00:00Arnell White is hospitalized in a serious but stable condition after he was shot during a struggle with a security
00:08guard at the Royalton Casino in Crumpointe, Tobago.
00:12Mr. White of Chauvin Road and Trinidad was shot in the abdomen shortly after 2 a.m. last Saturday, police
00:19said, while Mr. White was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital.
00:24Another man, police identified as Derek Mark, was also grazed by a stray bullet during the incident. He was also
00:32treated at hospital.
00:33Arnell's mother, Boris White, said police took a statement from her son while he was under medication.
00:41When I go and I'm talking to him, you know, he's just telling me pain, pain, and you're not really
00:46getting anything from him.
00:48But I hear him now that they're saying that they took a statement from him, which I know he was
00:54groggy.
00:54The doctor and all, I spoke to the doctor and I said he was groggy because he was on the
00:58anesthetic, he was taking antibiotics and painkillers because the pain that he was going through.
01:10Ms. White said she was told an altercation involving her son escalated after her son claimed that the casino was
01:18not going to pay him his winnings.
01:21He won the game in the casino. He won the game. Some game, I don't know how that goes. And
01:32then he started asking money. And then he gets in loud and they say he's drunk. And the manager tells
01:40him to get him out of there.
01:42And he turns and says, I'm drunk now, but when I was playing, I wasn't drunk. But now I win,
01:48I'm drunk and I don't want to pay me my money.
