00:47uh they've had some good days and stevens has had more of those good days the rookie drew stevens
00:53out of iowa uh but jake moody missed like four kicks in a row ben told us and drew stevens
01:00went two for five so it was a bad day for the kickers by the way i do think it's
01:05important to
01:06have a reliable kicker no doubt henry um and i'm going to be concerned about the kicker situation
01:13until somebody steps forward becomes consistent becomes really really solid like we talked
01:23about the percentages like inside 45 now 49 or closer should be you know it's close to 90 percent
01:30when you go to 50 to 54 that percentage drops to maybe 70 percent and then beyond 55 you want
01:39the
01:39kicker to be above 50 percent so until they get somebody like that i'm going to be concerned because
01:45it is costly not having a guy that you can count on when you get into scoring range look in
01:53today's
01:53nfl when you cross midfield a lot of teams now dallas obviously with brandon aubry they're in range like
02:02get me to the 45 of the other team and we're kicking a field goal as long as the conditions
02:08are
02:08right you know in dallas they usually are you want to be in that position as a team where offensively
02:15especially with the new kickoff rules you're basically on in some places with some kickers
02:22you're one first down away from field goal range if that first down travels more than 10 yards
02:28after the kickoff so no worse than two first downs away from field goal range
02:36but in terms of saying the kicker problem is a bigger problem at this point because
02:41the kickers didn't have a good day yesterday you might be right henry there's no way to predict that
02:49a couple of weeks ago remember maybe it was last week max i read a lot of the
02:55tweets from last year i've done this the last few years i go back and i'll read a lot of

03:01and a lot of the stories from a year ago in training camp and you know last year's training
03:06camp man a lot of the focus was just on how good the secondary was going to be and how
03:13much improved
03:14the defense seemed to be during these training camp practices and how bullish and optimistic
03:21those that you know fans beat reporters whatever man the secondary has become a strength of the team
03:28the defense is going to be better joe witt juniors found his groove and the other thing that i read
03:34about last summer was how people were gushing over matt gay's big leg and ability to kick beyond 50 yards
03:44matt gay week two thursday night lambo one for three from 50 and out struggled all year with kicks
03:52so i don't know what missing kicks yesterday and making kicks the days before means remember this
03:59if they don't like who they have there will be kickers to choose from in about you know 25 days
04:07the cut from 90 to 53 somebody's going to be in a bind with and i say in a bind
04:13in a very favorable
04:15position in after this preseason picking between two kickers who performed at a high level
04:22and so there's going to be somebody available but i'm with you they got to solve that problem they
04:29got to find some consistency at that position they haven't done it since they took over i say that they
04:35adam peters and company hopefully stevens is the guy maybe it's jake moody even though he missed four
04:42yesterday moody missed one field goal with us last year it was a short one though in the season finale
04:50from 24 yards out that can't happen you can't have a kicker that shanks kicks he shanked two last year
04:57one with the 49ers i think and then one with washington inside 30 yards that's got to be 100
05:05inside 40's got to be 100 can't miss and if it's not 100 it's for the season 14 out of

05:21um now uh the digs point i actually thought about that henry i think that's a really interesting point
05:29that if digs is already good and people have noticed that digs stepped right in in the first

05:56in the opener cooper de jean will too they're not out there there's no game planning offensively or
06:03defensively uh but the fact that he looks different and that's been some of the talk ben has sort of
06:12alluded to that yeah it i'll tell you what it confirms it confirms that they did the right thing
06:18i mean you need going into philadelphia in the opener and then dallas week two two
06:27tough road division games to open up the season you know we don't know if the teams that they're
06:33playing are going to be great but on paper the eagles look good you know it'll be a tough game

06:46went to the super bowl so week one's always a bit of fool's gold a bit of a head fake

06:54henry i'm gonna be glad that digs is gonna be out there on the field fingers crossed he's healthy and

07:13and like i've said about the receiver situation and i i tend to agree with your assessment
07:18you know from afar because nobody really knows at this point but digs is a known entity the others
07:26are maybes so you've got two known entities going into philadelphia in the opener with jayden
07:33terry and digs everybody else is a maybe i even put chigakonkwo into the maybe column
07:41he's been productive i love the signing i really am a big fan of chigakonkwo i think he's going to

07:53division game like this one he's played for four bad teams in tennessee with bad quarterbacks with no

08:24no matter what anybody says about brandon coleman and brandon coleman has played well at times he has
08:31and he's a third year player and he might be better now than he was as a rookie laramie tunsell
08:37was your second best player on the football team there is no way you're not going to feel
08:43the hurt of losing laramie tunsell that's absurd to say at this point that we're going to be okay
08:51that it's it's fine it's it's not the quarterback it's not the quarterback that would be devastating
08:56but it's pretty bad to lose your second best player on the team maybe coleman emerges into a
09:03big time top 10 left tackle this year that would be great but he better be in the top five

09:11lost something by losing tunsell i think ben made so many good points when he was on yesterday talking
09:17about you know it's not that you know they can't scheme around it you know the difference the big
09:26difference is tunsell's out there at left tackle and you don't have to scheme anything up that side's
09:32taken care of the quarterback's blind sides taken care of we've got one of the best two or three pass
09:38blocking left tackles in the game last summer rashaun slater after signing a massive deal with the
09:47chargers got hurt was lost for the season i bet you in that moment they were devastated but also said
09:55hey you know we we'll scheme up around it justin herbert took a beating last year the chargers were
10:03never right offensively losing slater slater's elite laramie tunsell's elite brandon coleman has not
10:13proven at this point maybe he will he's not an elite left tackle if they thought he had the potential
10:21to be an elite left tackle i don't know that they trade for tunsell maybe they do there were a

11:35that was so wrecked everywhere else but it was clear that tunsell was a major major presence

11:52contribution to top 5-0 top 3 rush game he had a contribution in it no doubt but remember that

12:06a major part of everything and a lot of it wasn't necessarily on script it was off script a lot

12:15the time uh they clearly viewed coleman more as an inside player in last year's offseason after his
12:23decent rookie season because if they didn't view him that way they would have moved him to right tackle
12:29even if it was seeking out that rare opportunity taking advantage of it with tunsell being available
12:35they would have moved him to right tackle and picked a receiver or somebody else at the end of
12:40the first round but that's how they saw him last year but year three these players like i've said many
12:49times before about drafts you need three full years to really judge them so coleman may end up being
12:56who knows the second best player out of that draft in 24 he was a starter and a good one
