, if not one of the top two tight
09:14ends in the NFL. Yeah. Okay. Bowers. Yep. And, and Michael Wilson had, had a really good season
09:23up until this point. Now then last year too. Yeah. Yeah. So look, I've, I know we're
09:29going to battle this for just shy of the next four hours. It's Arizona. Cool. If they had
09:35won by a field goal or if they had won by a touchdown or if they'd won on a two
09:38point
09:38conversion, like they did in week one, you know, what kind of radio you'd be getting
09:41for me? I'd be saying, eh, they won by 24 points. They, they got, what was it? John five
09:49straight three and outs as a part of seven straight stops by this defense. The offense
09:54went seven straight drives with touchdowns, including six touchdowns. Yeah. It was, it
09:59was five three and outs. And then on the one where they didn't get the three and out, it
10:02was an interception. Yeah. It was dominant. And for one night, one day, nobody's forecasting
10:08that they have won the division, that the Superbowl is, you know, ours, anything like
10:13that. Just yesterday was great. That's exactly what we wanted to see. And on Dan Miller, you
10:18know, we, we have some thoughts we want to share. Obviously we know that's really tough
10:21for Dan. Jared Goff shared thoughts after the game. Dan Campbell shared thoughts after
10:26the game. We'll get into all of that next. It's 97 one.
