00:00Uh, overall bet bash for you, how would you recap it? You were there for a week. So you were
00:05there,
00:05I was there three days. You were there for longer than I, how was bet bash for you overall?
00:11This was my favorite bet bash of all of them. Um, generally, you know, you've got people just
00:17chasing accounts, looking for, you know, uh, new ways to do old things kind of thing. Um,
00:23this for me, prediction markets, uh, for many of us, Australians, British, Europeans, whatnot,
00:29this is bringing back to life 20 years ago when bet fair was at its peak. And as I've said
00:36many
00:36times, America's just bigger or consumerism, um, and more money coming into it. And I think
00:42prediction markets has found a lot of new money that wasn't in sports betting before that are
00:49traders that are now, you know, Robin hood traders during the day now playing sports and that in the
00:54evenings and weekends. Um, the average age was probably under 24 if we put a line on the over
01:01under. So it was definitely a new crowd, new group. Uh, and the best thing that I found was,
01:06yeah, a lot of smart people, a lot of technical driven people, not a lick of traders really amongst
01:13them. So it was kind of finding a lot of gaps where I would slot into nicely. Um, and the
01:19other big
01:19thing was for the amount of money going through prediction markets, very few originators, all
01:25these big market market makers are all top down doing it. It's all about speed, getting to the
01:31front of the queue, you know, looking for one on penny on each side to match and stuff like that,
01:37which yes, it's expensive as a taker on these things, but they're just putting up the market
01:44and there's a lot of volume there. So there's definitely some niches where, you know, uh, I
01:49heard F one, the last race did like three or four million matching, um, UFC fights. I've seen a ton
01:55Sunday afternoon on golf. There's a bunch of money as well. So I think there's some definite
02:00opportunities for, you know, people that want to back their judgment and just, you know, this isn't
02:06a strong market. I don't think it's necessarily efficient right now. It'll get better. I think in 12
02:11months, 18 months, um, a lot more institutional money, bigger amounts and things like that. But
02:17right now for the next six, 12 months, if you've got any kind of bank role can judge yourself and
02:24sort of have, you know, something to target at and arbitrage opportunities are just enormous as well.
02:29So, um, yeah, definitely was a lot of fun, real interesting on listening to all these, um, people
02:36getting into it for the first time, you know, super smart guys on the technical side and what
02:42they're trying to do, but huge gap where potential, you know, traders, people that just like watching
02:49games and feel like they've got an edge at certain spots, um, information, um, opportunities as well
02:55of getting, you know, good liquidity down that it's a better market right now. Um, and I think a lot
03:02of us and myself included, I'm definitely looking at this football season a little bit differently
03:07and which state I should be based in and getting a new driver's license. Cause they've stopped taking
03:12prediction markets in Michigan, um, and trying to get a bit more involved. So yeah, it's definitely
03:18the next six, eight, 10, 12 months is the time to get into this stuff. Spanky, who is the originator
03:25of bet bash probably wouldn't like the way I'm going to classify this, but I think it's a fair way
03:29of
03:30saying it. I've, that was my third one going to it. And that felt more serious that that felt like
03:36a convention. It didn't feel like previous years. It was a gathering of friends and people just
03:40getting together and Hey, how are you? It was a lot of like, you know, back slapping and having
03:44drinks and meals and, and kind of just networking. It felt like bet bash was way more serious this
03:51year. You've gone to all of them. Is that a fair way of describing it? Yeah. A hundred percent.
03:56I think, uh, you know, I'd skipped a bunch of the seminars previous years. This year I went to a
04:02couple of them, especially I did go the wine tasting again. I tell you what, that honey wine
04:07that they comes out of Napa Valley is something that you have to do. But yeah, I mean, hearing like
04:13Tom Waterhouse and Bernard Manarelli, um, speaking about prediction markets, uh, syndicates and
04:19everything that they've done in the past. Um, it was definitely people were organized. They come in,
04:26they knew what they want. It wasn't about chasing down beards for accounts and all that kind of
04:31stuff. It was real business. Uh, and I a hundred percent agree for me. It was just a different level,
04:37different atmosphere. Um, cause again, I've sort of previous years, uh, have been to it last year was
04:43like, I don't know if we can bother anymore. And even sort of this year going in was not a
04:48hundred
04:48percent certain, but glad I went, um, definitely a different atmosphere this year.
