00:00We're extremely excited to have Sam Cosby join the program.
00:03Sammy, what's up, dude?
00:05Not much. Excited to be here.
00:07How's camp going?
00:08Going really well. It's been good.
00:11I feel like I've been putting a really good camp together.
00:13I think the offense has been doing really well as well.
00:17Jaden's been able to find his stride for sure with this new offense.
00:23What do you think of the new offense?
00:25I know you like running the ball.
00:26I do. I just like being balanced.
00:28I think being able to run the ball allows play action and keeps defenses on their toes.
00:36Not getting teed off every play and drop back protection is not the most engaging thing for O-linemen.
00:47So it's nice to have a more balanced offense.
00:52For sure.
00:54When you look at the differences, do you think this one has a better chance where they won't know what's
01:00happening?
01:00Oh, yeah.
01:01Yeah, there's a – I mean, especially with play action, like when the D linemen don't know if it's a
01:08run or a pass
01:09or they're assuming it's a run and you just lock onto them and they're like, oh, crap, it's a pass.
01:14And then they try to have him get in a pass.
01:16It's over by the time the ball should be out, you know.
01:18So it's nice to – it's nice to have that element to the game.
01:24With the offense specifically, how different – like how different is it for the line?
01:30Like marrying up the run of the pass, being balanced, all that stuff.
01:33But, like, does your job change?
01:37I mean, there's just – there's different things, different rules and protections and IDs and run.
01:48But nothing crazy, especially being under center.
01:52There's certain looks that might be janky that you can have, like, little rules to help with.
02:00But for the most part, like, it's pretty cut and dry.
02:04What about the movement?
02:06Like, Jayden's running a lot of boots.
02:08Does that change what the O-line has to do?
02:12Not necessarily.
02:13The movement across the ball, from what I've heard from our D line and linebackers,
02:20they don't really like it a lot because they're trying to balance up the formation in doing that.
02:27So, that pre-snap movement, even, like, during the snap as well, they're not the biggest fan of that.
02:35So, it definitely brings an aspect of, you know, disguising things and doing that type of stuff that, you know,
02:43makes it difficult with the defense.
02:45Well, I play with Coach Gibbs and also Coach Reed where everything they did was trying to give their offense
02:50just a little bit more of an advantage.
02:52Do you feel like the move, like, defense don't like it because they don't know what you're running just yet?
02:58Yeah.
02:58All that stuff gives you all that little bit of an advantage?
03:01For sure.
03:02Just being able to, there's sometimes the D lines, like, you know, they get out of their gap because of
03:08it.
03:08Like, one guy sees it, one guy doesn't, and then they're messed up alignment-wise.
03:14So, that itself can cause, you know, the defense to split in two.
03:21With the install, like, how close do you think you guys are to the finished product of this offense?
03:27Are you still learning new stuff, like, every day, every week?
03:32We're pretty much all installed.
03:35Like, everything now is just, like, little tweaks, you know?
03:40Like, it's nothing crazy.
03:42Like, we're not installing plays anymore.
03:43It's just, like, tag onwards that makes certain plays, especially in the run game,
03:50where a tight end might be doing something else or, you know,
03:53the wide receiver might be coming into the box to crack somebody or do something like that.
03:58But for the most part, I mean, our offense is pretty much installed.
04:02There you go.
04:05This is a tough one.
04:06What was it like losing Laramie?
04:09Yeah, it was, like, a shock.
04:10It, like, didn't feel real.
04:14I don't know how to explain it like that.
04:16You know what I'm saying?
04:16Like, you know, like a guy of that caliber that is such a pillar that, you know,
04:26he's a leader just the way his presence is and how he carries himself.
04:29And he's a pro of pros.
04:31I mean, he's been doing this for now going on 11 years.
04:34And an injury like that you just don't expect.
04:36In a random one-on-one.
04:38In a random one-on-one, yeah.
04:40I mean, that's the lovely aspect of football.
04:43I mean, it's just, you just never know.
04:46And so losing him definitely sucked.
04:49But I'm really, I've been saying it this whole week,
04:52and I'm looking forward to the ability for, you know,
04:56Brandon to step in that role again.
04:58He did it in 24, and I think he did a really good job.
05:02And, you know, he's two years removed from that, but, like, he's matured.
05:07He's a smart player, strong, very athletic, has all the measurables to play that position.
05:14So, from that standpoint, I mean, this is a really good opportunity for him.
05:19We always talk about the differences in playing a left tackle or playing another position.
05:24Brandon played left tackle in 2024.
05:262024 played it very well, I felt, moved inside, and things didn't seem to work the same way.
05:31What is that?
05:32Like, some guys just can do it outside better than other guys do inside.
05:36Yeah, no, it's a little different.
05:39I mean, the caliber of player that you're playing, too, I mean, the body type is different.
05:44So, you know, I had to do it.
05:47I went from tackle to guard, and guard fit me better than tackle did, and, you know, and I stuck
05:53there.
05:54So, it just all depends, and then what system you're in, and there's all sorts of different factors that play
06:00into that.
06:01So, but for the most part, for him, he is very talented and gifted at the same time.
06:09So, I'm excited for his opportunity.
06:11What about the young guy playing next to you going into year two in Josh Connerly?
06:14Yeah, Josh has definitely elevated his game from a knowledge standpoint, especially.
06:21I mean, he's seeing things out there.
06:23He's calling out things.
06:24He's calling out, you know, if he sees pressure, and especially out there being in that island, you know,
06:31he's been doing a really good job holding his own.
06:33So, from a mental aspect of things, I think he's been doing really, really tremendous this camp.
06:40Talking with the 51st overall selection of the 2021 NFL Draft, Sam Cosme played his college ball at Texas.
06:49Listed.
06:50You're listed.
06:516'7", 309.
06:52How accurate is that?
06:54I would say I'm 6'6".
06:58I don't know if they got the 6'7".
07:00Maybe with the cleats.
07:02They're like, okay, cleats, that's an extra inch.
07:04And I'm 330 right now.
07:07Do you lose weight during the season?
07:09No.
07:10I'm pretty – I'm pretty – I feel like most of my body is muscle, so it's not like –
07:17I'm not burning a ton of muscle or doing anything like that.
07:20Like, guys, when they're doing a lot of cardio, they'll lose a lot of weight if they're burning a lot
07:24of fat.
07:26And so, I think from that perspective, I eat really well and a lot of food throughout this time, too,
07:33because I know how many calories I'm burning.
07:35What do you eat in a day?
07:36Like, what's the chicken breasts, eggs?
07:39Well, I mean, I typically eat whatever they got here right now.
07:42Well, but it's going to consist – like, last night, I mean, I had four chicken breasts and then a
07:51whole thing of, like, three big scoops of gnocchi and then some broccoli.
07:56But I'm a breakfast, lunch, and dinner guy.
07:59I don't eat snacks or anything like that, which I think helps a ton with just not putting on unnecessary
08:05weight.
08:06Sure.
08:07What does the addition of Steph Diggs do for this offense?
08:10Uh, he's – he's very explosive in the aspect of, like, his shiftiness.
08:15You know, he's been able to find – get wide open and, you know, he has a presence coming in
08:21immediately.
08:22You know, he's – he talks to the offense as soon as he would come in, like, tries to really
08:26build us up, especially if, like, you know, he's rotating in and we've already had, like, six plays and we're
08:32kind of tired.
08:32He's encouraging us to keep going, keep fighting, which has been a good – a good, you know, thing to
08:38see.
08:39But, yeah, he's been able to find those little areas to get open, you know, and, you know, he's very
08:45intelligent.
08:46You can tell he's – you know, when it comes to knowing, like, what spots is weak in coverages, just
08:55hearing him, like, talk to Terry has been pretty cool to see.
08:59Yeah, I've always said, like, Zach was that guy that found those open spaces.
09:03And now you have, like, a Steph and a Cheeg, two guys that can also do that.
09:07That thing – that'll be big for this offense.
09:09Huge.
09:09Yeah, big time.
09:11What do you think with Terry this year?
09:14Last year was such a cluster bleep, right, with the contract stuff and everything going on.
09:19How much different is just kind of the vibe around camp without any of that stuff kind of going on?
09:25I think it does help, you know, having your guys be out here battling with you.
09:32We know what type of person Terry is.
09:34Terry's an amazing human being, you know, but business is business, and we understood that as well.
09:40And so – but having him out here this year I think is just going to help tremendously with just
09:46going forward with our offense too.
09:49I mean, his presence, the leadership he is, like, everything about Terry.
09:53I mean, he's – you know, they always say, like, my receivers are sometimes prima donnas and just not him.
09:59He's a dude.
10:00He's a dude.
10:00He is.
10:01He's a great guy.
10:03Talking with Sam Cosby here, kind enough to join us in the tent.
10:06What do you think of the tent?
10:08You know?
10:08It's a tent.
10:09It's a tent.
10:11It's shade.
10:12We've got some AC in here.
10:13What do you think of my closet there?
10:14That's where I hang all my clothes.
10:15You know, I'm going to probably start adopting that for my cleats and stuff like that.
10:20It works.
10:20It stays dry up there.
10:22Yeah.
10:22It gets to a point in training camp where you're like, enough of this, let's play football.
10:27Have you hit that yet?
10:29I'm kind of right there.
10:31I've always thought training camp is a week, a week and a half too long.
10:38I kind of am tired of, I just want to go play.
10:41I don't really like preseason games.
10:43I think they're kind of a, they're good for younger guys.
10:46But for like guys like me, like I'm ready to go play ball, you know, like an actual game.
10:52Yeah.
10:52And so, but you know, it's good, good work throughout this time too.
10:57But I've always thought it's a, it's a week, a week too long.
11:01Well, dude, I don't know that you've looked at the calendar, but because Labor Day is as late as it
11:06possibly can be,
11:08you guys get week one in Philly is September 13th.
11:11Very late.
11:12By, by September 13th last year, you had already played the Eagles and the Packers.
11:17Yeah, it's crazy.
11:17It's crazy, right?
11:18And, and it's just, it's all still so far away and certainly it's coming and you need to work, but
11:24it's.
11:24Damn near a month.
11:25It's just this crazy, like, it's like a paradox.
11:29Why do you say that to me, Mitch?
11:31It feels like forever.
11:32I mean, I'm like ready to go and play Philadelphia.
11:35How do you, how do you maintain your motor then knowing how far away it is?
11:39You know, each and every day I just attack it.
11:43I have this like something about my head.
11:46Like I just like, I know I got to go to work.
11:48You know, I, I wake up, I got my two little babies, my wife, and like, this is work for
11:53me.
11:53Like this is, I gotta, I gotta protect Jaden.
11:57I gotta protect the, the, the person that's carrying the ball and that's how I, that's how I attack it.
12:01So if I, if I have that type of mentality coming to work and trying to get better, you know,
12:06it's, it's not like, oh my God.
12:07I, you know, just like, this is, these days are dragging on.
12:09No, this is work.
12:10This is, the work has to be done.
12:11Yeah.
12:12My, my kids are older than yours.
12:14But even for me in training camp, and I'm not physically exerting myself, but I gotta be here every day.
12:18These are long days, all that stuff.
12:20Is it, when you get home and get to be a dad, especially with a three-year-old running around
12:25like crazy, like how, how much harder is it?
12:29Or is that the escape you need?
12:30Um, to be honest with you, this year's, especially, um, I've learned the past two years, uh, I've, I have
12:37a really, really, really good routine.
12:39Um, especially with my sleep and then my supplements, my diet.
12:44And I really think it's been helping with my energy.
12:48And so by the time I get home, I'm not like super exhausted with years prior to.
12:54So like, I have a lot of energy just to, you know, put into my kids for bedtime.
12:59That's great.
12:59And, um, I think it's been a huge, tremendous thing just being a pro and just those aspects of, Hey,
13:06I'm being, I'm, I'm in bed by nine o'clock, you know, but I'm doing all my treatment stuff.
13:10The kids are dead in bed by seven, you know, like all those things that I have, I'm not, I
13:16don't waver with that.
13:18Um, I think it's just making my, my, that's why I also feel like I've been having a really good
13:22camp too.
13:23And my knee's been feeling good and everything like that.
13:25I've, I really attacked this off season as well, um, with that, that type of mentality.
13:29So, uh, it's, it's good to, it's good to like feel that and see that and, uh, be there for
13:35my kids, especially being like two years removed from your surgery.
13:38How much better do you feel now in this game?
13:41I feel, I feel really good.
13:43I'm excited.
13:43Uh, last year was, was kind of, you know, coming back from a major injury like that.
13:48And like, I came back and I ate in a half months.
13:51Um, it, it, it was, um, you were hurting that.
13:55I mean, just seeing you in the locker room, like, yeah, I saw it, you know, it was, it wasn't,
14:00it wasn't, it wasn't easy.
14:01I was playing those nine games.
14:03Um, but I wanted to fight for the guys and be there for the guys, um, because of the previous
14:07year, you know?
14:08And, um, you know, I, I wanted, I wanted to be part of the fight, uh, regardless of my knee.
14:14Um, but this year I feel, I feel like my old self, which I'm really excited about.
14:18We were talking about Trey Amos, uh, yesterday and like the injuries, the younger players who had that injury for
14:25the first time, veteran players, who's gone through it, the mental compared to the physical.
14:30So, how much mentally stronger do you think guys need to be to get to where they need to be?
14:35Yeah.
14:36Um, the mental aspect of things, uh, was a huge thing, especially like, I wouldn't say like my knee was
14:44a hundred percent.
14:45I mean, I don't really, I would say it was probably 80% coming back.
14:48Um, but like good enough to like be able to contribute to the team in a positive way.
14:54So, um, going out there and being like, it's, it's fight or flight type thing.
14:59So, it was like, I'm going to fight my ass off to, to be the best version I can for
15:04the guys out there.
15:05So, that was just my mentality.
15:06I mean, it was hard.
15:07Probably one of the hardest things I've ever gone through for my career.
15:11Definitely the hardest things.
15:12But also, I learned so much from it too.
15:14You know, I took away so many things from it.
15:17Um, and like, I'm, I'm, I'm grateful to the game.
15:20Cause in, in, in a split second, it could be taken away from you.
15:24Um, and so for me, like, I just have a different mentality about it, you know?
15:29So, uh.
15:29Come out the other side, it's going to impact you, right?
15:31For sure.
15:32Yeah.
15:32Totally.
15:33Totally.
15:33Um, you still cold plunging?
15:34Yeah.
15:35Every morning?
15:35Or when do you do it?
15:36Uh, I, I do it periodically throughout the night.
15:39Like, well, not throughout the night, but like every other night or something like that.
15:43Like.
15:43Like, he sets it cold too.
15:44Don't you set it at like 40?
15:46Yeah.
15:46Yeah.
15:47That's cold, dude.
15:48Yeah.
15:49I like it like a 48.
15:50It worked though.
15:51It does.
15:51I mean, it works.
15:52Inflammation, it's so good.
15:53Uh, especially like after games.
15:55Like, I've gotten in that thing like 3 a.m.
15:58When we were like late games.
15:59Just like, cause it just does wonders waking up the next day.
16:03Like, you don't feel as sore.
16:05Um.
16:05Um, but that's just me.
16:07I mean, there's science behind other stuff.
16:08And like, to be honest with you, like, we have machines in, in the training room that
16:14they do to me.
16:15And like, I don't really, I just like thumbs up.
16:17I think that's working.
16:18You know, like, like, I don't, I don't know.
16:21I have no idea.
16:22But yeah.
16:23So I was talking with Mitch Tischler standing behind you on the sideline today.
16:26I think you've been, to me, the most standout lineman throughout camp.
16:31But how good does it feel to be trending like that towards the season?
16:35Uh, I mean, to be honest with you, like, that's the standard I should be sending to
16:40myself.
16:41Um, you know, AP and DQ believed in me and gave me an extension.
16:46And for me, that just only drives to prove that every year that I'm worth that, you know?
16:53Um, so I should be doing my job.
16:56Again, that's my job.
16:57Right.
16:58Um, and, and I'm, I'm trying my hardest each and every day.
17:01Every day to, to, to be the best guard in the league, which I, I believe they believed
17:06in me to, to do that.
17:07So, um, that's good that, you know, people have been able to see that and do that.
17:11But at the end of the day, I'm gonna do my job.
17:14Right.
17:14Right.
17:15Um, give Sam a follow on Instagram at Sam Cosby.
17:18What's your TikTok?
17:19I don't have a TikTok.
17:20You don't?
17:20No, I'm not social media.
17:22So you can, you have a burner TikTok.
17:24You've told me that you, you've learned news from my TikTok.
17:28You've told me that.
17:28I do have a TikTok, but it's like, it's a burner.
17:30Yeah, it's just, there's no.
17:32You want to find out information, you ain't giving nobody nothing.
17:34No.
17:35There's nothing on there.
17:36I just look at stuff.
17:37So it's, it's, it's, it's, there's no, I'm not going to do no dances or anything like
17:41that.
17:42If you did one.
17:43If you did one, it'd be incredible.
17:46It would, but.
17:47Listen, if you'll do one, I'll do it with you.
17:50I'm not a dancer.
17:51Yeah.
17:52At all.
17:52B, you in on the three of us doing a TikTok dance?
17:55Yeah.
17:56Let's do this.
17:57It'd be funny as hell.
17:58It's got to be on your page.
17:59All right.
18:00I'll post it.
18:00No problem.
18:01Now, I've never done a TikTok dance.
18:03I don't know where you find them, but we'll, we won't do this till after preseason.
18:09Yeah.
18:09Yeah.
18:10I see.
18:10I, I, you got to find the dances because I'm not, I'm not a dancer.
18:13Derek's over there doing one.
18:14Derek, show us.
18:15There we go.
18:16Yeah.
18:17Uh-huh.
18:18Yeah.
18:19Oh, you've been very kind with your time.
18:21Are you going to be back on with us during the season?
18:22I know that's probably a business thing, but we'd love to have you.
18:25Yeah, of course.
18:25I would love to, if you guys wanted me to come back.
18:28That was fun.
18:28That was a lot of fun.
18:30Are you excited to go to London?
18:31I don't think I've talked to you about that yet.
18:33Are those games tough for you guys?
18:36Madrid was like, it was, they're not, yeah.
18:41Uh, you know, like you go there, it's not America.
18:44They don't got AC, so like I had to keep my door open to the balcony.
18:49Your hotel didn't have air conditioning?
18:51No, I did.
18:51It was not, not, not like America, dude.
18:54Like I get in that, I get in that hotel, it's at 65, you know, like that thing is.
18:59You can't get ice for a drink.
19:01It drives me crazy.
19:02Yeah.
19:02I just want a Diet Coke.
19:04One, they don't even have Diet Coke.
19:05Yeah.
19:05And two, pour it over ice because everything's warm.
19:08Yeah.
19:08You know, it's, it's, it was, it was beautiful.
19:12Madrid was beautiful.
19:13Everything was awesome when it came to that.
19:15But like even the, they put us in the JV or the junior locker room and like, you know,
19:21guys had their stuff, not in cubbies.
19:23We're like just one bench.
19:24So we're like cheek to cheek, you know what I'm saying?
19:28When we, when we came in, when we came in after, when you moved, like, hey man.
19:33Yeah, yeah, exactly.
19:34Like that's exactly how it was.
19:35That locker room was tiny.
19:36Yeah.
19:37I don't know if you, you remember this, but like, you know, the media comes in the locker
19:41room after the game.
19:42We started to come in and then realize like there is no space.
19:46That's, you got, Jared had to bring you guys out to talk to us, which I'm sure you were
19:50thrilled about.
19:50Yeah.
19:51Well, I think, think this little tent right here, maybe like a little bit more putting
19:55the D line, the O line and the linebackers in, uh, for the practice facility locker room
20:01and like the shower heads were for the juniors.
20:04So like they weren't up here.
20:05They were right here to your chest.
20:07So like we had to like duck down to like try to get the water on us to, to even
20:12take
20:12a shower.
20:12I'm going to guess.
20:13Well, you know what?
20:14I, I, I kind of, I'm feeling sorry for you right now.
20:17Cause I think when we went to, to, uh, London, we played a preseason game there in
20:2119, Ooh Lord, 92.
20:24Yeah.
20:24And I got in the room and I was like, this is tiny.
20:28Yeah.
20:28Yeah.
20:30I'm not big.
20:31Yeah.
20:32Like you are.
20:33We're like furnaces.
20:34The bathroom, the tubs was super, super small showers.
20:37Yeah.
20:38I'm hoping since, you know, London's been a thing, so many games that they're for us
20:43it was Madrid's first time, you know?
20:45So like with grace, you know, they, they, they were doing their thing.
20:49So, but London, I'm hoping they have their ducks in a row.
20:53I've worked, the skins played in London 10 years ago.
20:58Now, I think it was, it was, they played the Bengals to a tie.
21:01It was, it was a wild game.
21:03But when, when I was there for that game, they were building the stadium you guys are
21:09going to play in where Tottenham plays and we took a tour of it and they were telling
21:12us we're building this out to NFL specifications.
21:15So I don't know where you guys are going to practice, but I'm going to bet.
21:18Yeah, that's the, that's the stadium.
21:19I'm talking about the hotel room.
21:20Right, right, right, right.
21:21London, LA.
21:22You say your wife's 6'3".
21:23Yeah.
21:24You need some space.
21:25You need that, that, that shower to be a little taller.
21:29I'm saying.
21:30How tall is the shower at your home?
21:32Did you get it custom?
21:33No, it's just, it's just about tall as this tent right here.
21:37Do you still have to duck down to like wash your hair?
21:38No, it's one of those glass doors that you go through and do that, like, it's good, like.
21:42Good.
21:42Don't worry.
21:43You deserve a good shower.
21:44Yeah, I made sure I had a shower I could fit in.
21:47Dude, thank you for the time.
21:48Of course.
21:48I appreciate it.
21:49Always fun to talk to you.
21:50Thanks, Sammy.
