00:00800-636-1067 is the number.
00:03On Mondays after a football game in any major market,
00:06you don't overcomplicate sports radio and take calls.
00:09So let's go ahead and get to the phones.
00:11And we will start this hour with Shane in Fairfax.
00:14Hold on, let me get this here.
00:16I've got to click this.
00:17I know you guys can put him up.
00:19There we go.
00:19You put him up.
00:20Shane, good morning, sir.
00:22How are you doing?
00:23Talk to us.
00:24Good morning, Dave.
00:25Morning, B. Mitch.
00:26Hey, B. Mitch, have safe travels on the way back, my friend.
00:29Appreciate you.
00:30Hey, look, this is not a good – I mean, defensive, it's much improved.
00:34That defensive, I'm like you.
00:36There is some talent on this field.
00:37You can see it.
00:38But we've got to put it together.
00:40And injuries right now is the biggest thing right now.
00:43I think the season will be different.
00:45But it's the whole line, too.
00:46That offensive line is just – it's a question mark right now.
00:52And Buckner, he just – I mean, they push us around.
00:56And even when J.D. comes back, is he going to be the answer?
01:00He's going to be out there running through his line.
01:01I mean, it's called what it is.
01:03And we need that – we need a pure running back that is a pure bell cow,
01:10if you will.
01:10And we still have that.
01:12So, when we pick in the top five next year, which we're going to,
01:15it's called what it is, what's going to be –
01:17I know, B. Mitch, you don't want to talk about drafts and all that.
01:19It's called what it is.
01:20I don't.
01:21It's too damn early to talk about that, Shane.
01:23It's too damn early to talk about that.
01:26Shane, Shane, we're not talking about draft.
01:27But I will say this, you're right,
01:29that even though running back has become passe sort of in the NFL,
01:32if you don't have a guy that scares people, it's not fun.
01:36And the commanders don't have anybody who scares anyone.
01:39But the thing of it, though, Dave, if you had an offensive line,
01:42you have some people scared.
01:44Until those guys up front block well,
01:46you put that group in front of Jonathan Taylor,
01:48he's not going to have the same game he had yesterday.
01:50Understood.
01:51But Taylor's a notch above.
01:54Walker is a notch above.
01:56That was a great purchase by the Chiefs.
01:58Saquon Barkley's a notch above, although he got hurt yesterday.
02:01You have just generic backs.
02:03You're going to have a generic running game.
02:05It's weird because the NFL has gone away from caring about running backs,
02:10and yet they're still important.
02:12But I've been talking about it for the longest, about running the ball.
02:15Everybody always wants the receivers,
02:17quite a bit want to throw the ball around.
02:18See, this is the thing.
02:19I know people like to say, right now I want to run it back.
02:22We start running the ball and don't throw the ball at all.
02:25That flips the same people be complaining.
02:29Okay.
02:29I know that for a fact.
02:31Let's go to Carl in Upper Marlboro.
02:34You are next up on B. Mitch and Finley.
02:36Good morning, Carl.
02:38What's up, Jop and Dave?
02:40What's up, B. Mitch?
02:41What's up, brother?
02:42I'll preface this by saying I'm the forever optimist.
02:44It takes a lot for me to lose hope.
02:46But I'm still optimistic for the Commanders.
02:49One and three is exactly where I had them after four weeks.
02:51We got the unexpected win against the Seahawks.
02:54Lost one that we shouldn't have lost against Indianapolis.
02:57But we're still one and three, which is exactly where I had them.
03:00Now, they've got to win this next game coming up against the Giants,
03:03an improved Giants team, but also without their starting quarterback.
03:07Now, after that, I had the Commanders possibly winning their last nine games
03:11of the season.
03:12Get a win against the Giants.
03:14Maybe get a win against the Eagles at home.
03:16But you can possibly win those last nine games because you have the Giants,
03:21Bengals, Cardinals, Titans, Texans, Falcons, Vikings.
03:25Now, the Jaguars might be a good team at that point.
03:27And then you end at home against the Commanders.
03:29I'm still optimistic, but you've got to fix the penalties pre-snap
03:33and the ones that eliminate touchdowns.
03:34And you've got to get J.D. 5, Terry McLaurin, and guys like Nick Cross
03:39back healthy.
03:40Have you thought about opening Carl's Kool-Aid up there in Upper Marlboro?
03:46Because that is some strong.
03:47If you're drinking it, remember that sound?
03:49That is some strong drizzank that you got going.
03:52Winning nine in a row.
03:54But God bless you, Carl.
03:55Thanks.
03:56That's what you've got to have.
03:57You've got to have some optimism.
03:58You know who's drinking that purple drizzank?
04:00Walker.
04:01Walker says,
04:02Hey, I was feeling the drink a little bit, too.
04:04I can't lie.
04:06I can't lie.
04:06You know, all those quote-unquote bad teams he listed,
04:09they're all professional teams.
04:11They have professionals on them.
04:14And professional coaches.
04:14But this is the thing.
04:15Like, I would ask the question to the people who,
04:18just like Shane, too.
04:20What did you think the record was going to be after the first three games?
04:23The first four games?
04:24I want a legitimate thing.
04:25Right.
04:25Because, like, it's hard for me to...
04:26One and three is par.
04:27I thought two and two would have been great.
04:30One and three was probably what they were going to be.
04:33So that's why I'm still, like, not over there where I'm losing my mind.
04:38But if you thought it was going to be three and one, four and oh,
04:40then I think you need to rethink your thinking.
04:43Yeah.
04:43Hey, look.
04:44When they lost to the Cowboys,
04:46at least they didn't let CeeDee Lamb go off for 17 catches
04:50and the game-winning touchdown like he did yesterday.
04:52Lord have mercy.
04:54Let's go to Mike in Hyattsville.
04:55You are next up on Be Mitch in Finley.
04:57Good morning, Mike.
04:59Good morning, gentlemen.
05:00How are you doing, man?
05:01Doing good, brother.
05:03Yeah.
05:03Honestly, I agree with the last call.
05:06I think there's a lot of reasons to be hopeful.
05:09We're getting a lot of guys back against the Giants.
05:12I mean, it's a lot to add for a third stringer to carry us out to a win
05:18after, you know, Mario that just had a great game in Seattle
05:21and he goes out.
05:22I do believe in holding people accountable.
05:25I love AP.
05:26I don't think that the season is lost,
05:28but I do believe that he mismanaged the center situation.
05:32To bench Nick Allegretti, you know,
05:35he comes off kind of as a little know-it-all.
05:38I still love AP, but we as fans, of course,
05:42we're going to have concern because, look, we're now in week four
05:45and you bench Allegretti for Lucas Patrick.
05:47When we've been begging you, hey, find a great center.
05:51Find a better alternative.
05:53All for you to just put him on the bench.
05:55I don't think that's – I think that's fair.
05:57But other than that, like the last caller said, yeah,
06:01I think we can rip off like nine in a row or seven of the last nine
06:05or whatever.
06:06Y'all may be it.
06:07The season's not over.
06:08Yeah.
06:09Thank God, Mitch, these guys are not saying this in front of coaches.
06:12Coaches would rip callers' heads off if they said nine in a row
06:16because what do coaches only say all the time?
06:18One.
06:19Looking at one.
06:20One game.
06:20But Lucas Patrick hasn't played awful.
06:23Right.
06:23I think Goldman had a bad game yesterday at guard.
06:26Sure.
06:27I don't think Patrick had a bad game.
06:29So Patrick being at center and I think probably Allegretti at the guard
06:32might have been a better play.
06:34But I think Goldman, he was getting ran through, bro.
06:38Yeah.
06:38They're also not the only team with all-line troubles around the league.
06:42There are a lot of teams that are scrambling right now.
06:44Let's go to Kevin.
06:45You are next up this morning on B, Mitch, and Finley.
06:47Good morning, Kevin.
06:50Oh, hold on a second.
06:51Didn't hit.
06:52Let's go to M.
06:54Oh, sorry.
06:55Oh, I'm taking guys that are not prepped yet.
06:58Let me go ahead and put that guy on hold.
07:01There you go.
07:03Isn't it fun when El Baldo gets his hands on the machine here?
07:11All right.
07:12Hold on a second.
07:13Let me get this sorted out.
07:14Do you, Mitch?
07:14Stand by for a second.
07:16I have now completely screwed up the entire software for the calls.
07:21This walker's coming in.
07:23I was hitting the play to put him on the air.

07:40The poll question today is on the B, Mitch, and Finley Twitter feed.
07:47Clary, I don't have it in front of me.
07:49Now he's on the phone right now, so I can't even get that.
07:52Everything is going great.
07:53All right.
07:54All right.
07:55Let's go to Charlie in College Park.
07:58There you go.
07:58Charlie in College Park.
08:00Good morning, sir.
08:01How are you?
08:02Can you hear me?
08:02Can you hear me?
08:03Yes, sir.
08:04I got you.
08:04Great.
08:05Good morning.
08:06Beautiful day.
08:07I got three or four quick observations.
08:09You know, I told you and JP last week that this team plays zone defense.
08:14If they do not get a pass rush or heavy pressure, that secondary is going to get riddled,
08:19and they did again yesterday in vital situations.
08:21Number two, what are the officials doing?
08:24I don't know how many passing offenses there were against Minneapolis.
08:27And one call particularly, by TV anyway, the official was right in front of those guys.
08:35No call.
08:37Okay?
08:38Another thing.
08:39Stupid penalty.
08:40So many times were they penalized yesterday.
08:42Again, a touchdown callback.
08:43Two weeks in a row, a touchdown callback.
08:46Mm-hmm.
08:47Actually, bro, yeah, two.
08:49Why did they get rid of Austin Eckler in the first place?
08:51I hated that when they did it.
08:53Well, they didn't get rid of him.
08:54He had to kill us.
08:54He got hurt.
08:55He was hurt for the season.
08:56Well, guess what?
08:57He's not hurt now.
08:58He's like you, B-Mitch.
08:59And that's why they brought him back, because he's not hurt now.
09:02By the way, I love the fact that Eckler's back.
09:05And, you know, that's the thing about the NFL.
09:07You get hurt, and you kind of disappear, and nobody really thinks about you.
09:10But, like, that guy, he's not top-shelf special,
09:14but he looked like he can give you something this year.
09:17He's a professional.
09:18Absolutely.
09:19He's always ready.
09:20And, like, you know, some people work out when they're getting ready for something.
09:24The dude work out because he got up.
09:27Yeah, he likes it because he lives for it.
09:29Yeah, he's a workout freak.
09:30Let's go to Joe in Woodbridge.
09:32You are next up, B-Mitch and Finley.
09:33Hello, Joe.
09:35Hey, good morning, guys.
09:37My only comment is, you know, I've been hearing a lot of people blame the defense.
09:42And I think yesterday our defense was balling until Mariota got hurt.
09:47You know what I mean?
09:48Yeah.
09:49And if the offense going three and out, you know, we did score that quick touchdown,
09:53but our defense was just on the field too long.
09:56You know, people were saying, oh, they can't stop nobody.
09:58Yes, they can.
09:59But the offense has got to help them out.
10:01That's my comment.
10:03All right, man.
10:04I think, Mike, when you start looking at stats, and stats don't tell all the story,
10:07but Daniel Jones, 19 to 34 for 143 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception.
10:13He was sacked twice.
10:15Jonathan Taylor had a game.
10:16He had 4.8 yards to carry.
10:17The thing over under this week going into the game was 90, 89 or 90 yards.
10:22They almost kept him under that.
10:24I believe, just like they call it stated, if Marietta doesn't get hurt and they are moving the ball down
10:30the field,
10:31that defense comes in a little fresher, and I don't see this game going like it did.
10:35But, you know, the game, you lost the game, and you move forward.
10:40But, ultimately, it ain't over.
10:43Let's go to Robert.
10:44You are next up, B. Mitch and Finley.
10:45Hello, Robert.
10:47Good morning, gentlemen.
10:48It's fine Monday morning.
10:49Good morning, B. Mitch, future Hall of Famer.
10:51Appreciate you, bro.
10:52J.P., Scott, you've got some of the best to ever do it, man.
10:55I listen to a lot of sports radio.
10:57Loves hearing you.
10:59Look, man, I have this team at 2-2 at this point, beating the Philadelphia Eagles and the Colts.
11:04We never beat back, so that was a loss.
11:07And I didn't see us beating Seattle, obviously.
11:09It's hard for me to come down on Dan Quinn, all these players yesterday, for that loss.
11:13But here is one problem that I have, and it's not just Dan Quinn.
11:16It permeates throughout the NFL with these coaches.
11:18These coaches are being kind of stupid now, not understanding what the fascination is
11:24with going forward on fourth down.
11:26You're on your own size of 50.
11:28You have all the momentum.
11:29Your defense is playing lights out.
11:31You have a backup quarterback who, according to everybody, doesn't take snaps in practice.
11:36And you come in, you run it up the middle into their strongest part of Indianapolis' defense.
11:41That was momentum changing.
11:43Why do coaches, the B. Mitch, you played around this team.
11:47I mean, a number of coaches, Kluviak did it yesterday with the Raiders and the Chiefs.
11:53Why do you forego points in field position and thinking that's the right idea?
11:57It's the dumbest thing.
11:58I saw Philly do it.
12:00So, on that fourth down call.
12:01I think it's the dumbest thing when it doesn't work.
12:03But if it works, it's not the dumbest thing.
12:05I look at that situation yesterday where he decided to go for it.
12:09Hold on.
12:09Let me just ask, Robert, were you more offended at the position on the field at the minus 46 that
12:15he went for it or the play called with your QB3 and your RB3?
12:20I was upset where you were located and the fact that you're telling me that you have a quarterback who
12:25has not played with this team, has not done the cadence, and instead of pinning a team down and Daniel
12:31Jones is throwing interceptions and turnovers, your defense is playing well.
12:35You don't have J.D. 5 out there or Mariota.
12:38Okay.
12:38Fair point.
12:39I just wanted to clarify that.
12:40B. Mitch, go ahead.
12:41I just think, like, at the minus 46, you go for it.
12:45You go for it.
12:45And if it works, everybody talk about a genius.
12:48But the thing of it for me is you go for it with the people that are on the field.
12:53And it ain't just about the QB3, QBR, or running back three.
12:57It's about O-line.
12:59If they get off the damn ball and block somebody, maybe you get first down.
13:03The whole thing for me is, like, people can knock things when it doesn't work.
13:082024, everybody was talking about how great it was when he went for every damn thing.
